The likes of Evans, Hannibal and McTominay all starting show how broken we’ve become as a club. Glazers out.

One of the richest clubs with the biggest squad relying on a 35 year old :wenger:

    Evans and Lindelof :wenger::wenger:.

Any pre match confidence I had has just gone out the window.

I am very unsure about Evans in central defence. He is a smart and experienced player, but also very, very slow by now.

I would prefer McTominay in defense and Eriksen in midfield. Precisely against a team like Burnley, Eriksen will also be able to play well, as they will defend compactly, and he can make some chance-creating passes

Martinez out and Maguire injured. Varane just back. What choice do we have but to start Lindelof and Evans. If we need to we can sub on Varane but since he's just coming back, I don't think we risk starting him.

People freaking out when we don't have a lot of choices here.

On Evans starting we have first choice CB on the bench and just passed his fitness test (Varane) and his partner is injured (Martinez), and third choice is starting (Lindelof), and forth choice (Maguire) is injured, even Shaw he deputized for Martinez is injured, so Ten Hag has no choice but to start him, and Evans is PL veteran so hopefully he can still cope

This transfer was so bemusing to me.
Yep bemusing at that time and still is. I assumed he will be with us only for preseason and once he is fit he will find a new club and leave. Says everything about our current situation that no other club were willing to take him and he now ended up starting for us.

Fail to win this game and I fear it will all go tits up. The mood is already bad enough around our club and the media will just pile shit on us.

Unbelievable that we are missing 100% of our back four, and Maguire and Malacia.

Really hope Mejbri and McTominay run themselves to the ground.

A Burnley victory would not be a huge surprise. This is a weak United team.

Can't believe McT is starting this match.

He curled out such a turd of a performance in Munich my only hope is this is a challenge from ETH for him to prove he has a place here, personally I would have benched him for weeks after that effort.

Hes picked the best available players...why the meltdown. This place sometimes...

Yeah, we should top class defenders who are happy being 5th choice coming on since all those well run clubs have 5 top class CBs on their books as well
Well yes, but it’s sad that we haven’t got a youngster who’s worth giving a go.

It's 2023 and we have Evans in our starting lineup. Absolutely freaking ridiculous shit. If anyone in 2014 that this will happen I would have gone mad.

Whoever our 5th CB could be, there ain't no way it should be Johnny Evans and I say this even if he has a fantastic game today

    fecking Evans.

    "It's only a trial"
    "He'll never play"
"It's only for experience for the young lads"

Imagine the likes City, Liverpool and Arsenal playing a soon to be 36 year old central defender who wasn't good enough for relegated Leicester City.

A laughing stock of a club.

Eriksen tired. Amrabat not ready and mount and mainoo out. Our 7th and 8th choice midfielders are starting today. It happens.

He's going to play as a wide midfielder. I would prefer an actual winger there that doesn't cost us goals with his lazy play.

It's hard to moan at players for being lazy when they know their place is safe no matter how badly they stink it up.

Mejbri: I am hoping he is a wide midfielder. It's kind of like that Arsenal team we battled from 97-99. Mejbri (Parlour) wide midfield tucking in to make a solid midfield 3, while Rashford (Overmars) has more of a free reign to really attack on the left.

Am not sure I trust him there.... injuries really fecking us here

Played against Bayern though? And Arsenal was about 3 weeks ago?
Twitter rumours that he played through injury. I wouldn't pay it much attention. Let's see what ETH says about him. Hopefully he isn't out for too long.

The defence is shit, but who else other than City could put out a better selection than that with six defenders injured/not ready to start, including the entire first choice back four?

    Us.

I think Mejbri will but as much as the media try to hype up McTominay as a hard worker I really don't think he is. He can be occasionally aggressive in the tackle or squaring up to opponents which gives the impression he is a workhorse but I don't see that as the reality. Too often he is jogging around the pitch and easily getting passed by opponents.
