Carrick is wasted at the back in a game like this I think. Need someone like him playing the ball around in midfield and looking for the killer pass. Rooney has been spraying the ball about but nothing that is causing Villa any problems. Fletcher has been abysmal. Evans again not playing well.

We have been poor all over though. It has the pace of a training game. There needs to be more urgency and we need to mix it up a bit. Every time we get into decent areas the ball always seems to end up with Young or Valencia.

Reminds me of last season when everyone was crying for Rooney, RVP, Mata and Kagawa to play together and it ended up being unbalanced and shit. I don't see how Falcao is going to get goals in this team because we aren't carving enough chances at the minute.

Are you gonna try and convince me that we have played well at pretty much any point this season, let alone this match? Even as we have been winning I see our frailties. We HAVE been lucky to win 6 on the bounce. I watch us week after week and it is my opinion that we will not get into the top 4. I am not being overly emotional. It's my opinion. I think the football we play and a lot of the players we have are average, at best.

    Seriously, get a grip.

    --------------------DDG-----------------------
    Rafael----------Jones----Evans-------Young
    -------------------Carrick-------------------
    -------------Valencia------Di Maria---------------
    --------------------Rooney--------------
    ------------Falcao----------RvP-------------------

I would take that. Puts an actual full back in, injects pace with Di Maria and it moves Rooney into a scoring position.

Just take fletch and mata out put Di Maria and rafa in and push carrick in holding role and Valencia as right shuttler..This is so boring to watch.

Rooney in midfield is mind boggling tbh ,offers absolutely not much apart from the most telegraphed ball in the whole league ball to valencia.

You can't rip into strikers/attackers if you're setup in a way that completely accommodates the defence playing man to man defense. That's what we're doing, basically allowing their players to follow van Persie, Mata and Falcao around to a man.

Although Mata has been very Mata in his general play.

Take off Fletcher and Mata, and bring on Rafael and Di Maria. 442 diamond, please!

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Evans - Young
    Carrick
    Valencia - Di Maria
    Rooney
    Van Persie - Falcao

Id go with this foramtion to be honest. Only problem is we are only left with one sub and Falaco will probably only last till 70 mins. Then we are left with no sub for the last 20 mins and we will probably pick up an injury and have to play with 10. Maybe better to leave mata on and take off Falaco and leave the one sub for injury.

Evan's made a crucial tackle to stop Villa from creating a glorious chance on goal, so not useless. But I agree with everything else.
Fair enough, didn't know if that was him or any of the others. You're right it was a good play but overall the ball dies when it comes to him.

Make a few changes, go with an attacking lineup.

Fletcher and Evans have been fairly pointless.

Don't know why everyone's so surprised. We have never looked good in a 352, apart from pre-season. Southampton, Liverpool, Swansea, Burnley, Arsenal.

Fletcher and Evans, you have to laugh really. Fletcher's passing is so negative and Delph is just walking past him as if he isn't even there. Evans, the less said, the better. Poor for the goal and his passing only knows one way – back. Overall no pace, no control in midfield – surprise surprise, playing 3-5-2 and we're dogshite. Couldn't see this com.... oh!

i find watching Fletcher and Valencia just too painful, highlights the EXACT attitude that caused us to finish where we did last year...Di Maria on

    -------------De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Evans - Young
    -------------Carrick
    -------Valencia - Di Maria
    -------------Rooney
    ------Van Persie - Falcao

We need quick passing from Carrick, plus energy from Valencia and Di Maria in our midfield... Come on Utd!!!

service to the strikers needs to me much better, mata and Rooney have been passing sideways far too often..

Di maria for Fletcher is the only sub I'd make but the same team will come out

    wake up

the formation is blameless, we were the much better team and they created no clear cut chances and a goal from a set piece

what the 352 cant legislate for is players not having bottle, or the legs when needed, we showed 2 or 3 very quick good passing moves that fizzled out so its there

    its up to the players

And people here still think Johnny Evans is/was top class. That's fine. Forget the defense, as an attacking unit, how many chances do we create? I can count on one hand the number of chances we have created in the last 5 games. It's a lot of passing without going anywhere, the importance of possession is to hurt the opposition, we just pass the ball for the sake of it, and what does Mata do?

What did Evans do wrong exactly? Or you're just one of those who accuse a player of being bad no matter if he had a good game or not?

    ----------------de gea
    Valencia jones mcnair young
    ------------------carrick
    -----------di maria -----januzaj
    -------------------rooney
    ---------------rvp ------falcao

3 changes... do it and win. Simples

Raphael on for Fletcher. Switch to back four moving Carrick into midfield. Rachael and Valencia could do better than Jones and Valencia.
I think Rapglael should come on as well.

Also think that Carrick should be allowed to go further up to allow Rooney to go further up.

We have a lot of fans who are either watching a different match or don't see games the same way I do. Okay..question...Did we have a single shot on target in the first half?

We play far too conservatively, as if we were already 3-0 up.

No player in midfield is able to spot a run and play a through ball, that's the big difference with a team like City who have Nasri, Touré and Silva. That should be Mata and Rooney's role but they look afraid to take any risk.

We are not testing Villa's defense enough, and yet we have much more space and less pressing to face than in our usual away games. We should win comfortably but we're not playing the right game at all. Hopefully Van Gaal doesn't wait for the hour mark to change his system.

When are this lot going to put in a performance? I'm not talking about a result I mean a proper performance.
We did against Hull City. Granted, they're not an elite opponent but it does answer your question nevertheless.

Also I dont know why, but this season RVP loves hogging the ball, "trying" to dribble for no reason past players just past halfway line, only to lose ball continously

When Young is our most dangerous player then something is truly awful. We keep possession for the sake of it, no chances created, very lethargic and pointless football in the first half.
