Absolutely ridiculous. Honestly this is just too much at this point. VAR is a disgrace, especially in the CL
It's not VAR - the ref was too fecking cowardly to just say, no I'm sticking with my original decision... on flip side, did VAR even suggest looking again at the pen

They'll kick themselves when they find out the truth from devilish
As a professional you need to know what’s going on around you, no wonder Scholes and Hargreaves didn’t make it as players. :nervous:

In that case, every time a player goes for a bicycle kick or overhead kick, that should be a red. Head injuries are serious, too. Arguably more so. Doesn't matter if it causes an actual injury or not, it could cause an injury.

He goes full weight with a straight leg into his ankle, and made an exaggerated step to try and protect his space that put a player at risk. I think it is an unfortunate incident with no intent to hurt him but I find it hard to deny it is a red when watching it back.

    The pen is a joke.

It was not a red. It is an example of re referreing the match. I agree with Hargreaves, he is not even looking at the player. They are then showing the image as a still on the screen. It is really poor. Probably has the cost the match now.

Don’t keep giving them chance after chance in our box? Some of the refs decisions have been appalling this season but we don’t help ourselves. That was the second time Maguire handballed it in the box, it’s a constant with him. Maybe move his arm out of the way.
Move his arm out the way? Are you watching the game?

He was hardly splaying his arms out, he was trying to jockey the defender and it was kicked up into his arms.

The fact Maguire got done for it when Varane didn’t is a joke. Varane clearly handballed it.

We’re a fecking man down at half time, in Europe, away from home, debatable officiating with savage commentating. We ain’t winning this.

So much whiners on here, it’s red in 10 out of 10 cases. Pen is „soft“ but also ok.

Problem is the collapsing, no need to collapse after a red card against Kopenhagen
    This. Weak as feck mentally.

That is never a red card. He was just trying to plant his foot. No malice or momentum. Absolute joke of a decision.
Had another look it, and the Copenhagen player is actually trying to go through the back of Rashford to get to the ball. If Rashford has simply collapsed to the ground screaming as soon as he felt contact it would probably have been a free kick and a yellow the other way.

Where should he put his hands. Tell me. Where he’s running, where can he put his hands.
How come other players don't do that? Look at whole that play; Maguire is the only one whos hands are in position to grab or pull someone. After that he even grabbed opposition player too.

We are now ignoring the fact that Maguire does that always?

Unbelievable refereeing. Seriously, this has to stop - every single doubtful decision goes against us this year.

Think they were both potentially right. Might be on my own there but without bias I'd have given them both.

I've always felt players take a risk by trying to stretch their leg, studs up, across the opposition to shield/buy a foul for that reason. In that instance Rashford didn't even need to do it as his body was still between the opposition and the ball. Bit stupid, a bit unlucky that he caught him.

Maguire was a bit more debatable but his arm isn't by his side and the opposition was flicking it past him to turn onto fit a shot. It's an almost 50/50 decision and I'm not sure if he'd have got to the ball or not. But I think there was a legitimate decision for the ref to make.

Every other player on the pitch has managed to not forcefully plant their studs on someone's shin, maybe ask the other 21 players how they've managed to do it.

Well that's how chance works. Just as Rashford's putting his foot down, the other guy slides in. Chance happening.

How much do they pay refs? Maybe pay them a little bit more and widen the talent pool as the level of dumbness is pretty shocking for such a well remunerated sport.

When Rashford got sent off, we should have just parked the bus and defended like dogs for 15 minutes. So naive.

I honestly don’t remember a run of games where you have so many controversial decisions against us.

Every single game I’m waiting to see how the refs will feck us over and don’t even think well be allowed to win a game.

I can only imagine how frustrated and hopeless must be. When you’re shite, you rightfully lose, when you’re good, refs find ways to make you lose

We’ve been shite most of the season along with poor refereeing decisions. This time around we were playing well, had a set back with the red card and the entire team loses their head. This season every player has had a weak mentality.

So 3 crucial decisions all wrong and all against us in one game? Laughable red, laughable penalty and offside goal allowed.

Whatever happens tonight, we were playing them off the park, which I'm happy about and delighted for Hojlund. Kid is class.

Scholes and Hagreaves disagree with you, do they know more about defending than you? You’re being utterly ridiculous.

Oh two British former players defending a national treasure. That's surprising. And I probably can tackle better then scholes

I don't understand people saying that's not a red. That challenge is given as a red 9/10 times in 2023. Maybe you don't agree they should be reds, but they're given practically every time nowadays.

We've become the new Arsenal fans that we used to laugh about due to their victim complex. Have we had bad decisions against us this season? Absolutely. Have we also benefitted from some bad decisions? Yes. Either way, I find it pathetic that so many blame all our bad defeats on officials. It's a lazy excuse. Regardless of if it's a red or not, the way the players absolutely bottled it and lost their cool in the response thereafter is the bigger problem.

Shame, because we were playing the best stuff we've seen all season before it.

So much whiners on here, it’s red in 10 out of 10 cases. Pen is „soft“ but also ok.

Problem is the collapsing, no need to collapse after a red card against Kopenhagen
Finally. ONE person on here who has not missed the obvious problem with this team. We gave away a 2-goal lead in 15 mins against mighty fecking Copenhagen and all people can focus on are two coreect decisions.

No matter. UEFA will give us an automatic round of 16 spot regardless of the outcome of this match so we can all keep whining about how the whole world is against us and keep ignoring the real problem here instead of trying to win a football match that we should be winning from a 2-goal lead position even with 10 men.

I want to be in EL at least. Can't believe people want to be out of Europe completely.

You can't believe that some people want United to play fewer fixtures so they can focus on the league instead of going into a more grueling lower quality European competition that congests the fixtures even worse that we are guaranteed to get knocked out by a spanish team in some obscene fashion?

Preben Elkjær and Michael Laudrup both saying on danish TV that is was not a red card at all.
There will always be opinions about red cards but I think 10/10 refs would give a red card in this situation.

Think realistically we'll have to take Eriksen off now, we'll miss his passing but we need more legs in the middle. Tony for Hojlund after another 15 mins or so for energy on the break, possibly Reguilon for Garnacho at the same time (I think he's the paciest player on our bench).
