    I'd play Pogba up front.

A bit surprised to see that no one else (unless I've missed it?) has suggested this yet.

Mikhi/Mata/Lingard behind him, with Herrera and Carrick in midfield. This would also mean that Pogba would be closer to the goal when attempting his notorious unpredictable skill moves/dribbles. I think he might actually put in a decent hold-up play as well.

Why the heck not. Just do it.

He is awful at finishing, not even very good at holding the ball up and has no pace. One of the worst options we could play up front.

It sounds like the most impossible thing in the world.. but just think about it. We beat them with Fellaini as our striker. I can genuinely see that.

It will be far more impressive than anything Lincoln or Sutton have done

It does seem like a game Jose will relish, especially with it almost being a free hit now. If we can keep them front scoring early on, I fancy us to nick a goal at some point.

Play this and the only difference from virtually our best 11 is Fellaini in for Zlatan. Fellaini holding the ball up and chesting it down/laying it off for Mhki and Mata could work very well.

I would rather have Blind in for Shaw. But yes it is a strong lineup except we have no striker (still waiting for a proper explanation from the club). Fellaini does pose an aerial threat but he doesn't possess the technique of Zlatan, not even close.

    Team News

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of the FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea.

Rooney collided with Phil Jones in training and misses out with a leg injury, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic begins a three-game ban for elbowing Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings.

Forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford (illness) are also both missing for the holders.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has a fully-fit squad at his disposal.

United have no recognised striker available.

So much for not putting out a mickey mouse side from Mourinho.

Bearing in mind who didnt travel/play last Thursday I think it will be

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Bailly Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Afro Mata

Surely if Rashford's out because of 'illness', there's still a chance that Mourinho's playing mind games and he'll magically pop up in the lineup come Monday evening?

Anyone that bothered if we go out tonight? League and EL so important now and we already have two cups under our belts in the last 12 months.

We can play Phil Jones upfront, at least he can collided with one of their player :d

More seriously I really think that even with our strikers this could have been impossible regarding how we're defending and how we're (not) scoring. You have to be rock solid and having killer instinct during big games and we're clearly missing that.

I just hope that we can play a good match, show them that the difference is not 4 goals between them and us.

Lingard and Young on the wing to track back their wingers, Valencia and Shaw on man marking Hazard and Pedro, and 2 against 2 for Herrera vs Knate and Pogba vs Matic.

Please no Felli upfront, I don't want another Van Gaal style

This is looking like a right off. A draw doesn't benefit us much either. I would love us to win everything but I just cannot see us doing it with all the injuries and suspensions we have plus Chelsea's home form. We have to sacrifice the FA Cup I think but sailor vee.

My pessimism about tonight's game has not decreased over the weekend.
Every season we have a shit load of injuries, it's not funny anymore.

I'm looking forward to tonight, no one expected us to win prior to the injuries.

We know how they will line up and in which formation, whereas Chelsea will have no idea how we will lineup.

I'd personally look to frustrate them and use pace on the counter.

Right off and sailor vee! Please tell me you did that on purpose?

As enjoyable as last years FA Cup win was, I really missed having a fixture like this.

Rooney becomes the latest player to be injured in training by Phil Jones! FFS. You couldn't make this shit up!

Flip, just notice the back four in my post above are the same that lost in the 4-0.

    New Back four.

I hope we play the back 4 that got whooped 4-0, they either stand up and be counted tonight or get shipped off in the Summer.

DDG; Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw; Carrick, Herrera, Pogba; Mkhi, Mata; Fellaini.

Genuinely think our midfield can contain them for the most part. But can't see us being able to provide any real threat going forward.

    1-0 to Chelsea.

Herrera, Pogba Carrick will definitely be our midfield 3, then I think it'll be Mkhitaryan, Mata and Lingard ahead of them, with either Lingard or Mkhi up top.

I think there is a decent chance Rashers will make an apperance (though maybe off the bench), and a slim one that Fellaini starts up top, but I don't see that happening.

It reminds me of a game we played at school against B class. We missed 3 of our best players and the guys from B were making fun of us claiming they'll destroy us.
We won that game on a rainy day, it became a mythical game. That one time when we won with our B team. Oh how they were quiet after that.

I trust Jose's motivational skills. We're underdogs, we don't have any strikers, Jose do a wonder like in that slip game vs Liverpool.

    DDG
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind
    Herrera - Carrick - Fellaini
    Mata - Mkhitaryan - Pogba
It's not quite the Championship side everyone is reacting to but I wouldn't give us any better than 6/1.

I can accept defeat, I just don't want a hiding. Particularly at this stage of the season.

That being said, cup football always has a different feel about, so expect the unexpected.

Keep it tight, bypass the midfield and nullify the counter attack.

I want us to try a strikerless system against Chelsea's back three with a free role and lots of movement from our front three. Carrick and Herrera providing the platform to do it.

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Rojo
    Herrera Carrick Pogba
    Mata Mkhi Lingard
