Brighton & Hove Albion (nicknamed The Seagulls and Albion) are a professional football club based in Brighton & Hove. The club was first formed as Brighton & Hove United on 24 June 1901, and the name was quickly changed to Brighton & Hove Albion. The club took the place of a defunct club, Brighton & Hove Rover, in the Southern League In the Southern League they won their only national honour to date, the FA Charity Shield, by defeating Football League Champions Aston Villa in 1910. There had previously been Old Brightonians, representing the area in the FA Cup in the 19th Century. The club initially played at the Hove County Ground, with a few games were also at Goldstone Ground that was used by Hove F.C. From 1902 onwards, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Hove F.C. shared the Gladstone Ground. In 1920, 19 years after the club was formed, they were elected to the Football League's new Third Division.

Mismanagement brought Brighton close to relegation from the Football League to the Conference which they narrowly avoided in 1997 and 1998. A boardroom takeover saved Brighton from liquidation, and following successive promotions they returned to the second tier of English football in 2002, from then on playing in the second and third tiers of English football until the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, where the club earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, marking the end of a 34-year absence from the top flight. Bighton's fans consider Crystal Palace to be their biggest rival with matches between them termed the M23 derby, and they play their home games at Falmer Stadium.

We've started both the previous seasons with away losses. I'll take the draw right now.

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

    Amad, Bruno, Garnacho

    Zirkzee

No doubt ETH will pick his buddies Rash and Mount though.

I’d agree with this. I’d be tempted to switch the full backs but not overly fussed.

    Nacho-----------------------------------------------Amad
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dalot---------------------------------------------Mazraoui
    ----------------Martinez-----Maguire--------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------Onana------------------------------

This'll be tough but if we're even a little bit more polished in front of goal we should win this.

Drop Mount for Zirkzee. Rashford and Amad have done enough to retain places for one more game. Defence as it is.

Any sort of 3 points at this stage. Have no real concern with performance at this stage of the season, just try and accumulate as many points as possible and limit as many injuries as possible.

Bruno + Case + Mainoo is not work for me..it will create a big hole again like last season..

    Predicted Lineup:

    Onana
    Mazraoui Maguire Martinez Dalot
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Garnacho Mount Bruno Rashford

Subs: De Ligt, Evans, McTominay, Amad, Zirkzee
Predicted Score: Brighton 0-2 Man Utd (Garnacho, Bruno)

Agreed, especially away from Old Trafford you need to be careful playing the Bruno/Casemiro/Mainoo trio in midfield.

Mount is needed to pressure and hound from the front.

But this fixture might be good timing, getting Brighton early before everyone is in a rhythm.

It sounds silly this early in the season but I think this is a reasonably important match.

I think we played some good stuff today but I still think our side needs some work and momentum can help that a lot. Win the first 2 games of the season (especially in a year where I think a lot of top sides may stumble) and I think that can be quite important.

I think the points on the board in the first 6 weeks of this season are especially important as I think the lack of rest since covid will catch up with a lot of teams.

I reckon we will do it with goals from Garnacho and Bruno.

I actually agree. I think this season its important we see improvements in areas where we struggled last season. Beating Fulham today with a decent/good performance, better defensive display and lots of chances created after the issues they gave us last season is a good start. However, that needs to continue as we were pretty much outplayed by Brighton at the beginning of last season so need to show improvement there and with our general away record. The team and Ten Hag needs to slowly build back up the trust of the fanbase which is understandable. A win at Brighton with another similar decent/good performance would help that.

We've started both the previous seasons with away losses. I'll take the draw right now.
Last time United won their first away game in Premier season was against Brighton in September 2020. 3-2 and it took a penalty in the 10th minute of added time to earn that win.

Same team as today but I'll replace Maguire for De Ligt

I saw a few of their pre-season friendly highlights and they looked pretty impressive, like back to the prime RDZ months. Will be interesting to see how they handle Everton tomorrow.

Nah Maguire isn't getting benched after today.

The rest of that lineup I agree with, although Rash will start again. Not sure about Mount, will probably depend on how fit he thinks JZ is

Think many are forgetting about them because of last season, even though they had a feckload of injuries last year that derailed their season.

I need to see more patterns of play. More progress is needed to back ETH. We looked like a top 10 team, nothing special when against Fulham. Hopefully, those that were at the euros will have had more stamina to not wean off in the latter stages of the game.

Think many are forgetting about them because of last season, even though they had a feckload of injuries last year that derailed their season.

Yup. They've got some serious talent and ballers in that team. A front three of Mitoma, Minteh and Pedro is quite scary for defenders. They could have another 'breakout' season this year. I don't think we're going to change our game plan against them, which is basically defend well and counter attack but I expect a very tough game. I personally hope we destroy them very clinically and perhaps ETH does a master class with our counter pressing but that's unlikely to happen to play out that way.

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

This is the best lineup we can field right now. But as you said, Rashford for some strange reason seems undroppable. Mount will definitely be dropped for Zirkzee after the goal and I expect Maguire to drop for De Ligt.

De Ligt shouldn't be starting ahead of Maguire.

Maguire was great in his first game and till he makes a mistake, he should continue. You should be punished or rewarded for your performances. Maguire should be rewarded and be allowed to continue.

It's a long season, De Ligt will get his chances. Maguire and Martinez should continue.

I think there were some real positives from the game yesterday. Maguire, Casemiro, Mazraoui and Zirkzee being among them.

I don't think we're any better tactically though, against a very average Fulham we looked vulnerable and low on ideas. Brighton are very different, and I've no doubt that EtH will continue to play Rashford for whatever reason, so I expect a loss here.

I'll go 2-1 Brighton with Zirkzee continuing to impress from the bench.

I really think we should swap Dalot and Maz. Dalot doesn't have the tekkers to be a viable attacking threat on his wrong foot. I suspect Maz does. That way both our wings could be a functional attacking unit.

If we go in with Casemiro, Mainoo and Bruno as the midfield three they’ll run through us, we need some legs and tenacity in there hence why I’d play Mount as well.

They will press us high, its unfair, but De Ligt needs to come in for Maguire. It will be a different sort of test than against Fulham. Otherwise, same team. Zirkzee not fit enough to start, use him and Garnacho off the bench.

Brighton coming into this game with a comfortable win against a woeful Everton, will that be a help of hindrance for United?

    Onana

    Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot

    Casemiro, Mainoo

    Amad, Bruno, Garnacho

    Zirkzee

No doubt ETH will pick his buddies Rash and Mount though.

We looked worse when mount went off to be fair, we had a semblance of control which disappeared and became frantic when he departed.

I'd like to believe we can start Ugarte in this match.

    Onana

    Mazroaui Maguire* Martinez Dalot

    Casemiro Mainoo
    Mount
    Garnacho Bruno Rashford

    *If injured, for De Ligt.

    We need Mount's pressing.
