Well what a start to the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager of Manchester United! 5:1 at Cardiff.
It wasn't just that it was a convincing win but the manner of the performance that has suddenly changed the whole outlook for our season. It feels like the doom and gloom of the season has been blown away in 90 minutes at the Cardiff Stadium. We played with energy, ambition, freedom, quality and got our due rewards. The United way.
That was as convincing a win as we've had in a long time. From the third minute when Rashford scored a ferocious free-kick we were always in control of the game. Cardiff briefly threatened to come back into the game when they made it 2:1 midway through the first-half but we immediately came back to go 3:1 up with a peach of a goal from Martial.
Lingard made it 4:1 after 57 minutes and there was no sitting back, no holding what we have. We kept looking for more goals, as we should and Lingard got a second to make it 5:1 and put the icing on the Christmas pudding.
We could not have hoped for a more positive start with Ole as manager. A timely Christmas present for Reds everywhere! Can't wait for the next game
