We've spent 100 million on two strikers who can't score. Genius

Seen better matches but controlling the game away from home when most thought we would battered is good enough for the 1st 45.

Seems our attackers are scared to shoot outside of 6yds.

Not a great half but I'll take a point if offered considered what we've been through in the last game. We've reverted to full counter and it seems Villa can't find an answer. Maguire being injured and ref being a bellend are the two negatives. Otherwise it's an uninspiring, uneventful game.

Yes. I’m sorry but there definitely does seem to be such a clear bias against us from them.

I honestly do wonder if there is something to the idea that Fergie’s teams ruined their childhoods. Rob Jones is 37 so his entire childhood was us winning everything and he’s from Merseyside.

The good thing is we’ve been pretty organised and have actually defended well. The bad is the attack, it’s just filled with players that aren’t good enough.

Playing like a side trying not to lose rather than looking to win.

Really hope this is the end of ETH

This club is hopeless, buying Hoijund buying Antony buying Sancho buying Maguire for obsence $$$ where they are no more 40 million player. Hoijund seems to be someone in our U21 who should go out for a loan.

Only two shots on target and both from United, who would have predicted that. Hopefully the injury to Magurie doesn't ruin a good defensive showing in the 2nd half.

We've just come to park the bus. Seems under Ten Hag we have a choice between moderate attacking threat and a completely suicidal defensive shape, or a solid defensive shape with no attacking threat at all.

The state of officiating is actually comical…tell me how Eriksen gets booked in first few minutes of match yet Barkley pulls Brunos jersey and gets nothing

FFS! I don’t usually comment on the Match Day Thread but I’m fuming with the reffing in this game. We’ve had 3 players booked (neither of which deserved it) and the only challenge that warranted a yellow (the shirt pulling by Barkley on Bruno) wasn’t given.

Even Andy Thownsend on punditry said ‘such yellow cards are best kept in the ref’s pocket’

    Villa underwhelming.
    United uninspiring.
    Referee useless.

Still feel the end is nigh here. ETH set up overly cautious which is understandable but I don’t think we have enough threat or the concentration to keep them out for the full 90.

Villa been dross allowing us to have an element of control but no goal threat.
Hojlund looks awful. Lower league level. Martial was lazy but at least he had ability on the ball.
It’s shocking we have started a season with only two rookie strikers in Zirkzee and Hojlund. The mighty man united and that’s the best we have.

I pray the next manager we get has the balls to speak out on these disgraceful refereeing performances we always seem to get screwed by.

    A booking is a booking

Except how many times have we seen it where the ref decides its too early. I agree with you, but as always it's the infuriating lack of consistency. Barkley then almost pulls fernandes shirt off on the break and nothing. Mainoo gets booked for being kicked. And anything close to a judgement call is going villas way. Its a terrible showing from the ref.

is it me or is the ref being bit unfair!
He's given every single decision against us and harsh yellows, it's a joke.

Our players are getting more frustrated too which leads to more yellows and more poor play, we know how fragile and petulant our players are.

I still don't understand why bruno tried that flick. His previous 3 passes were knocked out of play.

If ETH cannot see Bruno is a the problem, he should go
Also, Garnacho should sub off..he is individualism

The ref is trying so hard to be the star of the show. Trying to ooze confidence and authority after almost every questionable decision.

Evans, not for the first time, outperforming all our other cbs. Yet all on here just constantly bitch about him and didn't even want him to sign a new deal. He's unironically been one of our best signings under ETH

Dull first half. We haven’t played that badly but we look toothless in attack so in the 2nd half we need to find a way to get at them. We are really struggling with the ref today, he’s been very keen to give us the 3 yellows.

We've been fine. Villa woeful. Ref...interesting.

For all the hype Villa get, I still think they hugely benefit from being 'allowed' to be so negative with the ball. Definitely feel like the team with the ball in play the least, and their tendency to always give Martinez 2 minutes on the ball before event hinking about attakcing simply wouldn't be permitted at a 'bigger' club imo. Its dour football.

Smart at winning free kicks though, world class fall and screaming going on out there.

We've just come to park the bus. Seems under Ten Hag we have a choice between moderate attacking threat and a completely suicidal defensive shape, or a solid defensive shape with no attacking threat at all.

We have not been good and not looked like scoring but we have not even remotely parked the bus.
