Rooneys agitated, he's a winner? No mate Rooneys finished

Its Jose spending it. Clearly this summer's signings were all very good and improved the team.
Improved? Look at the table we are where we were last year despite spending £150 million. As for the signing allvery good Zlatan has been very good, Bailly has been decent, Mkhitaryan average and Pogba has been poor.

I don't know what you expected him to do today. We were pinned back all game. No control of midfield and he had to track Ox-Cham up and down with a weak Darmian doing god knows what on his side. I thought his work rate was good but not much he could do when Rooney and Herrera are being outplayed and could not give him the ball in better positions.
No just simply show more energy work rat wand desire when you go out there and fight for first and second balls.

It's not beyond us to lose Thursday, a game many seem to speak about as if it's a certain thing.. then where do we go from there? Whilst it was still mathematically possible to get top four we should have gone for it.

I'm talking about this game not their whole careers. We don't have a focal point to hold up the ball, Pogba does this well to. This is why we keep getting pined back. I don't see how they are wrongly positioned, that's not an excuse. This is how Mourinho sets up against good attacking teams. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to keep the ball and establish a proper attack.
I am not sure why you are saying that he sets up defensively but that it is still nothing linked to our positioning? Did you think that Alonso, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Özil and Ramos just magically couldn't pass when faced against Barcelona? Did you think the same of the likes of Hazard and Fàbregas? Because I can definitely remember teams containing those individuals with a ridiculously low amount of possession which is mainly due an inability to pass and move properly.

The link is clear, possession and finding passing options are about the quality of the players but even more importantly about coaching, how you move in synch and always make sure to have enough numbers in the key areas. Mourinho does not even bother to build a team that way, his plan is to commit men behind the ball and ask his creative players to create something on the other end. The number of those committed at the back changes depending the opposition, hence why his teams are always isolated and unable to get a foothold on big games even when they win them which is becoming increasingly a rarity.

As I said on the other arsenal united thread, it was always europa league.

I didn't expect us to win, but this has been a gutless performance.

Surely if Mou was always treating this as a nothing game, it would make more sense to have let the players play a more attacking formation instead of 6-3-1.

What the hell.. stop overreacting you drama queens.

What the feck are you all moaning about? We'd managed the game pretty well up until the first goal, we were just lacking a counter threat because none of our attackers chose to show up.

They get a lucky goal then a second because Smalling is a shit defender and you all lose your shit? Unbefeckinglievable.

The Emirates isn't a place we have a right to win, especially with 5 of our first 11 missing through injury or because they're being rested.
You know what mate, none will listen to you... Don't waist your time.

    More agression, more desire..

These players should be wanting to put in a performance to force themselves in to the first team and prove why they should still be here next season.

Instead they've let a mentally weak Arsenal side have there way with them.
We were barely much better against City or Swansea, the only difference is that we conceded a rather fortunate goal which changed the game. The fact is we're not a very good team at all without Pogba and our main attacking outlet, Valencia.

Anybody who claims Pogba has been poor this year clearly hasn't watched our games. By far our most important player now with Zlatan gone.

It is so evident they're being told to conserve energy today. Don't care that we're going to lose. At the end of the day if it means we're more likely to win the EL I couldn't care less.

Don't really agree. I think Mou was playing for the draw but that does not mean you play with no desire. We got schooled by a bunch of players who are known to be mentally weak. This one is on both Mou and the players.

One can only hope that this proves to be the catalyst for Wenger announcing a new 8 year contract.

Fair play to Arsenal though, they've worked hard today and they'll reap the rewards with some outstanding post match selfies.

You have revealed Jose's master plan. He won't be happy!

That would be fantastic because wenger keeps his job and one of citeh/dippers are out of the CL.
Christ the state of this place if Arsenal did finish 4th and we don't win EL. Everyone will be calling for Jose to be sacked for putting out weakened sides in the league.

I dont think the performance was embarassing at all. They scored a flukey goal and it forced us to come out.

If Rooney had taken the chance earlier in the match it would have been a different story.

As has been said many many many times this year, we keep missing chances that would win us matches.

Can't believe what I'm reading, the mentality of our fans.

"They scored and it made us come out"

    Boo feckin hoo

After Liverpool drew we really should have gone after this game.

    Still not worth it.

Beat a very average Celta Vigo and then a mediocre Ajax side and we're in the CL.

    Vs.

    Beat Arsenal away
    Beat Spurs away
    Beat Southampton away
    Beat Crystal Palace

The only objective is CL, so we're right to concentrate on the one we're FAR more likely to get.

Do you think so? I thought the warning signs were there in the first half. They didn't take their best chance because De Gea produced a world class save, messed up another because the through ball was curving away from the box when Welbeck broke through, and messed up several others by getting the weight of the ball JUST wrong. Jones blocked a certain goal as well.

I don't think we've been good at all. I thought it was only a matter of time till they put their chances away. But we can agree. We would have liked to see a bit more fight.

Well depends on what you expected. We had a lot of injuries, Pogba/Rashford rested as we don't have another forward who is actually good since Ibra got injured. First half we were packed at the back and looked for counters. We let only couple of shots in. Micky being poor didn't help our counter attacking game, neither Rooney. We lack quality up front to bury chances and punish Arsenal on the break like we did often under Fergie.

As for putting up more fight - think other said it best - we're not in for the league and the concentration/mentality is not there. Arsenal wanted the win much more than us today.
