Generally believe our fans turning him to a meme halved his worth.

Thankfully, it's been turned down.

Let's hope we aren't stupid enough to come back in for him again.

He'd probably suit West Ham

Doesn't help Southgate is so far up his arse he's basically first name on his team sheet, if he said to him if you don't play regularly I can't pick you I think it would help force his hand and make him move

Really want him gone. Another Ole mistake...

He can stay. With Onana behind , he would be much better this year.

He isn't a bad choice as a 4th option.

They were always gonna lowball us initially. We’ve made it clear as water that we don’t want him. We won’t get the 40m we want but we’ll get 30+. My guess is 32.5m

Said it weeks ago & think it’ll be the case still, Maguire will leave in the last minutes of the window. Some club will start badly & pony up for him.

If he were at West ham and we bid £20m they'd be offended. Like that time we bid £30m for Fellaini and Baines

Seems offering peanuts for United players is fair game, but when we want to do the buying, other clubs think it's reasonable to demand ridiculously inflated fees. Years of piss poor management by Woodward has given us a poor reputation. Hopefully we can turn it around and clubs will soon stop this piss taking

Why would a West Ham fan sign up to a Man Utd forum? Genuinely curious.
Because I find it interesting to read the views of other club's supporters. I've been here for over 18 months.

For some balance, I (and quite a few like me) think McTominay is a better player than most on here seem to give him credit for. I'd quite happily see West Ham part with good money for him.

I'm not criticising, I'm just interested. I understand fans of rival clubs joining I suppose, but just wouldn't get the appeal if I was in your shoes.

No arguments from me, Cashapp or Venmo?

Use this logic, why shouldn't West ham just go for this "someone" who is at least at his level, and probably younger with lower salary?
I think you’ve completely misunderstood my post. Atleast 30m not atleast at his level. Im essentially saying we’d struggle to find someone as good as him for 30m.

He’s a good player who’d be very good for West Ham and pretty much a sure thing, he’s definitely worth 30m to them.

It's been interesting to read views on Rice, and see the feeling towards Moyes.

Maguire, in my opinion, was always grossly overpriced at £80m, and he's now 30, probably super-rich from being on £10m a year - he's at the wrong end of every spectrum for West Ham. Age, wage, motivation - the lot.

He didn't get a payrise, he got paid his contracted amount but so has everyone else. He also won't be on in excess of £200k either.
Correct, he isn't. But not far off.

Nah I'm not sure you could question his motivation. He'll wanna prove everyone United were wrong to get rid, and he will want to continue to feature for England. Honestly think he'd be a good signing for most sides across World football. If you can get him for 30mil or under I actually think that would be a great deal.

I'd gladly get rid of him for a bag of Skips and a mint humbug but..
  1. He's objectively worth more than 20 mill
  2. The way contracts work is that if we sold for 20 it would count negatively against us because of what we've spent on him
  3. It would cost us at least 30-40 to get an adequate replacement in, and considering our money is low and ffp it's not likely to happen unless we make multiple sales
His book value is somewhere between £25 and £30 mill. Keeping him will cost the club approx £25 mill a year (deprecation + wages). If a club came close to his book value and covered his wages, we should be willing to take a small hit.

If we sign a replacement for £30-40 mill his yearly cost is likely half that. If we were able to sell Sancho too we would be able to bring in Kane for the saved cost.

West Ham will be back once they realise every other CB they're interested in will be valued over £30m because everyone knows they've got the money from selling Rice.

Tbh he’s 30, 4th choice and on mega high wages so I think £20m is pretty fair. McT I think is worth £35-40m and we are right to hold out for a good fee but Maguire is literally a peripheral figure now who’s just been ousted as Captain. I’d take what we can get

i think he'd be a very good signing for West Ham. But i'm hoping we keep him as back up because the CB market could look very interesting next summer with the likes of Ousmane Diomande and Antonio Silva potentially being on the market for the RCB slot.

Have we really turned down £20m for him. I'd almost given them that to take him away

If they raised their bid to 30M, United should take it and move on.

Problem with the bolded is

1. Anything under 27M actually negatively impacts FFP which will make it harder to close other deals
2. We will still need a 4th CB and if we sell Maguire low we won't have any budget to do that
3. We will perpetuate the image of United as a club that buys high and sells low and can be mugged off in transfers

anything between £25m and £30m with reachable addons we should accept the bid and move on

Caught between a "take what you can get" and a "Utd suck at selling" place.
