Romano is not a native speaker and I feel like a lot of what he means isn’t translated properly to what he writes. I think he just means is the expectation from most was that Yoro would end up joining Real before United came knocking
It's done yet, but I am shocked it's actually playing out like this. I felt the most likely outcome was we'd end up walking away because he only wanted Madrid. My hope was that would come sooner than later, the old football structure definitely would hwve hung up on him all summer. But this turn of events... This I like.

That would be a brilliant transfer and I’m genuinely impressed if we can pull it off.
I not saying the Everton 'suprised' thing is real, but, if they are annoyed we have bought Yoro as they were hoping to rinse us for Branthwaite, then I hope they have just learned a valuable lesson about how the new regime will be doing business. I completely respect Everton's right to name a high price for one of their players under contract, but they can't bleat if we then walk away and buy another option. I suspect they genuinely thought we'd eventually cave in and fund their entire summer transfer budget for them, like we have in the past.

Looking for the same , I don't care about the cost just want to know how good he is. Seems a lot of hype(Hopefully justified) for a player so young who has done so little in his career so far.
Some people speculating he has to be special just because R Madrid were after him , they have not always hit the bullseye either when it comes to young talent.
