  • Just realised that if we somehow won this, we'd only be 3 points off arsenal which seems mental. :lol:

    that said, i dont think we will and dont think there should be huge pressure to win. I would however, like to see us face a contender with at least some semblance of shape and competitiveness - who knows what happens then

    Shows you how good our season could have been had ETH not fecked up our easier games. I’m not expecting anything against Arsenal at the Emirates. Especially when we are still adjusting to a new system.
     
    Suspect we'll lose, and probably lose quite heavily. But given where both teams are, it is what it is.

    Saying bruno has not come close to running an attack which competes for the title is just stupid because it's who he has in attack for last two years

    Odegaard has two mids behind him who are technical and provide stability . It becomes easy for him to link up and control the midfield.

    Add bruno to the arsenal mid and he will will improve them.
    Add Odegaard to United mid and he might also struggle as our whole system itself was weak.

    I mean, it was Bode Glint.... and it was one game.
    In that game he still could not help himself playing Hollywood passes, and he still could not keep the ball under pressure

    Maguire will come in now which will hopefully help with defending set pieces.

    If I had to guess I think it’ll be him at LCB and not De Ligt, as Maguire has played there previously with England.
     
    Losing both Martinez and Shaw is such a killer blow. Not only that they are great defenders on the wide CB position, now we will have either Maguire or De Ligt against Saka which scares me. Plus we will lose their obvious ability to play through the lines which is very important against top teams.

    Having said that I am very excited for tomorrow but somewhat anxious because we are at very infancy stage of Amorim era and if Arsenal comes up with a slightly different structure to our expectation, we would have players very unsure about who to pick up and which area to press etc and could easily have a drubbing. I am expecting a high scoring draw. 2-2 perhaps.

    Yeah, that's the obvious huge problem. Not sure there's anything Amorim can do tactically to mitigate that other than play defensive counter attack style.

    Fully expect easy Arsenal win 2-0 or 3-1, at least 2 goals to come from arsenal right.

    Despite that I'm excited to see how Amorim will set us up and how we'll play
     
    The prospect of Evans or Maguire against Saka and Odegaard on the left is a scary one. No idea how Amo is going to solve this. I would rather he go with a 4231 in mid-block this game.

    I would prefer us to go with Mazaraoui as LCB and start Yoro at RCB. Arsenals attacks are more focused down their right hand side so Yoro would hopefully not be overworked on the right side. After 60 mins, we can take him off for Maguire.

    I’d have confidence in Mazraoui against Saka than any of our other available defenders at the moment.
     
    I think 2-2. We will score first then score the equalizer in stoppage time. I hope Amorim brings his bag of tricks. Would like to see Shaw and Mount start.

    I this is going to be the right lineup. And that back 5 does not inspire confidence.

    Its going to be a late heartbreaker where they bundle something ugly and cheap in from a set-piece, or we do something stupid in the 85th, and we lose 0-1. But, who knows. Maybe Ruben is different?!
     
    Not feeling confident at all now. I was predicting a draw but looking at the fact that they scored 13 goals in the past 3 games, and our makeshift defence on that left side with the absence of Shaw and Martinez, I am worried.

    They lead the league in red cards, hopefully they get their fourth red card of the season nice and early in the game!
     
    Looking forward to this game. First big game under Amorim. Wonder how he sets us up to play.
     
    This game will be full of suffering. I feel we're getting a beatdown in the first half, to somehow recover and steal a point in the end.
