What accountability measures have the FA put into place for refereeing performances such as this?

Lets be honest about today's performance, if Mourinho or Ole had sent us out to play like that they'd be getting slaughtered.

Some will call me negative because Villa have been in really good form and we have contained them. However, when we were containing teams like Villa in past years, people used to cry that its not the United way and we should be playing more attacking football.

I don't remember us creating a serious chance to score. The statos may tell me we had good territorial advantage and all that. All I saw was us playing the ball about around the Villa box. Villa will come off the field feeling a bit surprised that we haven't melted like butter under a hot knife. However, their defence won't be feeling like they had to weather the storm. Nobody in the Villa back four will be panting heavily in the changing room at half time.

All very midtable and very average. All you can say in the manager's favour is that the players are clearly still responding to what he wants. But, honestly, after all that money spent and all the gabbing about game models, nothing we've seen today couldn't have been coached by Solskjaer.

I do wonder where that incisive team that won the FA Cup final a few months ago went.

If ETH cannot see Bruno is a the problem, he should go
Also, Garnacho should sub off..he is individualism
Garnacho has made good runs into dangerous positions and not been picked out. The most criminal Fernandes passing the ball and forcing him out wide when he could have been clean through on goal after making a great run.

    Villa underwhelming.
    United uninspiring.
    Referee useless.

Still feel the end is nigh here. ETH set up overly cautious which is understandable but I don’t think we have enough threat or the concentration to keep them out for the full 90.
sums it up well... problem is if we concede, can we step up the tempo.... recent history says no

I would be creative and put Zirkzee on for Bruno, but our captain is absolutely untouchable even if he took a piss over the Trinity statue laughing his head off.

Usual shite when he's in self preservation mode. Sit deep, 4 at the back with the wingers sitting deep like wing backs. Basically a 6 3 1 formation, with our striker on his own. Villa trying to be ultra patient but ultimately they look clueless, or just struggling after their game vs Bayern. Villa miss Ramsey, McGinn and Onana, Tielemans and Barkley have been predictably poor in that midfield 3.

Could see us nicking one from a mistake or a ball over the top, unless Villa can get their game going a bit more. But I don't think they will, when I saw their injuries I knew we'd have a good chance today.

€100m on de ligt and Martinez only for them to warm the bench for Maguire and Evans for the rest of the season would be pretty funny

Can never get my head around this hatred for Bruno. He is head and shoulders above everyone else in the team, he’s our best player

Surely that criticism should be levelled at Emery and the home team? Literally a top 4 team, hosting a crisis club in 14th and they look scared and are playing like Stoke.

Villa have gotten good results but they have not been dominant, this is kinda a normal villa performance.

Was there a game where our "tall and strong" striker wasn't bullied by defenders?
He really is becoming a joke, he looks so out of his depth, touch, football intelligence and physically not being able to impose himself, this year he’s 22 when do we see the investment of £70m start to pay off. It’s such a shame be age he has all the attributes physically to be a monster number 9.

Because we play to not concede. That is good for midtable clubs but should not be good for us.
We are rubbish. So realistically we go back to basics to build back enough confidence to become more expansive. I can't argue with that. I'd rather be bored than fed up after another shagging.

Who are the other high ups sat between SJR and SAF. Bald guy looked distinctly unimpressed

Do they often all rock up at away games or could it mean something (ETH getting the sack hopefully)

This is the worst half Villa will have in a long time, and we created absolutely nothing.

    Nothing, nada, niente. No. Thing.

If Villa improve even 1% next half, it's 2-0 them.

Villa been dross allowing us to have an element of control but no goal threat.
Hojlund looks awful. Lower league level. Martial was lazy but at least he had ability on the ball.
It’s shocking we have started a season with only two rookie strikers in Zirkzee and Hojlund. The mighty man united and that’s the best we have.
he's way better than martial, who never even looked interested in his last 3-4 seasons (if he hadn't tripped over a a molecule of air and sprained his earlobe)

A bit of a dull game so far, but we've performed fairly well. Villa haven't really shown up yet—whether that's down to us playing well or them lacking motivation after their midweek win is hard to say.

My concern is that they'll likely come out stronger in the second half. Hopefully, we can maintain our defensive solidity while also stepping up our attacking threat in the final third.

Good 45 minutes by Maguire and Evans. They have been so much better than De Ligt and Martinez last time. In fact the first half from Evans is one of the best by a United players this season so far.
Evans is *Fergie class*, we don't have many of that ilk.

*Feck world class, we are miles away from that

It's alright so far. Certainly look more defensively sound throughout the team, although haven't done much in an attacking sense other than the early Rashford chance.

Shame for Maguire that he got what looks like a bad injury (at first glance) just when he's gotten a chance to claim a starting place.

I don't have much faith that we'll go on and win this, but we might not lose.

It’s been far from impressive, but we’re in a good spot. Reduced them to not a lot, though I’d bet on them scoring first.

    Odd.

Evans, not for the first time, outperforming all our other cbs. Yet all on here just constantly bitch about him and didn't even want him to sign a new deal. He's unironically been one of our best signings under ETH
100% , he's been great for us given it was a free transfer too.

Villa have been rubbish. We've managed to defend better, that's it.
I don't see any sparks of optimism, if anything Emery is going to fire a rocket up Villa's backside and they'll batter us in the 2nd half.

I cannot understand why Erik doesn't play Rashford, Hoijund and Amad. Why does he need to freshen up the squad? Garnacho is doing nothing on the right. Why does Bruno play? He is playing so badly for so many games yet this man start the game. He always overhit every ball, just when you think there is a chance the ball goes long. Why not put Eriksen there? Judge me at the end of the season say Erik, I say to him "You Wish".
