Feck off we've thrown the towel. We couldn't beat Swansea and Sunderland with the 3-5-2.

Arsenal are going to completely destroy us.

Definitely a 3-5-2, would've wanted Herrera on for fellaini but I understand it because of fellainis height. Not a bad lineup though, given the circumstances. If nothing else, we looked solid enough at the back and Di maria is in his vest position.

    De Gea
    Smalling McNair Blackett
    Carrick
    Valencia Fellaini Di maria Shaw
    Rooney van Persie

Arsenal are also playing Monreal at center back and Chambers at right back.
This could potentially be one high scoring game...

Is it confirmed Di Maria is playing behind the strikers? Plenty of people on twitter are talking like it's been his confirmed role.

    De Gea
    McNair Smalling Blackett
    Valencia ----Carrick----Shaw
    Di Maria
    Van Persie Rooney

    something like that?
Are you lining up with 10 men because you expect Fellaini to get sent off?

    Teams

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Alexis, Welbeck.
Subs: Martinez, Bellerin, Flamini, Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Smalling, McNair, Blackett, Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Shaw, Di Maria, Rooney, van Persie.
Subs: Lindegaard, Fletcher, Herrera, Young, Mata, Januzaj, Wilson.

Height against who exactly? I would only use him against height.

Except change cleverley, fletcher and mata for Di maria, fellaini and Carrick. Makes a big difference you know.

Also arsenal lost to Swansea the last match day with their current lineup (or close to it). Quit your whinging.

I generally dislike the 3-5-2, but away at Arsenal is the time to play it, surely.

It worked best in the WC against talented teams who pass and can be gotten at on the counter.

No idea why the hell Herrera isn't starting instead of Fellani, though.

I'm not happy with the lineup, I think Mata and Herrera both should have started, but I understand that a weak back line needs protection. I still think Herrera at least offers more than Fellaini and Herrera scores too

Pretty much seems Stifle them and counter attack tactics.

    Di Maria is key.

Little bit worried about the CB's.

Our squad really is absolutly shocking in truth.

About 10 injuries, all of which could possibly get into the first team today, and we can still put out a decent team? Apart from our inexperienced defence, I personally have know issue with the team Van Gaal has put out, although I'm not a massive fan of three at the back.

    Wish I had your positivity.

The 3-5-2 is just way too reliant on pacy players, which we lack, save for Di Maria.

Definately three at the back. Be no way Van Gaal would play Smalling at RB.

    It'll be:

    De Gea
    McNair - Smalling - Blackett
    Carrick
Valencia - Fellaini - Di Maria - Shaw
    Rooney
    Van Persie

This is what I was about to post, Carrick holding means Valencia and Shaw can push on as we have four back, the centre is a diamond with RVP playing alone striker in front.

Because everyone and their dog knows that arsenals weakness is playing against height and crosses into the box given they have monreal at cb. Fellaini is basically the perfect player to exploit that. Would've preferred Herrera of course but not playing fellaini would be like ignoring the chance to take advantage of their weakness.

Christ I'd be happy with a draw come the end of 90 mins.....I'm happy with midfield and attack though....hopefully mcnair and blackett can put on a show

I'm really starting to lose faith in LVG. The 352 will be a recipe for disaster.

Raa, you guys need to chill. We've gone defensive, it will not be a blood bath at all. This will be a cagey match in which we win a vital 3 points and LVG is completely justified in trying to protect the two young CB's that we have.

Pretty annoyed that some of you seem to think that Paddy McNair isn't single-handedly keeping Arsenal quiet today.
