Not going to lie with Coutinho and Digne, Villa now look to have the better squad..

    you sure about that?
Hm, clearly it's not all that rosy but it hasn't been of late.

Also, I like the look of our front 4. Bruno, Cavani and Greenwood did well together last season and Ellanga provides some much needed dynamism.

I didn't have high expectations anyway, so we might get a pleasant surprise for a change.

Disappointing lineup. 2 man midfield with Matic in there will give us zero control.

Same 2 man midfield as usual
We are paying Martial’s wages but not playing or putting him on the bench -makes no sense
Hopefully some individual performances can save us to today

I like Aston Villa`s new song:

Wake me up before you go go
Who needs Grealish, when you`ve got Coutinho?

In other news, Donny is so done, he might as well have been cooked by the sun itself.

Jones was our best player last league match, so why does he not start ahead of Lindelof?

You are right, shouldn’t be so pessimistic, let’s hope we can pull in a decent performance! Can’t take another shite one.:(

I like that Ralf has no issue starting an academy player ahead of £80 million Sancho to prove a point. I hope the rest of the squad take notice, especially Bruno who is surely next if he doesn't step up his game.

Why do we need 2 goalkeepers on the bench? Or has Henderson been undergoing some secret training to play in another outfield position. I wonder what DVB must be doing in training to keep getting ignore.

Sancho’s just come back from injury. he wasn’t even on the bench on for the game on Monday

The only rational explanation I can think of for having 2 keepers on the bench, is if DDG's fitness is slightly suspect, or he's reported being unwell earlier on.
Apart from squad rotation during a match (cup games and dead rubbers etc,), Goalies are rarely subbed, even through injury.
Unless deGea is touch and go to be fully fit for the whole game, then surely we've wasted a place on the bench?

Jones was our best player last league match, so why does he not start ahead of Lindelof?

Probably because Jones has an extensive history of putting one or two good performances together, leading to “he must start!” reactions, followed by an absolute mare or two to remind people that he isn’t very good.

Lindelof has been consistently good this season and is a far more solid and reliable option.

I like that forward 3. Great workrate in Elanga and Cavani and, if he's on his game, great finesse in Mason.

Gerrard seems way more eloquent since becoming a manager…now he sounds almost like a functioning human being.
