Really? Go say that to the Napoli and Milan supporters especially the last 2 weeks.

You know, neutrals everywhere say Juve dominated both games and episodes were made big by opponents out of frustration. We may well dig our hole tomorrow vs Porto, we never know, but referees are human and go with the master even if they do not want to. You are not the master these days, you were in the past and need being again in the future. It is mind games, Conte is the perfect Juve / Italian coach here like Trapattoni and Lippi in the past. You have Mourinho so you are ok in this department, he only needs to find his inner fire burning again.

When you're on a yellow, you don't stick your leg out.

    Stop defending the lazy cnut!

I had to listen to the game on the radio but saw the foul on youtube and it was worthy of a yellow. I haven't seen his first yellow. I just wish there was a better strategy than to keep taking down their best player.

I just can't get over our record at Stamford Bridge. Whether we are running away with the league and they are irrelevant, whether they are running away with the league and we are irrelevant, whether we are both fighting each other for the title or whether we are both irrelevant, we never, ever win there

In fact when was the last time we beat Chelsea full stop?

After Arsenal lost the first leg to Bayern, Roy Keane said this, “When Kieran Gibbs has the captain’s armband, you’re in trouble." The same can be said about Chris Smalling.

    100% accurate.

We had a good run @Lucky McLuckerson. Not really bothered by today, i think it will fire up jose even more. I liked the team spirit but i do understand Pogba is fried, he has played many minutes and i think is made unfairly a scapegoat.
I think we have come a long way from surrendering and being too negative. I think not being active in january market has cost us a little. Getting one defender and a CM would have really freshened us up.

Chelsea had 72% possession and 20 shots to our 4. But they scored only one goal. Says it all really. We played well tonight and showed great spirit but the ref caused us to lose the FA Cup. Disgrace.

Bullshit. How many players did he ran past? Just the amount of time he took to get to the other end of the pitch even without anyone else on the field is enough proof of his speed

He was already sprinting before the others got started. Half of our squad would beat him in 100m race.

Good post. Essentially on the money

Pogba was once again bullied by Kante. Like seriously, you can criticize Chelsea for anything but this guy is the real deal. This is the second time he had Pogba in his pocket. Pogba couldn't get anywhere next to the ball. For 90M, he's been absolute crap. I'm not one of those expecting him to score but atleast do your damn job or owning the freaking midfield. He can't defend for nuts letting Kante take a shot like 30 yards out. Block the freaking ball at the very least. The only thing Pogba is fit for is to freaking dab and dance. Poor poor performance from him again.

On the other hand, I feel bad for Herrera. he shouldn't have been sent off. The first card was pure silliness and the second one was something that Hazard just made a meal of it by being theatrical.

Rashford was doing good. He should have scored when he had Cahill in front of him. He needs to be more clinical if he's to get more chances with Zlatan around.

All in all, being one man down didn't help our situation. Blessing in disguise, we can now just focus on the league and Europa. We can make top 4 as well as win Europa. 3 trophies and Champions League in our first season with Mourinho wouldn't be a bad season after all.

Good post. Essentially on the money

Cheers mate. We were dominating and outplaying Chelsea on their own turf until the ref made a decision that United would lose no matter what. We were screwed out of a trophy. Typical, what we would expect from refs at Stamford Bridge. We can hold our heads up high. We played well and proved that we deserve to be in the top three, and can go toe to toe with the best teams.

I enjoyed the high press and the man marking of Jones on Hazard, but why were we fouling him so often; the high press was forcing the Chelsea players to play with their first touch away from our half. I mean one or two "rough" fouls sends the message that we aren't going to let them easily have free touches. The red card changed the whole game and I feel as a United fan that we got shafted, it was such a soft red (meaning the weakness of the accumulation of his two yellows, and it was maybe his third? foul in the game). That being said, by the body language and explanation that Oliver gave Jones and Smalling, Herrera should have been smarter. I mean he literally was all over Hazard thirty seconds after the Jones reprimand. He should have been smarter.

This also brings up another point that I have been wondering for some time. I know we don't have loads of options, but why is Smalling captain? Not a very vocal or commanding presence. The second yellow could have been avoided had he controlled the rest of his players

You're full of shit my friend.

So do you think he is quicker than Rashford? Martial? Lingard? Valencia? Smalling? Mhki? Young? Fosu Mensa? Bailly? Shaw?

That's 10 players there just for a start who are faster than him i'd guess there are many others too.

Didn't think this was completely hopeless, we absolutely bossed their wingers, Tony and Young just stopped them dead. Our pressing was working well, and it's seemed like a bit of a weakness for them a couple of times this season, but our problem is it required fitness, and it was pretty clear last night a few of our players are simply knackered.

Pogba has been getting a lot of stick, but I think at times he showed serious class, but his biggest thing for me was he barely seemed to be trying at times (which might just be his laid back style), not chasing down when he should be, walking towards a loose ball instead of sprinting etc. but I think this is probably due to tiredness. He's only 23, but he's probably played the most minutes of any outfield player for us this season and he didn't even have a real summer break. Regardless of price tag, he's still human, he needs a rest for me.

Rashford looked good, and made Cahill look like an amateur a few times, chasing him down and making him make mistakes and for his chance he dribbled round him to the point Cahill didn't even know where he was.

Herrera was probably a bit unlucky, it was a soft red, but as pointed out it was stupid timing, shouldn't have done that when it was pretty obvious that the ref was getting pissed off that we just knocked Hazard over every time he got on the ball, and of course we all know he's a diving little shit so was always going to try and get any fouls he could at that point to try and force the ref's hand.

I was annoyed to see Fallaini come on for Mikhi. I under stand why, extra bulk, but he added absolutely nothing and taking Mikhi off removed a huge amount of our scoring potential, I knew there and then we'd need penalties to get anything at all. I'm not normally one of the Fellaini haters either, I think he has his uses and it picked on a bit too much, but it was too much of a rash decision and I felt took more away from the team than it added.

We were beaten by tiredness and an unfortunate sending off against a very good, fresh team, little shame in that. Now we can concentrate on top 4 and Europa league, we've already won the league cup, don't think winning the FA cup would have made that much difference. The worst outcome here for me is another stressful 90 minutes put on already tired legs for no reason.

I suspect that Mou had told the players to disrupt their midfield attacking play as much as possible by marking Hazard heavily. As you say Jones had fouled him shortly before Herrera and the ref spoke to Smalling about it so maybe that's why Herrera got sent off - after two fouls !

You can't look at that video and tell me that wasnt lightening quick speed with acceleration to boot. Its almost as fast as the run Valencia made against Liverpool some three seasons or so ago. Pogba is rapid, he just doesn't need to unlock it much as he usually uses his other attributes like strength and technical skill to create space for himself. Ask any Juventus supporter if Pogba was a slouch. I bet you'll say you watched him at Juventus though

I watched the video and it wasn't lightening quick speed and his acceleration is poor. He did look faster than his usual pace in that clip though yes. I named 10 players in our squad alone that after faster than him. You aren't a lightening quick player if you are slower than 10 plus players in your squad unless we have the paciest squad ever assembled.

didn't see enough of the game to comment fully (very long day at work) but not sure why DDG took a step to his left just before Kante hit the shot and Rashford is startign to remind me of Andy Cole - brilliant finisher when it's all down to instinct; not so good when he has time to think about what he is going to do! Oh and when are the FA going to admit that Michael Oliver isn't up to it?

Courtois' save was nothing compared to De Gea's multiple world class saves. Rashford made it easy for him. It was a great run but the end product (finishing) was poor. As a striker his job is to finish. He should have scored. Any player with the instinct of a striker would have scored.
Agree DDG's saves were much better but otherwise disagree .Every striker misses more chances than he scores, Il wouldn't blame Rashford for that one, I'ld credit him for creating the opportunity.I did feel he should have hit it with his right though.
