Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Onana

Mazraoui - De Ligt - Shaw

    Ugarte - Bruno

    Amad - Mount - Garnacho - Dalot

    Hojlund

I’m torn between Rashford and Garnacho. Rashford has a knack for delivering in big games and has found his scoring touch recently. Garnacho, however, is our top scorer this season and is relentless, though he seems more effective out wide than as an inside forward.

Given that Hojlund is likely to start up front, I don't necessarily feel the need for a pacey runner like Rashford or Garnacho. Alternatively, Amorim could opt for Bruno and Mount playing behind Hojlund, with Ugarte and Eriksen controlling the midfield.

Amazing how match-day staring lineups have become less predictable now that Amorim is in charge without the illogical bias ETH had towards certain underperforming players.

Shame that our next two away games are Arsenal and City. That could kill our momentum.
Ten Hag burned easy schedule and gave Amorim tough one.

I think it will be a more defensive approach

    Onana
    DeLigt - Maguire - Shaw
    Mazraoui Dalot
    Ugarte Bruno
    Mount Amad
    Hojlund

I expect us to lose, and that's fine. I just want to see us putting in effort, working hard for the full 90, and at least making it competitive whilst not resorting to super negative tactics

Performance is the main thing. Don’t want to see us only playing for 10 minutes, missing a hat full of sitters then conceding in the last minute. I want to see us have a go.

Amad, Maz, Ugarte, Onana and 7 others

First real test. Don't think we'll get anything out of it but I want to see how naive/pragmatic Amorim really is.

Arsenal come into some form recently. Wrong time to play them I believe we will lose but will be a tight game. Will be a good run out for the players. This manager will not be playing for a draw for sure so a tight 2-1 Arsenal

Probably coming a few weeks too early, or we get a lucky new manager bounce for this one. Either way, not getting torn a new one is a massive improvement on the previous shit show so I'll take whatever we get.

    I'm expecting this team:

    Onana
    Maz, De Ligt, Shaw
    Amad, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dalot
    Bruno, Mount
    Hoijund
Saka is the main danger man out wide and he'll be on the side of Dalot/Shaw that I'm not too concerned about Amad defensively.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garnacho or Rashford starts instead of Mount for a threat on the counter.
I'd go with this. Legs in MF. Strong out wide. Just hopeful of a confident display, and not being wasteful.

I’d have Mainoo over Casemiro for more legs. Also don’t see Rashford being dropped after his 2 goals tonight.

We need a win otherwise title is totally done (if not already)

Some of you guys are always so pessimistic before big games its astonishing. I expect a tight game which is either a 1-1 draw or us winning it by a goal especially since Odegaard is back now. We have dropped utterly silly points at home so for some reason I'd felt more confident away from home.

I do feel however if you guys play 3 at the back like Sporting did it can end up badly for you. I expect the midfield is where we'd take control as Ugarte is a good tackler and that's about it and Casemiro's legs are gone, Mount is a pressing machine but alone isn't enough. Rashford though will be a big danger as he always is at the Emirates.

    Looking forward to it.

It's a worry that Amad played full 90 minutes, but

    ................. Onana

    ... Mazraoui - de Ligt - Shaw

    Amad - Casemiro - Ugarte - Dalot

    ......... Mount - Fernandes

    ............... Højlund

Not sure about playing 2 full backs in a back 3 away at Arsenal. They’re deadly on set pieces as well.

    Onana
    Maz Maguire De Ligt
    Amad Ugarte Bruno Shaw
    Mount Rashford
    Hojlund

I think he may decide to attack them
    Onana
    Maz De Ligt Shaw
    Amad Ugarte Casemiro Garnacho
    Mount Bruno
    Rashford

Back down to earth. 3-1 loss - unfortunately they're just far better than us at present. This time in 12 months I hope we're a lot closer to them.

This games coming about a month too soon for us I'd say. They're obviously a quality team, are in top form and are at home. Just hope we don't let our heads drop during the game and are at least competitive in it, but I'd definitely be surprised with any positive result.

I'm of the opinion that these tough games are a good way to measure where we are with our progress with our new coach.
Hopefully its an opportunity for some of these players to up their game. Amad's workrate against Everton is what I'm expecting from all of them. We can get at Arsenal and City. It can be done.

City should be nothing to worry about at the minute, if we play close to our best we’ll beat them. Arsenal are a big test though.

Still annoyed about the manner of the defeat in this fixture last year. Would be nice to gain revenge but I'll a realist and know with a new manager who is still trying to find out first hand which United players are best to trust a draw would be a decent result here.

    Onana
    Mazraoui De Ligt Shaw
    Amad Ugarte Bruno Dalot
    Mount Garnacho
    Hojlund

Best lineup in terms of offensive/defensive balance and physicality, minus Licha being unavailable which is a shame. Feels like a game too soon for us in our process but this should be the team for sure.

    Onana

Casemero isn't as good as he was a few years ago and can he play two games in quick succession?

Rashford starts on the basis of today's performance.
This is what I'm thinking too. My only question would be will he start Antony or stick with Amad and trust his fitness?

We are still finding our feet and adjusting while they are at their peak. Would have liked this to come later in the season. A loss here won't bother me to much. Each game so far has showed improvement and that's all we can ask for this early in Amorims run.
I bet Arsenal are happy they face us now and not later.

    I'm actually pretty confident.

We may have lost both games last season but we did pretty well against them. We could sneak a result here.

It's actually pretty late already? Faced three quarters of the league already. I think it's not too bad for Amorim to have the first game vs. Arsenal away. Same goes for City game in two weeks. No pressure. The home games in March and April against these should be very different.
