Think the elephant in the room is not our defence it's that we cannot play through their press. That is the biggest issue we have witnessed at this club, and that's a coaching influence. Blame the players to some degree but even Ole conceded that we have alot of quality in the squad so it's his responsibility just as much

We have gone through it and created some good chances though. Don't see it as a big problem today. Our fullbacks offer very little going forward though which is a bigger problem.

Shambles. Great for few minutes but proof we are totally lacking in quality and experience we couldn't keep it up. Individual blunders by our worst player (Young) and one of our best players (De Gea) don't help but it's sad looking at this team and saying it's a Manchester United one.

There is no one in this team fit to clean the boots of Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke, David Beckham et al.
    Sadly.
Playing donkeys like Ashley Young out of position is dodgey enough in the prem. It’s suicidal in Camp Nou.
Denis Irwin was our left-back that night. And then Patrice Evra the last time we visited the Camp Nou.

    Sigh.

Haha! We're all so frustrated. Clear out the lot of them. Some of us are stepping over other forum members in a contest to prove who hates this or that of our players more. Hey, how about...this United team makes me.... hate...puppies...yeah, it makes me so upset that I hate puppies. Nah, who could ever hate puppies? But I am pissed.

I get your point about Young being defensively more reliable but I would rather sacrifice some defense for proper football with Dalot and if that's not an option I would play a defender at FB like Jones/Lindelof. At least their defending would be more reliable.

My point is his reliability is an illusion considering how badly he has been playing.

Yes. You could argue Dalot isn't ready and would have his confidence ruined if he got given the runaround, but Ash is a fecking liability in both attack and defence. Gives it to Messi for the first goal and ruins our attacks whenever he gets the ball. I'm so angry at the suits for leaving us in this fecking terrible mess, where Ash is in contention to start CL games for us.

    What?

The amount of money we spend isn't likely going to solve our issues - as proven from the last 6 years.
    As I said.

Worse clubs to support. Stop whinging.

The thing is; does anyone think that Barca have the quality to beat Liverpool over 2 games?

    I’m not confident

I say 75/25 to Liverpool. I think Liverpool will press Barca like we have done in spells and they will get goals from the attackers. They will also not make silly errors and Van Dijk will have high focus to stop Messi.

I think Barca can be totally smashed by Pool and it feels really bad.

Jones/Lindelof? Well, they would certainly be better defensively but their contribution to our attack would be non-existent. Young is at least capable of providing an outlet on that right-flank.

I don't like Young any more than you do, believe me, but we're stuck with him for the time being. He will be replaced in the summer, it's just a matter of time.

That is the illusion I am talking about.

Ole set us up well. We were playing fast, slick football. As soon as we concede we mentally collapse. Been happening for years and needs sorting.

We need to change this up right now. Non of this Solskjær bullshit of waiting until 60 minutes before making a substitution.

I’d rather we lost 4-0 going for it than go out 2-0 on a whimper
The most likely scenario is losing 4-0 on a whimper.

The knee-jerk is as pathetic as the individual mistakes from the players.

It's been quite clear that Young isn't good enough, and he's not the only one. That was evident in the first leg and he's been poor all season. De Gea is still one of the top goalkeepers in the World, to argue against that and to think we are better off without is just plain stupid. All players have peaks and troughs in form, to question his position at the club is ridiculous.

And the management got the tactics right too. We were dangerous in the first 10 minutes and the Young mistake just took the wind out of our sails. You can't blame the decisions made based on the squad we have and the position that we are in. We're unfortunate that our attacking players are all in poor form and/or trying to find their feet after injury. All at the same time.

One positive tonight. That first 10 mins is clearly how Ole wants the team to play. Brave, attacking, forward passes. Players wanting the ball and confident on it. Pressing and winning the ball back. If by some miracle we manage to get the right players in this summer we should be good to watch next season. In the europa league.
The thing is, we had starts like that under Mourinho too, but we have a MASSIVE problem in taking our chances. We have zero composure at all.

Our attackers need replacing. Ole needs to be ruthless with Rashford, he's not ready to lead the line for us yet.

    One 'highlight'
    Man United get a corner*

Commentator: "It's interesting to see all the height is at the back post"

Ashley young proceeds to go for a low corner which doesn't beat the first man

Random question... but anyone else watching on TNT in the US?

Why is Steve Nash commenting on the Champions League?
I had no idea he's a commentator now, but I know he he has always been a fan of football. He is actually a big Tottenham fan.

I'm watching tnt, because the idea of listening to Steve mcmananmanmanan is a level of hell I have no desire to descend to.

You leave them alone. Pogba needs better players and Martial needs a run of games.

    Or something like that.

Same could be said of the local lads Lingard and Rashford equally as useless but you know, one of them has so much passion the other magical movement or some such shite.

So many problems with this squad.

I know it's Messi, but Fred got beat so cheaply for that first goal. Obviously Young needs to do a better clearance, but yeah.
Young has to do better, Scott has to be quicker on the cover, Fred should have been a bigger obstacle. It's all a joke.

The board need to either back or sack Ole this summer. He’s not a miracle worker and he is not sir Alex.

I just don’t think that the Glazers will authorise the expenditure needed for player recruitment.

    As I said.

Worse clubs to support. Stop whinging.
    Ok.

We're the best team in the world! Nothing is wrong! We solve all our problems like it's football manager!

Is that better? No criticisms to the club allowed!

The difference really is the fullbacks. Barca fly forward without fear or hesitancy and it drives us backwards.

    Ours dither and look scared.

    Cool deal.

I just recently added the TV package to my Hulu account, so I’ve watched the entire Champions League season on Univision until today, hence the confusion on my part.
Apparently, Nash has always been a soccer fan. Seems quite knowledgeable, and I like his calmness when he speaks unlike most other pundits you hear. Him, Stu Holden and Mo Edu make a nice studio team.

How many goals will we score in the second half? My guess is 0.

Annoying that at least 5 of Barcelona’s subs would walk into our first team aswell.
