Crystal Palace Football Club (nicknamed CPFC, The Glaziers and The Eagles) are a professional football club based in South Norwood, London. Crystal Palace were founded in 1905 at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building by the owners of the FA Cup Final stadium, who wanted their own team to play at the historic venue. When Crystal Palace were founded, they turned to one of the biggest clubs in the country at the time, Aston Villa, to seek advice. Villa helped the club in a number of ways, not least by donating their kit. As a result, Palace's colors were originally claret and blue shirts paired with white shorts, socks tending to be claret. They kept to this formula fairly consistently until 1938.

The club initially played their home games at the FA Cup Final stadium which was situated inside the grounds of The Crystal Palace, but the First World War saw them forced to move out, and they enjoyed a number of seasons at both the Herne Hill Velodrome and The Nest. Although Crystal Palace have never won a major trophy, they have played in the First Division for the majority of their existence, finishing 3rd once, and losing the 1990 FA Cup Final to Manchester United. Crystal Palace play their homes games at Selhurst Park, and share sporting rivalries with South London neighbors Millwall, former tenants Charlton, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The squad is starting to look good in depth with players coming back to fitness.

    Bench Options
    Altay
    Maguire
    Evans
    Collyer
    Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Amad
    Antony

    Still to come back…
    Shaw
    Malacia
    Yoro
    Lindelof
    Mount
    Hojlund

IF we get Shaw, Yoro and Hojlund back without others getting injured we should see some real competition for places.

I do wonder if tonight’s result will impact the team much. You’d imagine Mazraoui, Martinez & De Ligt come in, but it’s a bit of guess work ahead of them.

I’d be tempted to keep Rashford at 9. Garnacho & Amad need to start.

It won’t happen but I’d be tempted to bench Bruno, and let Eriksen continue at 10 for another game.

I think he’ll pick the below though. Mainoo might come in but I think we’ll go with Casemiro & Ugarte again.

    Onana
Mazraoui - de Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Casemiro - Ugarte
    Amad - Bruno - Garnacho
    Rashford

Rashford should never start a league game as striker if we have a striker fit. We should just play the team we played against Southampton, except with Ugarte coming in.

Hot take from me is to bench Mainoo and play Ugarte with Casemiro as a base

Feels kinda weird to have positive selection dilemmas after last season.

You could argue for several different constellations of midfield and forwards.

I don't think it is too far from the truth. Mainoo has been poor lately and quite rightly needs to be dropped/rested.

Back down to earth Saturday evening, I reckon. They’ll be hungry for their first win and will be a tough atmosphere. I think we’ll lose 2-1 - hope I’m wrong!

    Eriksen deserves another start.

    I doubt Ugarte will yet.
Hard to see how we win if we went eriksen, Mainoo and Bruno. That’s to light. It will either be ugarte and Mainoo or Ugarte and Casemiro.

Same lineup as against Southampton, but Ugarte for Eriksen. I'm not entertaining the idea of starting Eriksen against a fit Palace team.

    Onana
Mazraoui - de Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Mainoo - Ugarte
    Amad - Bruno - Rashford
    Zirkzee

Bloody hate this fixture. We always seem to make a hash of it - at least that's what my memory is serving up with.
The only positive memory I have of there is Matic's screamer to win the game - which probably is 5 or so years old now.

    Onana

    Lets feck.

Onana, Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Bruno, Amad, Rashford, Zirkzee.

Think few dilemmas are which 2 of Casemiro/Ugarte/Mainoo start and whether Garnacho or Zirkzee starts (don't think Rashford or Amad will be benched). Eriksen probably won't start after starting last two games.

Our record at Selhurst Park was quite good until 20/21 season: Since then in 4 games it's been 2 defeats and 2 draws. Palace are without a win so far this season in PL so will be up for it (and probably confident after beating us 4-0 in May) but that 4-0 loss should be enough of a motivation for our players as well.

Hope I'm not getting ahead of myself but another comfortable win here and we might be really going places.

I’m hoping he might start a front 3 of Garnacho - Rashford - Amad

This one will be tricky and a win would be huge right now. Please get something out of it, at least.

While I hate to see Mainoo dropped I feel like starting Ugarte and Casemiro together in these tough away games might be the way to go. We all know Ten Hag won't drop Bruno and he is the captain I suppose.

Lost this fixture 4-0 last season, wasn't just the worst result but the worst performance United produced last season. Opportunity to see some more progress from United and it will be a much changing starting 11 as I expect only Onana,Dalot,Mainoo who started then to start again on Saturday.

I think the last comfortable win here for a 2-0 victory during lockdown with Rashford and lockdown legend Martial scoring. It’s high time we put them to the sword

Bruno and Eriksen are both 10s,why are we persisting with Bruno when his league form hasn't been good?

Eriksen has done well in his last 2 games and am not talking about just stats.

Start Eriksen as the 10 so we can have Mainoo, Casemiro and Ugarte in the midfield 2 (one of the bench in the second half.

Bruno can replace Eriksen in the second half if needed.

Palace are very mobile as a team so we need positional discipline which Bruno hasn't shown at United

    Onana
    Mazraoui---De Ligt---Martinez---Dalot
    Ugarte---Mainoo
    Amad---Bruno---Rashford
    Zirkzee

The lineup for this match should be the same one that started against Southampton, with the only change being Ugarte coming in for Eriksen. Given Eriksen’s appearances in the previous two games, it's likely he’ll take a seat on the bench for this one. Ugarte needs game time with his teammates, so it’s crucial he starts here to integrate further into the squad.

The rest of the team selection is straightforward. Garnacho might feel aggrieved about not starting, but keeping him on the bench could prove beneficial, as he has shown this season he can make a significant impact when brought on. I expect him to start in the Europa League match midweek.

It’s exciting to see our squad depth improve to the point where rotation is possible. With Hojlund, Shaw, Mount, and Yoro still to return from injuries, we’ll soon have even more competition for places. No player will be immune from being dropped if they’re underperforming, which should keep everyone on their toes and give their best.

Has been a tough fixture for us. We have a better squad now, so I‘m hoping we can put them down this time.

I'd assume it'll be the Soton lineup with Ugarte in for Eriksen.

Keep letting Garnacho cook off the bench. Amad was our best player last weekend so doesn't deserve to sit and Rashford deserves to keep his goalscoring form up. You could play all 3 I guess but if you did that I'd prefer letting Amad drift in the middle as opposed to Rashford as a "striker".

Has to be Casemiro and Ugarte in midfield. Could choose either Bruno or Eriksen to start in the third midfielder position. Garnacho Rashford Amad in attack. Zirkzee and Mainoo can come on later in the game.

Our back four/keeper easiest to pick nowadays. Which says a lot from last season. 0-2 another clean sheet. Common lads

Rashford should never start a league game as striker if we have a striker fit. We should just play the team we played against Southampton, except with Ugarte coming in.
This is what I think he does. You can tell by how he made subs as well.

    Wouldn't mind seeing:

    Mainoo - Ugarte
    Amad - Eriksen - Garnacho
    Rashford

It would be controversial to drop Bruno, but Eriksen has actually been better this season so far, and his lack of legs is less of a problem at the no. 10 position than in central midfield. But really I think ETH will choose

    Mainoo - Ugarte
    Amad - Bruno - Rashford
    Zirkzee

Which would be totally fine as well. Garnacho is often strong off the bench, and you can argue we need that physicality up front and Bruno's running. In any case, we can field a pretty good side, which is nice.

Crystal Palace hasn't registered a league win yet. We should get the three points if we are actually serious about progressing. No excuses.

Eriksen cant play 3 games in a week, and we shouldnt do that. That's bad squad management.

    Onana
    Maz--MDL--Martinez--Dalot
    Ugarte--Mainoo
    Amad--Bruno--Rashford
    Zirkzee
Pretty simple to me. This is our best team at the moment probably. Bring Eriksen, Garnacho and Maguire off the bench.

    Onana
    Mazraoui de Ligt Martinez Dalot
    Ugarte Mainoo
    Amad Bruno Garnacho
    Rashford

Quite a few players have a good argument for starting this, but I think that's probably as close to our best XI we can get until Shaw/Hojlund are back. Plenty of scope for Maguire, Casemiro, Eriksen, Zirkzee to be involved and play against Twente next week.

Just hope we build some confidence winning those games and staying fit. Then it's Spurs, Porto, and Villa (EtH's first real test) before the international break. I still think if he loses a couple of games in this run, he will be on a knife edge, could even get the boot, but I'm optimistic we will at least keep playing better.

A win here would be massive for us... all too often this is the sort of game we've f*cked up in recent times. They aren't a bad side at all, so it would be a huge confidence boost to get three points - not convinced we will given a lack of a no.9 still
