He's a pretty big part of the reason we've been so poor. Poor at cutting out through balls. Poor at closing down around our box. Poor at giving away fouls in dangerous areas. Poor in playing at any sort of tempo. Poor in linking defence to the midfield. Poor in getting the ball forward to spring counter attacks.

No real change to a standard lineup that I would have expected under Jose, bar Jones coming back into the team. Will be interesting to see if we can notice any change in approach on the pitch. Though wouldn't be surprised if there isn't as Ole has only had a few days with the team so far.

There is still plenty to play for this season including top 4. We're 8 points behind 4th with over 20 games to play. Us United of all people should know that nothing is over until it's really over. Bailly-Lindelof can't work together in PL, dreadful combo that lacks any aerial presence. People need to stop dreaming about it because no manager is really that naive to do it.

Less bothered about the line up. More interested to see intensity and how we play. Full backs overlapping. Quick movement. Forward balls... and if change is necessary will it be long ball to Fellaini or perhaps Fred/pereira who are more likely to get good passes through

Nah.

His passing has been very poor recently, but his defensive work has been okay considering he's the only midfielder in the side shielding the defense.

He may lack the intensity to press agressively, but he's won two Premier League titles doing exactly that.

If he can find his passing touch again, I've no problem with him being first choice.

Well watching that lineup I've lost complete faith in Carrick and McKenna. Hopefully Ole will seed out the frauds (Matic, Jones, Young, Lingard) once he's settled.

Exactly.

Mourinho and Ole are both very intelligent men, who understand football and footballers better than anybody on this board can ever do. It's not surprising that they have similiar opinions about who our best players are (personality clashes not withstanding).

Where they'll obviously differ is in their philosophies and approaches to the game.

Ole's first XI was always going to have a lot in common with Jose's.

They need an aerial presence with them, Smalling is surely our best one but Jones is the only other available, even though he's less competent in the air than Smalling.

Jones is a dreadful defender but it's just about finding balance in the CBs combo.

Of course there's a big chance Jones will feck it up as usual though.
