Well these injuries makes lineup predictions more difficult and exciting now.
Stop putting Rooney in DM, moving him up top was our main reason for form.. We need an extra man in midfield and wingers for width, so the team picks itself virtually..
Januzaj and Mata wide (Jan/ Young)
Rooney up top with Herrera Fellaini and Di Maria in midfield.. I dont see we have a better option..
DDG
Valencia Smalling McNair Shaw
Herrera Fellaini Di Maria
Januzaj Rooney Mata
How many red cards has Rooney had in his utd career, especially the last 5 years?Rooney holding against Chelsea would be madness. If anyone is a red card waiting to happen, it's him.
I would love to see this lineup, but I highly doubt that LVG will go for Fellaini as the striker. But I think it would really work!Predicted Lineup:
___________________________________________________________________________________
1. de Gea
25. Valencia 33. McNair 12. Smalling 3. Shaw
10. Rooney
8. Mata 21. Herrera 7. di Maria 18. Young
31. Fellaini
___________________________________________________________________________________
Bench: 32. Valdes, 42. Blackett, 2. Rafael, 39. Thorpe, 11. Januzaj, 9. Falcao, 20. van Persie
Predicted Score: Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd (Hazard, Fellaini)
Wrong date Pete they play Arsenal next week.Unfortunately Chelsea will see you off without much bother.

Can't presume that for every big team just because it is nailed on for ArsenalUnfortunately Chelsea will see you off without much bother.
Those red cards were almost always due to petulance after Rooney becomes frustrated by a player getting the better of him. Play him as a DM against Hazard and he'll almost certainly leave his foot in a couple of times. How many red cards has Rooney had in his utd career, especially the last 5 years?
3 in total for Utd?
On the flip side these defensive injuries have come at a good time. All our players are in good form so we can objectively look at our squad and not think "If we were in goodform, he might work". We know who works and who doesn't.
This little injury section shows how we still need to add depth to the squad. Its a small little nudge to the club to say "We are doing well, but that doesnt mean you can't buy players, we need them".
In a way, this match wont decided who gets 4th but its a nice reminder to the club that we still need to spend. Ofcourse I would rather we had everyone fit and smash Chelsea, but just giving a different view.

There's no way Rooney has the discipline, either positional or temperamental, to play that role against a top team.
