Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Changing formation will make Garnacho score his multiple chances rather than miss them?
The way I look at the missed chances is that it'll turn and he'll start scoring more of them. He's young, and we shouldn't be relying on him to be our sole attacking threat. And at least he does get chances. Without him we just create nothing, apart from hoping for a set piece goal or a shot from range from Bruno.

Agree but it's not the fault of the formation. If he'd scored more of them there would be far less talk of the formation being the issue.

An irrelevant sample size. And how would Amorim have affected his finishing exactly?

I'm just wondering. 7 goals and 4 assists last season, just checked. You'd think he'd be building on that this season and that comes down to coaching. Nobody has improved not just Garnacho, Hojilund gone backwards.

Did Ten Hag change his coaching when Rashford's purple patch came to a stop?

It doesn't really work like that. Like the nonsense that Hojlund was going to be loads better just because Ruud was going to coach him.

You can say what you want about the system, the injuries, or whatever... But that's 4 CBs at home against Fulham. Utterly depressing.

It’s probably been addressed elsewhere but why 2 keepers and an incomplete bench? Does he not really rate our youngsters? I would excuse him for the Youth Cup match but this isn’t the first time he’s done this.

The direction we are building as a club with him.... I don't think I'm a fan and it's not the direction I want this club to go. Nothing against him personally and I'm sure he can be a very good manager. But yeah after half a season, even ignoring results and performances and purely looking at what sort of football he'll ideally want us playing and what players he'll go for, just not a fan of that.

I somewhat agree it's the attacking intent that I dislike personally. Everything down the wide areas then the wingers need to be 10's comfortably playing further inside. It creates an exodus of building the attack through the midfield and controlling the game through the middle. Alonso's iteration of the system is very good given Leverkusen are compressed in possession but this isn't Amorim's philosophy.

I don't think this approach is something that a United team intending to win the league will be sustainable with. I think it's top six / four at best. But happy to be proven wrong, if an influx of newer players suddenly transforms the performances beyond the contemplation of what we are currently seeing then fair enough. But this is wishful thinking at this point.

The 3rd CB offers nothing in this system, defensively or in attack.

Never realized players like Bernado Silva and Saka were six foot body builders. Complete nonsense from Amorim. If your technical enough your good enough. I wouldn't be surprised if Anthony went to a team like Newcastle and did well just like Rashford is at Villa. Stop playing 3-4-3 and play to our strengths you pleb. Amorim is doing more damage than good

This is my biggest gripe. 9 times out of 10 the third defender is standing there doing nothing. We could use an extra attacker on the field. It’s so obvious and so frustrating.

He’s head to head with LVG for the most negative Manchester United manager in my life time.

Honestly, he can feck off if we're out of both cups in a week's time and finish 15th in the league. We owe him absolutely nothing.

This thread should be locked like the player ones. It’s ridiculous that it’s kept open

What the feck is wrong with this guy. Trust me fella, no one cares about your philosophy, just be a normal manager and try to win a fecking game of football!

Another poor performance and complete lack of confidence in the side. No one is buying this formation he’s insisting on and we just look garbage. Every fecking week. Useless going forward and zero threat. We could play until midnight and not score today.
The players aren’t this shite. Amorim needs to go - totally the wrong manager for us right now.

Bingo. Even when we had Martinez it was the same. I’ve never seen a 3 at the back system create no advantage for a team until us.

Agree. Why the 2 goaliees on bench? What's the point? Where are the youths?

If he gets knocked out of both cups then he’s on the chopping block regardless of the noises from management. There is no way we should be this bad with the players we have, there is something wrong with the system and training, no one seems to know what they’re supposed to be doing.

'I will not change'. Why hire a manager who plays 3421? I just don't get it.

Refreshing to see others having the same opinion

Was never convinced on his appointment, we’ve regressed since he came which I feared

The attackers are shite but we're restricting an already shite attack even more so with this system.

I don’t disagree but Dalot is genuinely one of the worst players I’ve ever seen at United. He’s absolutely useless as a defender and is somehow even worse going forward.

Such dreadful forwards. Maybe the worst in the league bar Southampton.

As I said at the time, the season was over with the Amad injury.

I'm not an absolve the manager of all responsibility type like some on here but realistically outside of starting Garnacho what is he suppose to do? This team is awful and that was before injuries to Amad and loans if Rashford and Antony.
