Day 12 | England v Slovenia + Denmark v Serbia | France v Poland + Netherlands v Austria

A fit Shaw and a natural left sided forward would improve this team an insane amount

Like to see…

Take off Gallagher
Move Bellingham to Gallagher spot
Foden to play No10
Gordon to left wing
Take off Saka for Palmer
Think that's much of what most people would like to see.

Not very difficult, is it. Our manager is the only genius that can't see obvious changes against weaker nations.

England look like a United reincarnate. No one can keep the ball and no one knows what to do with it to build attacks.

I can see scenarios where Gallagher would be useful, but I don't see why you would choose him in a game where you want to control possession. He's just not that type of player. If you need energy, pressing and a threat on the counter he's definitely a viable option. That's why you'd play him against a France or Spain. Against any team in this group though, I really can't wrap my head around playing anyone other than Mainoo. He's much better suited to possession and progressing the ball from deep.

When the opposition can cut off supply to Bellingham and Foden without breaking their shape, why are they the ones being criticized? They’re not all of a sudden bad players because they can’t turn limited touches in the final third into a goal or an assist every single time.

I never want to see a right footer at left-back again. The last 12 months have traumatised me.
It is not a big issue if he plays as an inverted left - back stay in the middle during attack, and the left winger, well, stay on the left.

Genuine question, isn't Kalvin Philips a defensive minded player? Why does Southgate say he's missing a player like that?
Phillips trusts himself to make the kind of line breaking passes Rice doesn't. Gallagher is a poor passer in general and of the defenders the best is Trippier but he has poor angles(and they don't go to him much anyways)

Someone to control the midfield and let others play.

It's nonsense because Phillips is crap but a fantastic DM would be a massive boon to this team.
Isn't 100m Declan Rice supposed to be that fantastic DM?

I don't think they need Kobbie. They need a new shape. Foden and Bellingham in front of Rice with two wide players would work much better.
I’d accept Bellingham deeper with Gordon or Eze on the left but I still think Mainoo is a more natural deep midfielder and can help to beat the press at times and drive through midfield. Every single time Gallagher has tried to look forward he’s lost the bloody ball. It’s horrific. Mainoo is getting underrated the more this tournament goes on for some reason, despite Utd fans watching him play in the same disjointed football all season and doing well.

I just want to see Gordon on the left. Drop one of Foden or Bellingham. Bellingham hasn’t had a good game so far so stick Foden behind Kane. Tell Kane to stay up top and if he doesn’t take him off at 60 minutes. I also hate Gallacher, such a nothing player. Southgate has taken a 19 year old and 20 year old CM with far more ability and now doesn’t have the balls to play them.

What this pathetic display shows is what some of us have been saying. Overrated players from fans and media. Thats it. A lot of these players wouldn't be anywhere near other national teams. Some of those so called star player have been riding along other players in their clubs. Getting credit they didn't actually deserve.

Leaving him and Rashford at home, not taking either, no matter how they played this season, was mental.
Grealish especially didn't play much during the season he would have been fresh and with a point to prove. Instead he went to Ibiza to get hammered (or wherever)

Jude's in dire form. Sub him for Palmer. Maybe Foden for Gordon or Watkins as well, though Foden's been decent in the first half

I'd keep Phil based on first half, think Palmer for Saka (he's quite good off the right and Saka just hasn't been in the game) and for me Watkins for Jude with Watkins playing LW.. I wouldn't be against Watkins for Kane but thats never happening. I think Watkins running off the shoulder would suit Foden, Bellingham more.

He's not underrated. He's young. Unfair to expect him to carry a national side, especially a struggling one with a rabid press corps.

Not convinced, he's got Anthony Gordon and Palmer sat on their arses and they were making goal contributions for fun all season.

At this point it doesn't matter about attacking talent if the manager refuses to use them and can't create any sort of cohesive play to make attackers look good.

Bellingham doesn't do the little pass and move to advance does he . I don't think we are getting the best out of him

It is and it's crippling. Ruins so many good England teams. It's mad.
I think the press (and now social media) slaughter post-tournament is etched into the psyches of the players. None want to be the one hung, drawn and quartered.

Even last tournament, some players were left devastated by the fallout

Gallagher and Bellingham off, Mainoo and Gordon on please.
