  • In proper Manchester United of recent times style Lindstrøm will probably score today for the first time since he was at Frankfurt.

So defensive again. How did we end up with a manager more conservative than Mourinho?
Tell me how you make that more attacking? The only change could be Bruno as a two with Ugarte and Garnacho as a ten.

Or missing the target completely and ignoring teammates in better positions.
He’s literally the only player who has made anything happen or taken any attacking initiative whatsoever in the last few games. But Amorim clearly doesn’t appreciate attacking initiative.

I wouldn’t mind us being defensive if we were actually solid and well drilled, but we always concede first every game

Think you just answered your own question. Or you could get rid of this absolute disaster of a formation and replace a CB with Garnacho.

The only way that's going to happen is sacking the manager mate.

Or we could give the guy a chance.

Garnacho getting punished for being the only player mustering up shots on target vs Spurs. We don't like to do that under Ruben. Especially in the first half of games.

I like Garnacho, and while he was arguably one of our most energetic players against Spurs, his selfishness, for want of a better word—often stifles our attacks. He’s still young and learning, but his decision-making needs to improve. That said, we shouldn't find ourselves in a position, especially next season, where we're so reliant on him as we have been at times this campaign. It’s clear that we need at least a couple of attacking reinforcements in the summer.

It shows the limitation of the system and how Amorim interprets it. Injuries aren't helping but play Garnacho and Dorgu as wingbacks and that would make a huge difference already.

We lack a metronome midfielder, Mainoo is the closest we got. But 5221 with 2 defensive midfielders is absolutely terrible.

Team is very grim at the best of times but with all the injuries it's mad.

We actually need nearly an entire new 11

Ugarte/ Casemiro.. Midfield. Bruno looks further up the pitch. I just hope those 2 arnt all over the gaff in there with huge fecking holes , we got Dligt and Maguire both will step up. No Martinez for his passing from back..

Ohh ffs I don't like 12.30 ko. Fecks your whole day up.. if we create we need to score . Goodison, Moyes back going to be tough.. I think we win.. ha .

He had a poor game though. Having a shot on target doesn't mean anything.
He had multiple shots on target, whereas I'm pretty sure none of his teammates managed any from open play. Garnacho occasionally being too selfish doesn't make anywhere near the top 5 reasons why we're struggling to score goals.

Might be mistaken but I think Garnacho has missed the most big chances in the league this season.
He's also, by far, the worst chance creator (not in totals, but in opportunities for creation missed).

Too bad he's the only one who seems to have a skill for always being in the thick of it.

I would put it in the top 5. He gets the best chances created, he had one of the worst shots. So yes his selfishness is a problem.

It is not a bad team.

At least Bruno is not in the pivot and we have a couple of options off the bench. What worries me is the lack of width. Dorgu is the only real outlet; hopefully he gets fed the ball on the overlap.

I think we'll do well today. I like the balance of the front three and wing backs.

    Going 1-3.

    Bruno, Casemiro, Zirkzee

    Beto
I agree. Assuming dorgu plays left and Dalot right. Zirkzee can play more as a classic 10 behind the 9 and Bruno in his favoured AM role hopefully get a lot of the ball.

I think Amorim’s decision today has been influenced by the fact that our front three in the reverse fixture—Bruno, Zirkzee, and Rashford—delivered one of our best attacking performances of the season. That game was arguably our most clinical display in front of goal.

That said, Everton are a different side today, so I expect a much tougher challenge this time around.

I like that team. Feels it has a better balance (would have liked it more if Yoro started on the left) and I like the idea of Garnacho coming off the bench against tired defenses to run them ragged.

The only issue I have is it is a bit one paced with Bruno and Zirkzee as the #10's and it'll be easier for Everton to sit back and defend us. Rasmus is the only one who can dig us out from this and get in behind, i.e. if he is on his game.

Also, would be swell if Casemiro is a bit more disciplined and doesn't lose the ball dallying on it or trying too many low percentage passes.

A hard fought 2-1 win for us.

Exactly, I'm almost at the point where if United lose this game I'm Amorim out. There's a fine line between patience and incompetence.

Interpretation of systems is very important, Alonso is using an almost identical shape but all the players in possession play far more compressed and narrow so the midfield 2 looks like a 3-4 man middle at times throughout a fixture. There's been little to no nuance demonstrated by Amorim. It's just putting players in position there's been no utilisation of a player to standout in his use of the 343 or 5 at the back.

God we lack ball players in central mid. Having the expensive oil tanker from Brazil in will hurt as everyone will breeze past and he'll dish out hospital passes throughout.

How have we still not fixed central midfield after so much money spend... It's mind boggling.

Barring Hojlund I'm happy with that line up. Looking forward to Casemiro and Ugarte.

Fair enough. I think I remember Amad being responsible for creating every goal in that game, so I don't have too much faith in us replicating a similar attacking performance today.

There’s some good quality in this team.

Just take Ugarte, he’s been excellent, Bruno consistently amongst the highest numbers for a number 10 in the league before this season. 4 players could change this team we just need the right 4.

You know we're in trouble when the biggest goal threat looks like Casemiro or Maguire from a set piece.

Brought Doucoure straight back in for Alvarez. Interesting.
Hopefully Agent Branthwaite does well for us.

5 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders. How many are we conceding, then?
