If you'd ask some posters Chelsea (darling of Redcafe) would have been already in 9:0 lead.

Yep because most peoples memory is to short to remember that they struggled past Bolton and Shrewsbury in the COC this year alone.

Just fecking practice taking shots from distance there goalkeeper looks awful.

I'm guessing LvG wouldn't warrant such losses of possession mind

Surely Fellaini has to be subbed? He's been crap and been booked, and it looks like Foy is in the mood to feck us. Put someone wide right to stretch the play. Use the fact we have better players to our advantage instead of condensing the play.

I don't think most of the people people are criticizing have been bad. Di Maria I thought has been decent and looked dangerous, and we come alive when he gets the ball, but not enough people are really moving enough off the ball. Januzaj I thought has done well, lacking in confidence to really make things happen though. Carrick has been pretty poor though. Not being proactive enough with his passing. Playing it too simple. Same with Fellaini. Not done anything wrong, but he's not a wide player, simple as. The strikers just haven't had enough of the ball really to do anything, but at the same time, they can do more.

Not much to say about that half otherwise, Cambridge was all up for it and were closing down like crazy for the first 20 minutes or so as it often happens against smaller team, but after that they just started sitting back and we've had a lot more possession.

We just need to watch the set pieces.

I hate watching us. We are so, so boring.

I remember being furious after that Leicester game but thinking that at least this would be a memorably entertaining season. How fecking wrong could I have been?

It's such an obvious thing as well, it's like none of our forwards realize they won't get the ball if no-one drops in and provides a link. Shows how much we need Mata, Rooney, or Herrera in there to do something.

You could see all of them (Falcao, Wilson, Januzay, ADM and Fellaini) all in Cambridge's half and the rest of them in the other. No wonder we're too slow with our passing. It is too obvious on TV and I don't even wanna imagine it on the field. We make it so so easy for our opponents to defend against us.

The top teams in this league play with pace, tempo and intensity. Unfortunately for you, your preferred method of operating is the exact opposite

We play matches from the beginning as if we're already leading by a good margin.

In all honesty, we should be dispatching the lowest rank team left in the cup. Ok so it's an away game on a dodgy looking pitch, but there should be zero excuses. This is Manchester United, not Grimsby or Accrington Stanley. Our club janitor probably earns more than the Cambridge players combined, and this is the best we can come up with? Also how many games has it been since we last scored in any first half?

Need better movement from the forwards.
Wilson and Falcao only get involved in the game when they seek position down the field.
When di Maria or Januzaj have the ball Falcao or Wilson must make offers with runs in behind the defence.
We seem to be attacking through the middle, but there are too many player there. With forwards making run behind the defenders, the space will open up for Di Maria and Januzaj.

Di Maria must be wondering why the hell he swapped Madrid for this.
Di Maria should instead take a hard look at himself, and wonder where his form has gone. The set-pieces, the shooting on sight - none of it has been good enough.

It's a pity Mata isn't on the bench as I think those two coming on would be perfect. Unfortunately there's Fletcher.

True. We've just got Persie left on the bench as an attacking player today. Really don't understand why we take with us Fletcher and not Pereira in a match like this either...

We haven't been that bad but we haven't been good either. There's been little sparks of life from United but it's too slow and mistake ridden at the moment. You have to give credit to Cambridge though who have been very good defensively.

Yeah makes a lot of sense. And it means we can blame Moyes some more

Moyes cleaned his hands from blame after being sacked less than a full season in and the new manager spending a quarter of a billion dollars in his rebuilding project...

Jesus, that lack of movement, making oneself available for ROjo there was pathetic.
He's been the only looks likely, we're shitting ourselves, totally feared of our own football.
We need somebody to say 'fck this' and take the game fearlessly forward.
Rooney aside, we just lack character, I think it might just be that simple.

We haven't been that bad, we are just being patient, there is 90 minutes to win.

Mourinho's mighty Chelsea team expected to walk the league needed a late own goal to get their win against Shrewsbury town.

People seem to be criticising Louis van Gaal a lot from what I've read, Mourinho had 14 shots in that game and his opposition 10, if these games are not easy for Chelsea then why would they be for United?

    Exactly.

9 times out of 10, the Premier League class comes out on top in the end.

There's no need for batshit beserk reactions going on here.

I hate watching us. We are so, so boring.

I remember being furious after that Leicester game but thinking that at least this would be a memorably entertaining season. How fecking wrong could I have been?
I'm sorry how are we supposed to be entertaining when playing in such difficult conditions against a team trying for every ball and it's their biggest game ever? We could be the Champions and top of the league and we wouldn't be that entertaining. It's all about 'getting the job done'

The real culprit here is van Gaal. We have talented players. His tactics and or instructions are clearly not working.

We should be banging in goals against a team like this!

Excuse one: The pitch is shit and tiny - this is not a secret, you set up differently if this is the case

Excuse two: It's windy - this is not a secret, you set up different if this is the case

Excuse three: They are putting everyone behind the ball - again it was obvious they would do this.

The most baffling thing is that it's a carbon copy of the yeovil game, why are lessons not being learnt.

Interesting that everyone was saying Januzaj and Blind were our best players but those are the two that the pundits criticised at HT.

Thank you. People are fooling themselves if they think this first half was decent. Players haven't turned up yet. I expect high intensity from us in the second half, and players constantly offering themselves for a pass.

I actually wish that was true, we played some good stuff in pre-season, it gave some of hope that the tide was changing.:(

And back then when I said relax it's just preseason, I was accused of being too negative. Look at this place now.

Di Maria is top of the diamond, so he's not collecting the ball from the defenders or transitioning defence to midfield. Our CB's have to essentially bypass our midfield since passes into carrick come back to them and passes to Fellaini is a tight game aren't an option. I'd be shocked if Fellaini managed 20 passes in that first half.

So wait, all three are supposed to stand around 16 yard box and wait for the ball that's not going to come to them then? I do understand that our midfield is non-existant to some extent, fair enough, but if I was a player and starved for balls (no) whole game I'd fecking move my ass to collect it and start something.

Di Maria should instead take a hard look at himself, and wonder where his form has gone. The set-pieces, the shooting on sight - none of it has been good enough.
I don't blame him or anyone shooting on sight, there is hardly ever a pass on due to the terrible movement.

It's a pity Mata isn't on the bench as I think those two coming on would be perfect. Unfortunately there's Fletcher.
Fletcher is perfect for today. Probably my should have started. We need less fancy crap and more English (and Scottish) blood.

Januzaj grew up playing street football in the toughest parts of Brussels. He can stay. Rojo played in the streets of Argentina and also has played in Russia he can stay too.

This is why we bought Liam Millar.
This is why we bought Alan Smith.
