Why on earth did Januzaj not shoot there? And Phil Jones taking corners again? He is having problems passing the ball five freaking yards.
 Love the username. Just waiting for Carl88.

Rush forward to what space? There isnt too much you can do when the oppositions whole team is defending. The greatest team in our recent time, Peps Barcelona struggled time and time again to break down Chelsea whenever they met. Because Chelsea usually always defended deep and in numbers.

    Cambridge being compared to Chelsea?

The problem with United is not personell, it's how the team is set up and the instructions they are given.

We are playing them tired, right?

Not the end of the world, but disappointing really. Where is Di Maria, for example?

Jesus the BBC camera work in studio. He got lost in the 3 feet between Neville and Shearer :lol:

I don't mind him as a presenter/anchor but I reckon Linekar would make a much better analyst than a lot of their analysts.

Is LVG making us 'too' careful?

We're just too ponderous in possession. Possibly a result of LVG's philosophy of always going for the safe option, no one playing on instinct. Or it's just a lack of confidence. I also would like Carrick to take more responsibility. He's often letting the game pass him by when Jones or Rojo have the ball, instead of collecting the ball from them and looking to create something.

Phil Neville makes a good point, we've been playing far too slow, but it's apparently not what van Gaal wants us to do. No one-on-one going at your guy, no risks, no speed but rather a slow build-up with good man movement until we can create a clear-cut chance. I'm just not sure this style fits a lot of our players (di Maria, Januzaj, Falcao, Wilson).

I can't believe how cowardly our players have become. Hardly any of them want the ball, they never show for it, they don't move for it, in fact they move AWAY from the ball.

Its a far cry from the 'never say die' attitude our players had under SAF.

    I don't think we've been that bad.

Their pitch is shit and tiny. It's been difficult to find space. Cambridge have been difficult to break down and hungry for the ball.

We just need to quit conceding corners and set pieces and speed the game up a bit more.

They'll tire out eventually and hopefully we can get a few goals. I'd possibly bring Herrera on for Wilson around the 60 minute mark.
Actually the pitch is wide enough that isn't the problem

Very difficult with how deep Cambridge are, I think we'd be better putting Di Maria on the left of the diamond and putting Januzaj in the #1 role as well, Di Maria is best when he can run from a bit deeper.

Januzaj, Rojo and Blind look like proper footballers.
Carrick doing very, very little. I think he's playing too much.
Di Maria was poor but he is dangerous.
    Jones is brainless.

We have a big hole in midfield, why don't we move Blind there? He seems to be our main player anyway.

    Cambridge being compared to Chelsea?

TBH we had a chance to break, and Januzaj instead of taking the ball forward quickly, turned around and played the ball back. If we keep doing that of course the defence will be back and set.

Says a lot about the rest of them then.

That's why I'd take the rest of them off. Januzaj hasn't been brilliant but put in a solid performance. His confidence is low already, taking him out now would kill any type of confidence he has left.

    ADM is actually playing.

One of our strikers could simply get down to get the ball then, Rooney style rather than sit in the box doing nothing. Agree that our midfield is cack this game though.

Di Maria is top of the diamond, so he's not collecting the ball from the defenders or transitioning defence to midfield. Our CB's have to essentially bypass our midfield since passes into carrick come back to them and passes to Fellaini is a tight game aren't an option. I'd be shocked if Fellaini managed 20 passes in that first half.

    I agree to a point.

We don't look threatening but the pitch and environment isn't easy. They are well up got it and we look like we are trying to get up for it during the game.

Jones has just been poor today.
Januzaj has been poor, slow, weak.
Falcao hasn't had anything to work from
Wilson hadn't had anything at all
Di Maria looks a bit frustrated
Blind and Valencia have been ok

Rojo has been a monster! Quality display.

Wouldn't say Januzaj had been poor but agree he has been slow. Would love to see him do what ronny did in his early games... just go!

To be fair they constantly broke down Chelsea it was just would never go in. They had chance after chance.

Ahh, so you are on of those who defend Di Maria in everything he does?
You'd rather have Fellaini on the pitch - when he has done almost nothing at all for the entire half - than Di María - who has at least tried to affect the game?

Yes, its an absolutely text book FA Cup tie. Happens to every team up and down the country every year.

I'd get rid of Fellaini and put Blind in midfield and get Shaw on down the left, only issue there is that we'll loose a bit of physicality and height so don't think it will happen

Does it matter? They are better players and should be doing better against Cambrighe ffs. There's too many excuses being made for these players. We're not very good at football.

Do players matter? Is that a serious question? The difference between having Di Maria or Fellaini in CM matter alot. Of course we should be doing better but it's really a testament to how bad Fellaini is on the ball.
