Exactly, we have to get more of our attempts on target. We too often don't even test the goalie.
Problem hasn't been getting attempts on target; problem is creating better chances, something we've lacked all season.
Against Newcastle, we had 11 shots and 5 on target.
Against Spurs, we had 11 shots and 3 on target.
Against Pool, we had 6 shots and 4 on target.
Against Villa, we 20 shots and 7 on target.
Against City, we had 11 shots and 7 on target.
Against Chelsea, we had 7 shots and 2 on target.
I think we're averaging around 55-60% possession in our last 6 games; yet we're averaging 11 shots per game (massively increased by the Villa game). Off the top of my head the shots we had yesterday were Rooney on his left foot, Falcao slipping, Falcao hitting the bar, Rooney header, Rooney attempted chip and two McNair shots. It's quite criminal that 4 of the 7 shots we had were rubbish from outside the box; and two from our central defender! The blame sits on the likes of Rooney, Mata and Young, who created absolutely nothing yesterday and was the reason we lost. I think people are woefully misled by the fact that we had 70% possession as we did absolutely sh*t all with it.
Another massive problem is the lack of opportunity for our forwards; whether it be Rooney or Falcao. Even throughout this dream run we've had, most our chances have fallen to our midfielders and very little for our strikers.
