this teams good enough to win the game. This is getting beyond a joke. Just tell these motherfeckers to stop being so f-ing negative. Forwards, backwards, forwards, backwards, forwards, backwards, give it away. Bullshit. Not much space for Wilson of Falcao but there is zero imagination or quality coming from deep. Adnan at the end summed it all up. Negative.

    I don't think we've been that bad.

Their pitch is shit and tiny. It's been difficult to find space. Cambridge have been difficult to break down and hungry for the ball.

We just need to quit conceding corners and set pieces and speed the game up a bit more.

They'll tire out eventually and hopefully we can get a few goals. I'd possibly bring Herrera on for Wilson around the 60 minute mark.

A diamond with Fellaini/Adnan rather than Di Maria and Herrera. Rojo/Jones have no options on the ball unless you count playing it into Fellaini's feet as an option.

    ADM is actually playing.

It's about our CB's having zero options when they're on the ball. We can't play it out of defence into CM because Fellaini is useless and Carrick is static. Falcao and Wilson get nothing but long balls.

One of our strikers could simply get down to get the ball then, Rooney style rather than sit in the box doing nothing. Agree that our midfield is cack this game though.

Shitty wind...bobbly pitch...them sitting so deep....We ain't as bad as some are saying.
    I agree to a point.

We don't look threatening but the pitch and environment isn't easy. They are well up got it and we look like we are trying to get up for it during the game.

Jones has just been poor today.
Januzaj has been poor, slow, weak.
Falcao hasn't had anything to work from
Wilson hadn't had anything at all
Di Maria looks a bit frustrated
Blind and Valencia have been ok

Rojo has been a monster! Quality display.

This reminds me of the game when United played Chelsea in 07 or 08, where Fergie set up the team to allow Mikel all the time on the ball while tightly marking everyone else, knowing that he was incapable of destroying a team. They're doing that with Jones...

    Januzaj has no confidence.
Rojo is the player of the match for me so far, been excellent, and Jones hasn't been bad either. Other than that I don't know what I'm watching.

Jones has been awful so far.. Too many bad passes from him.

Been impressed with Rojo. That's about it. Sick of this static zombie play - which isn't just an LVG thing just as it wasn't just a Moyes thing. Its been going on for years and its incredibly annoying.

As the defender stormed forward everyone else just stood there and watched! Remember when we used to rush forward with pace … as a team?

Rush forward to what space? There isnt too much you can do when the oppositions whole team is defending. The greatest team in our recent time, Peps Barcelona struggled time and time again to break down Chelsea whenever they met. Because Chelsea usually always defended deep and in numbers.

Losing confidence quickly now with LVG, his philosophy and stubbornness. He can't even field a side to trouble Cambridge United. Our passing is beyond awful. Our buildup play is so slow and labored as to almost be comical. I really don't think we have what it takes to get top 4.

A diamond with Fellaini/Adnan rather than Di Maria and Herrera. Rojo/Jones have no options on the ball unless you count playing it into Fellaini's feet as an option.

Does it matter? They are better players and should be doing better against Cambrighe ffs. There's too many excuses being made for these players. We're not very good at football.

    Shearer to Keown

Falcao will probably get slated in the Falcao thread still.

Januzaj the only one who can come out of the first half with any credit.

Phil Jones is fecking atrocious. Just a pointless, all action, bumbling mess.

Cambridge will be sorry they wasted all those opportunities.

Wilson and Januzaj off, RVP and Herrera on

    Rubbish football.
Personally Januzaj was played well and u can't blame jamies if he never gets the ball. We are so poor now devoid of creativity but I think it's because the players are trying to play LVG system which isn't allowing the players to play insticntly

Januzaj for me has been told to be less wasteful. He has been, but you need him to offer more than our other zombie passers, should be able to express himself.

I hate it how our CBs are forced to be playmakers of sort (Rojo did that well and Jones not so much) because there is no one making himself available for a pass when Carrick is marked. We are cut in two parts, the back 4 + Carrick and the rest of the team, there is no link whatsoever. It forces Jones to attempt stupid long balls or Rojo to advance and dribble.

    Hush now, perfection or nothing.

There are very few valid excuses for Manchester United to be struggling against Cambridge United. The pitch and the opposition's defensive tactics are not among them.

That lack of tempo is so fecking depressing :(

Better than the Yeovil game but still no chances created. We should be doing better but it is hard when they refuse to give any space. Hopefully it opens up abit. Januzaj and Blind and Rojo doing well.

Just because he's in the middle doesn't mean jack shit. We have the ball put right and Carrick is dead centre, we have it on the left and he's dead centre, hes creating no angles, he's not going towards the ball to get it off the winger, its not how you play as a defensive playmaker, its not how Carrick plays at his best.

He isn't the only one in midfield you know. He's shown for the ball the most and where have the rest of them gone? Camping all the way up top.

Let's be entirely honest for a moment, are any of you genuinely surprised?

Honestly no, not really but I think this proves that ¨whichever numbers you want to put together and call a formation¨ is not our problem. The problem is clearly the lack of team- and off-the-ball movement.

Well it destroys this myth that the 3-5-2 is what's stopping United playing well.

Phil Jones is playing dreadful, nevermind anyone else. Atrocious defender.

Loved the first half. Love cup ties like this.

Same here. Real blood and thunder stuff in the first 15 minutes especially from Phil Jones. His passing may leave a lot to be desired but that lad is committed.

It seems we have gotten a real foothold in the match towards the last 15 minutes though. Hopefully the second half will see more of us pinning them back.

Why the feck do I even bother getting up to watch us play? I mean I will always get up but these games bore more so much.

We're just such a horrible combination of no imagination, static movement, and Phil Jones. I honestly think Jones and Evans need to be shown the door. They've both had enough time. Smalling should stay.

Interesting point from Shearer about how players like Blind need to do a better job of getting the ball into Falcao.
