perfect storm for the gooners. Coming off a terrible loss midweek against olympiakos and having their manager absolutely tear into them. You always knew they would be raring to go for this one.
Us on the other hand were just flat, possibly from the fatigue of the midweek fixture? We also set ourselves up very naively to begin the game and it gave them all the space they needed.
Playing midfielders as defenders is also a root cause of getting exposed at the back.
Leadership (and any semblance of a good performance) from Rooney was non existent.

Fact is despite a dire performance and a hammering that has been coming, we're still second. I'd still have taken that at the start of the season
well, there's the rooney losing the ball all the time(lvG fault as he persists), there is the chance for Martial and Schwein plus Rooneys shot. We got battered the first 20, with a little luck Martial would have put us back in the game. That being said. Everyone was shit today, Martial did alright.

But unfortunately LVG went about it in the wrong way - he strengthened midfield and attack (slightly) but only got Darmian and we have no strength in depth there.
I mean if we have to resort to playing Young and Valencia as fullbacks then we have something wrong.
I watch lots of Italian football and their defence is always strong so if we don't buy players for the back four we are going to struggle tremendously!The worst I've felt after a defeat for ages.
