Nice to see Elanga getting a start. Not sure what to make of no Rashford in the squad, might be for the best. Assuming Ronaldo is still injured. Is Wan Bissaka suspended or injured?

Great to see Captain Shambles on the bench, hopefully he was one of those that wanted away.

Decent lineup imo but I don't like Matic and Telles. Anyway pretty excited to see Cavani Greenwood and Elanga.

Henderson on the bench so him storming out must be horse shit.

Rashford is not even on the bench and imo it's a good decision. Something is seriously wrong with him recently and him sitting out for a while maybe good for him.

Shaw is suspended I think so Telles had to play

Are Rashford, Ronaldo, Amad, Maguire, AWB, and Shaw all injured? We don’t have any new cases atm, do we?
Shaw's banned isn't he? Weird that some didn't even make the bench but we do have 3 games over the next 7 days.

It almost feels like the club are in some kind of 'constructive dismissal' operation with VDB; demoralize him so that he hands in a transfer request so they don't have to pay out a loyalty bonus (if such a thing exists).

Ralf has gone for a more attacking line up.
If he played VDB instead of Bruno it would indicate we are more concerned about Villa than us being more on the front foot.

No idea. Cannot understand why we haven't got a couple of youngsters on the bench rather than only naming 8 and 2 keepers.

Might still be doing the "different Covid bubbles" thing.

2 goal keepers and only 8 subs despite having outfield players available for selection. Pathetic

Yeah you’re right. McTominay too. Guess the games are just coming too quick and fast for some

I’m really starting to lose faith in RR. Why the feck is he playing two cm’s again?

Did people actually think Van de Beek is going to start? He is finished here. But I'm so glad to see Rashford completely dropped and Maguire benched.

Also, two goalkeepers on the bench? What's up with that?

Why waste a space on the bench for a 3rd keeper when you could get a youngster on the bench?

    Just weird.

Let’s hope the stand in players will do a decent job and get a result tonight otherwise the likes of Rashford and Maguire will walk back into the team and no hard work needed to earn their spots back

Yep, it’s beyond a joke now, he‘s not set the world alight yet but come on give the lad a chance.
Do you believe he’s put performances in in training that have earned a start and still been overlooked by two managers? I really don’t. I think he’s either not shown the quality or not shown the right attitude or temperament to convince the coaches he’s worth it.

I could understand the fuss over him not playing if he put in the performances when he does get a chance but he’s like an even more shy Tom Cleverley.

No issues personally with that lineup. A few players unavailable for various reasons. If hes dropping players for performing poorly then good on him, thats how it should be.

Still see villa winning this though.

You would have thought he’d go with 3 midfielders after saying we took control when Donny came on, if we get our run again, which would be virtually every game under him, he better not talk of control again.

Greenwood,Cavani and Bruno were all key players for us last year when we were comfortably a top 4 team. There are no excuses today.

Diallo is a championship level player.
Because Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs were significantly worse than they are this year. Bruno, and Cavani have progessively become worse and Elanga works hard, is fast but is average on the ball.

Even Greenwood has very much stagnated.

And no, Diallo isnt. Not calling for him to start, mind.

Rashford dropped it seems? big chance for Elanga.

    no Donny :(

Another midfield battle lost. Defence have to be outstanding and the attack clinical if we’re to get anything here.
Yeah look kinda like that. Will be a tough watch imo. Hopefully we'd win though. We should make a new defensive midfielder top priority in the summer.

The only real questions I have is, why do we only have 8 subs? Why isn't AWB on the bench? If we get an injury at FB, we're in trouble.

We've all seen the DVB for ajax in the CL when hes full of confidence and on fire. Hes a very good player. Dont forget were it not for covid outbreak originally he would have been a real madrid player. The deal was done and dusted. He needs to leave for the sake of his career. Go elsewhere, get playing and back to DVB of old and top clubs will come knocking again.

Donnie couldn't buy a start but glad to see Elanga getting a chance and Sancho back. Ronaldo is a big miss but why is Rashford not on the bench?

This is what I find so strange. We looked a lot more solid in midfield when VDB came on against Villa.
