UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

PSG are fast... but without finishing it counts for nothing obviously. entirely reduced on long shots and corners, which Liverpool endured thanks to Alisson, while they conceded the first time Liverpool got in their penalty area. PSG I don't think they would've scored even if it went to extra time.

Donarumma had made way worse blunders in his carreer, this wasn't as bad as some of them, it looked worse because of his size. Yet of course looking at what Allison made today, he could have done better.

Pedri and Vitinha with great fecking games, the late deserved to get more of his

Football is silly sometimes. Still don't think that the tie is over. PSG have goals in them and will come at us next week.

Still, that's gutting for them. Put everything into that and got nothing. Alisson MOTM easily.
Nah. A CL glamour tie against Villa is inevitable now.

Exactly this. PSG didn't look like scoring at all in the second half.

Referee and VAR bottled that match by not sending Konate off.
PSG showing this year's PL isn't anything special.

I miss this being us. Big European away night, we’re second best all night, and come away with a narrow win. These kind of victories are so satisfying
It’s been so long since we played a game with anything on the line, or anything worth getting really nervous for. Probably the cup final was the last one, but we went 2-0 up pretty quickly. The Barcelona game 3 years ago? I know what you mean, we haven’t had that in ages

One of the easiest Motm decisions in a long while.

One man show from Alisson tonight.

They couldn’t finish their dinner in their own stadium. What chance have they got at anfield?

Allison was stopping everything in sight though. It was an inspired goalie performance. One of those games where if they played the same game 10 times, PSG probably win it more often than not. If they come at Liverpool like they did tonight, Liverpool are kind of beatable.

You see a clear as day red like that...then look back on decisions like Nani, Rafael, Rashford...it's something we did wrong in the cosmos.

The good thing might be that you can't play worse than this and Allison is on fire.

Szczesny with another great save, another kepper with an incredible night to save the day.

I hope you’re right, I just don’t trust the French spurs to achieve anything requiring the smallest amount of mettle.

Of course Allison had a great game, particularly in the first half and that great save in the second, but PSG's finishing was getting less and less convincing as the game went on, and they were too casual about a lot of their chances. They were very good in the buildup but still lack a cutting edge in these kind of games.

Although it should be repeated ad nauseam - they should've been playing with 10 men for most of that game

Some of the sliding doors decisions that have gone against us in Europe bug the shit out of me.

I think Slot made a change in shape with Diaz dropping deeper in the second half. We ended up reducing the quality of PSG's chances to less threatening ones. First half they should've had at least one.

Liverpool are too strong defensively for PSG and unlikely to let this slip at home.

However on this evidence they're very beatable and you have to think the likes of Bayern or Madrid would have put Liverpool to the sword tonight with their cutting edge.

So strong defensively they allowed them to have like 30 shots? 9 on target? Yeah, that doesn't make sense. That suckerpunch counter goal however.... PSG's mentality might not be able to cope with it.

Yeah you closed ranks in the second half, which meant you were super tight but also barely had an outball solution, but it ended up working. I found the second half quite boring after a very fun first one.

Incredibly lucky.

Truly lost for words. Clear red not given and utter domination on the pitch and PSG lose.

If they don't concede early next week, they still have a chance.

Nah, I recall one of Allisson's saves in the second half that was pretty much incredible, flying like freaking superman and touching it with the tip of his fingers. Yes PSG must improve a LOT with their finishing and they ended without ideas, yet still Pool had some major luck and Allison on more than a great day.

If they both make it through, Barca would definitely beat Liverpool imo. They're a lot more clinical.

From Douai's shot. That was the only really impressive stop in the second half (iirc). Overall they were a lot less threatening than in the first.

PSG robbed but they have to take blame for not taking any of their chances.

Their midfield is really ace and Liverpool couldn't compete

They lost and had issues scoring for one simple reason. They don't have a proper striker. I await the days when coaches and football as a whole goes back to the deployment of a proper #9. Games are won and lost on fine margins.

Yes indeed on both accounts, but that save was just incredible and he also shut down some crosses that with a more stationary and less proactive attitude could have end badly. Yet that also shows that at one point PSG (maybe tired) just started to abuse crosses.
