so back to the same formation we played under Ole for the past 2 seasons with Bruno back to the #10 position

going with youth in elanga and greenwood with high work rate in Cavani up top

Be interesting to see if the aggressive pressing shows up, considering it’s a young forward line with Cavani, who always puts in a shift.

The only rational explanation I can think of for having 2 keepers on the bench, is if DDG's fitness is slightly suspect, or he's reported being unwell earlier on.
Apart from squad rotation during a match (cup games and dead rubbers etc,), Goalies are rarely subbed, even through injury.
Unless deGea is touch and go to be fully fit for the whole game, then surely we've wasted a place on the bench?

    Is our bench even full?

i think Donny and Matic/Fred would be better served against Villa with Bruno as we need to have a bit of possession as you know Gerrard will bring that Klopp style of pressing to Villa so we have to be able to put our foot on the ball and keep it

i think you will see a big shift from Elanga as he's trying to impress the gaffer....greenwood isn't much of a pressing type. what i want to see is how Greenwood defends off the ball when they are attacking down Elanga's side of the pitch. Does he drop off and stay wide OR does he pinch high and stop that switch to the weak side CB?

I had such hopes for the FA cup game and it was an absolute shit show. In theory both Bruno and Cavani work their socks off but in practice? Midfield was overrun, no pressing etc.

Now I go in with fairly low expectations just hoping to be surprised.

Right come on boys big big chance to impress… let’s go!

Great to see Elanga given this opportunity.

The good thing about having Elanga on the pitch is that he will try and feed Cavani, instead of cutting inside for a shot, a la Rashford and Greenwood. He will also try and run in behind, take it to the byline and cross.

It is only a matter of time before the penny drops and they realise that the supply line to the strikers is none existent. If Greenwood carries on being selfish, I would swap him out for Sancho and I think the balance of our side will automatically improve and become more cohesive.

I worry this game could be too much for Telles physically. Villa will be aggressive down his side.

Only De Gea, Varane and Bruno I really want to see in a United starting-11. The rest are not good enough as I see it.
