This Euro is good for people with sleeping disorders.
All of football is like this now. Modern footballers are just expected to be pressing machines, that's it. All the flair and unpredictable play has been coached out of the modern footballer. Most goals are the result of cutbacks or high turnovers.

There is such a big difference in performance between the best teams in this competition and everyone else.
I don't know about that. England and France were considered the two best before the tournament and they've both been brutal. Austria wouldn't have been anyones favourites but they've put in some of the best performances.

The problem is the absolute cowards that football associations seem to be drawn to when selecting national team managers.

Dom Tesco giving Southgate a proper run for the title of shittest, least inspiring manager at the tournament here.

As it stands Ukraine with 4 points will go out but some teams with 3 points in third place will go through?

Yup. The legacy of Pep Guardiola. It’s awful.

I have no idea either, yet.
This is rivaling the first World Cup I watched with interest, 1990. That was absolutely appalling.

Thankfully there are more goals now than in 1990.
It was poor, with Brazil being flat and Germany and Argentina being very defensive. The Italians had a super team and would have been deserved winners.

As a Paddy, it was amazing for us as a nation as it was our first World Cup and amazingly we only got narrowly beaten by the hosts in the quarters at the Stadio d'Olympico.

There were only a handful of great games. England Germany was a cracking 1-1 draw and England Cameroon was amazing. The Germans also beat a cracking Dutch team in a really good game.

I slept off at halftime yesterday during the England game. Woke up about 75 minutes in to see in was still 0-0 and promptly returned to sleep.

I used to love international tournaments as a kid but there's just no point now. Games are boring, managers are much more clueless, social media and the overanalysis, teams passing it around content with doing nothing with it, etc.

I feel the same about the champions league too since that covid season, but that might just be because we haven't played in that often enough recently.

First round of fixtures was good. Stupid format ensured the 2nd and third has got progressively worse to the almost unwatchable state now. Ready for the knockouts…

Imagine we have to play them next round. Just put Brobbey on Vertonghen and the poor guy falls to the ground after one half.

Having 3rd place teams go through was a massive mistake. It rewards overly cautious play

But dramatic. Tournaments in general are way better than they were when I was a kid. Imagine this format but with 2 points for a win.

A tournament full of spineless shits who will only open up a bit in the final 5 minutes.
It’s not really been like that at all until some of the games in game week 3

there was quite a lot of early goals previously

Lukaku shooting those hands up in the air must be one of the most infuriating things in football for the guys playing with him

Thanks for the rundown. It's a bit fuzzy these days.

We had a friend of the family play on the USMNT that tourney. He won the national championship in a squad that included my cousin. His play in the NCAA tourney got him called up. He didn't play unfortunately.

Belgium just had a throw-in next to Ukraine's box, then a corner a couple of minutes later. Both ended up in backpasses to the keeper.

Emblematic of the game. Complete dross.
