Design is subjective but I quite like it, very unique and ambitious.

Can't say I'm too bothered about the exterior look of the stadium. Hotel Football is so ugly that it's basically ruined the walk to the ground for me anyway.

As far as the inside of the stadium looks, the roof is so high that it will be difficult to maintain a good atmosphere in the same way the Stretford Ends traps noise.

At least we won't be piss wet through with a leaking roof anymore though!

So how does financing this work in terms of PSR? Does it mean we can't sign anyone for a decade or are stadium expenses outside of PSR's focus?

They aren't outside PSR scope, no.

They'll likely be able to borrow the money at good rates seeing as it's part of a government-backed regeneration project for the city. The idea obviously is that the additional revenue generated from the stadium will more than cover the repayments.

But whilst the stadium's being built... well, they need to create some room in the budget somewhere which is probably why you're seeing mass redundancies, cuts to staff benefits and increased tickets prices...

A standard massive bowl in a huge tent. Concert venue with a bunch of chain stores and a huge court area outside selling overpriced food and drink.

Can't wait.
You were going to hate it however it looked. It does look like a circus tent though.

Well I love it. We’re going to have the best stadium in football despite being a shit show of a club for the past 10 years. No other club could do anything close to this.

I get the idea of the 'trident' but my initial thought on seeing it was that it looks kind of like a giant mosque  the netting changes the natural stadium shape to a dome and then they've put the 'trident' in like minarets.

I'm at a point where I don't really mind what it looks like, getting a modern stadium will be great no matter what but I had thought there would be more of a nod to the red brick, old trafford history, maybe some clever way to incorporate the famous cantilever roof.

Stadium designs always seem divisive, as I've seen some people here laud some of the ugliest looking buildings around while condemning buildings others think look nice.

So the main thing I wanted from a stadium design is that it doesn't look generic. And tbf whatever people think of that design, you can't really claim it's generic. It will be instantly recognisable and distinguishable from pretty much any other major stadium I can think of.

My thoughts too. They wanted iconic / stand out and something to define that part of Manchester. Purely from an architectural standpoint its ambitious and creative which we don't see enough of in football or out of football

It might trap noise in the Stretford End but this high roof looks like it's designed for maximum reverberation around the entire stadium. Think of any major theatre!

Preparation for your Qatari brethren.

Manchester United gone woke?

Here’s the video!

Hopefully this looks better in real life than it does in this video. I want a new stadium. I was thinking we'd go in the direction of Barcelona. The best I can say about this is its different.

That looks absolutely amazing.

Yup. I’m all in.

One of a kind stadium design, and from the concept images/video it all seems top shelf.

Fitting of the club’s stature and I like the “trident” towers. United should stand out.

Big dog, big nuts

I'm all for progress and development, and the idea of a new stadium is cool. But it is very fecking weird looking. Dunno how I feel about it from a design standpoint.

This is just Conceptual Design, I'd imagine the end product to be wildly different.
They would not dare release that if they didn't get assurance from some their builders and regulators that it can be done. That's what they expect it to look like at the end.

Anything on whether the old statues around Old Trafford will be kept? Will there be space for the Munich clock/memorials, and will the stands keep their names?

Anyone got a map view of where exactly it’ll be in the area? Guessing within the same pocket by the canal?

Also, agree on the red brick aspect. A stadium that clashes modern and traditional Manchester design would be great. The current pictures just reflect the ambitions of everyone else building in the city, ie glass and metal. It’d be a shame to see a Manchester with major landmarks having zero influence from traditional style - the whole place will be grey like the sky soon
