Liverpool Football Club (nicknamed The Reds) are an English professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Liverpool were originally founded in 1892 as "Everton F.C. and Athletic Grounds Ltd" (Everton Athletic for short), before finalizing on the name Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd. after a dispute between the Everton FC board and John Houlding, the owner of Everton's former premise at Anfield Road.

Liverpool's forays into competitive football started when they joined the Lancashire League. After winning the league title in their first season, Liverpool were accepted into the Football League for the 1893-94 season, following the resignations of Accrington and Bootle. Liverpool reached its first FA Cup Final in 1914, losing 1–0 to Burnley. It won consecutive League championships in 1922 and 1923, but did not win another trophy until the 1946–47 season, when the club won the First Division for a fifth time under the control of ex-West Ham Utd centre half George Kay.

One of the most successful and storied clubs in the history of European football, Liverpool have won 19 English league titles, 6 European Cups, 8 FA Cups, and 10 League Cups, peaking in the 1970s and 1980s, first under the enigmatic Bill Shankly, and then his Boot Room successors Bob Pailsey, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish. Liverpool have two fierce historic rivals: crosstown club Everton FC (matches between them are termed The Merseyside Derby), and Manchester United (stemming from the success of both teams as well as the cities' competition in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century).

New manager and no summer signings. Yet they'll probably take care of us without much hassle.

I think we'll do them. Two goal lead, then concede a fluke goal near the end and see out a nervy finish.

    Christ

    Better hope they underperform.

We have no midfield and we're wasteful with the ball in the final 3rd. The only way we get a result of any kind is backs against the wall and try to counter.

One thing is for sure, I'm not watching this game. My heart can't stand another trashing...

Honestly it will not surprise me one bit if we get a result in this game with a good spirited performance. Things will look up and all the chat about this is the bare minimum of performance to put in for the rest of the season but then we revert back to our old habits in the next game like we seen today.

This squad is like a packet of revels. Don’t know which team performance you are going to get.

Call it dramatic but if we don't win the season is set in stone as another rough one

I think we can get the win here. Surprisingly optimistic - I saw enough in today's game to suggest we'll make it more than competitive.

How can we win if we can’t score enough goals ?
Where are the goals coming from ?

Liverpool will play a bit like Brighton today, only with a better defence.

I don’t see how we win games anymore unless we score in the last minute when drawing? When we’re more likely to concede. If we’re in any position going into the last 10 we’ll just bottle it.

Only hope is we manage to hold onto a 2 goal lead for a while like we did against them a couple of years ago and like in the cup final. Or some crazy breakaway when the game is level like we did against them in the cup last year.

I think were going to lose this 2-1.

We could easily be sitting on 6 points and if we play our best team from the start, Garnacho on for a start, we can win this.

2-1 Rashford likes a goal against these.

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Licha, Dalot

    Mainoo, Casemiro, Fernandes

    Garnacho, Zirkzee, Rashford

This has to be the starting XI.

Weird to say this considering it's only match 3 of the season but it feels like it could be very important going forward. A win and a new signing (hopefully) and we're going into the international break with some positivity. Defeat and it's two losses already and the mood around the club sinks yet again.

I think we'll win with it being at OT and I think the players will be fired up. Probably another chaotic game like the ones last season against them at OT.

Similar to ETHs first season, where Sancho of all players scored.

We need to fill midfield in this one and utilise Nacho’s constant running in behind on the counter.

    Damn. Mount is injured? If so then;

Do people not get tired of constantly and confidently predicting losses to Liverpool and City and regularly being wrong?

Subs: Bayindir, Zirkzee, Rashford, Mount, Maguire, Antony, Collyer, Eriksen, Evans

Embarrassing thread so far. We’ve had success against them last season and have stepped up in big games. I expect a bounce back and a big win for United.
