Really? He would need to give up on winning serious trophies for the foreseeable future and knowing our track record of the past decade, it would much more likely end up in a career suicide than anything else.
I mean, Barcelona isn't exactly the safest and most stable home, either. For all we know, they could be facing bankruptcy in the next few years. There's also the fact that they don't want to pay him what he's due and have treated him like dirt this summer, so while he might not choose to go to United, there are plenty of very good reasons to leave Barca.

But seriously, neither of you two (and loads of others on here) can make those kind of aspersions without knowing ANYTHING. Literally no grounds for that bollocks other than your own imaginations filling in some blanks created by endless media jizz. I see it very differently. Frenkie has just kept his mouth shut and acted professionally. He's acted as I would have acted to be fair. Any movement / statement from him weakens his hand.
Weakens his hand for what exactly? He's moving nowhere.

If our views are baseless then the opposite views are baseless too as they're based on no real statements from the player, agent or clubs.

All I know is that like many other players before that may have been through stand offs with their clubs they usually move to a club that actually wants them. I would do the same too, over wanting to spend any more time at a club or workplace which has taken liberties all summer.

Seen that mentioned a few times, numpties acting as if any of our muppet activity has the slightest bearing on the club ownership and/or management. Complete lunacy
I really wanted the Glazers out but you guys got us to 1783 pages I’ve changed my mind

We aren’t getting Frenkie and Casemiro in one window, that will make too much sense. I’ll have to see it to believe it

I didn't say that. Just that the way this transfer gained interest and distraction, bought the Glazers a lot of time and grace this window.
I lay that blame at Jim's doorstep. Stop derailing the thread of the century! :)

It has been reported by several journalists that he and his missus love the Barca lifestyle and that he is "in the comfort zone" there.

If Frenkie had actually stated a desire to move, he could have been in breach of contract and his deferred wages could easily have been 'disappeared'. As it stands he is still in control of that money. And some on here think he should just default on that £17m but really? Would you? I wouldn't for sure.

On this, I can agree with you my friend!

He told every blub that he wasn't interested - he only wanted Barcelona.

I don't rate any city. His girlfriend who is in to fashion does, the media reported that she was a admire of London because it would be a good city for her and her carrier. When it comes to Liverpool, fashion there and fashion in Manchester is the same, but right now Liverpool as a football club is more attractive for every player in the way that they are fighting in all cups and the league while we have not even been close (expect the Europe League final we lost against Villareal) and for a player that is 26 years old next summer, he will probably choose a club were he finds it most realistic to win titles - not saying things can't change in 1 year. We might improve a lot this year, maybe sign 1 more big player this summer and keep adding world class players next while Liverpool might struggle to replace some of their guys and players like Virgil, Salah, Henderson, Firmino gets older and wont be easy to replace. But as of right now, they are more likely to win the PL/CL then us. Next move (either if he signs a new contract with Barcelona or decides to move) will be his last big move since he will be 26 and probably sign a 5-6 year contract.

So, to clarify my point. Its not about the cities, its about the whole picture. In media they reported that De Jong wants a project that suits both him as a footballer and his girlfriend for her carrier in fashions. So its not hard to make the assumption that he would like to live in a city where he can play for a club that can pay him good money and be able to win title and at the same time satisfy his family. In that case, right now, clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, Liverpool, City can offer either one or both things while we cant promise either of it. If he was sure we could, he would have signed already. I just cant see a reason why he would all suddenly find us as his next club if don't improve drastically. Which I hope we do.

Signing players like Casemiro, Antony - even Martinez and Malacia - will improve our chances, but we need also to make players like Sancho, Rashford, Varane, Martial to step up and maybe add 2-3 more players of the highest level to be able to fight City and Liverpool for the PL title and be in the CL every year. That will help us get the players we want, not only De Jong.
I guess we can finally put to bed which Caf account is Goldbridges.

Not happening.

Frenkie striking if he had the balls, over his deferred wages. Or whatever the feck is going on. His 600k per week salary next year. Who cares anymore.

The cess pit of shit that is Barca will be done in 2 years at this rate anyway.

We don't need that kind of bullshit. We've had enough stupidity to last us a lifetime. I still can't get over the fact this club let Pogba go, then signed that cnut back for 90m then let him go for free, again!. I don't care about the argument about his wages. Who was stupid enough to put that whopper on those in the first place?.

Anyway.. As much as he is press resistant. And as much as people want him here. I don't see the kind of fight Anthony has put up in the last couple of weeks, from Frenkie. Therefore he might as well rot with his missus in the streets of Spain. He's not playing first team football any time soon. Wasted talent. Wasting away.

Didn't even have the balls to stand up for his missus when she wanted to sit next to him...

Do not want.

Paraphrasing Glaston...

Daddy Daddy, do not want.

It seems the barca side genuinely thinks a deal for silva could be reached, pep hasn't outright denied it either.

Let's hope it goes because it makes Frankie's situation untenable.

How will you experience twists and turns if you don't ride along!
Yeah I agree. Just curious as to what these twists and turns were, s'all. Seeing as literally nothing happened for 5 months.

I think La Liga has stopped putting obstacles in Barsa's way since Roures got involved. Tebas used to work with him. So I don't think them signing Silva would necessarily mean a de Jong sale. In any case, Barsa's mouthpiece papers have stopped talking about de Jong leaving and its focused on Aubameyang and Braithwaithe now

Pep denies things very rarely. Especially if it comes to transfers. He always says a player can leave, if he doesn't want to play for his current team. Followed by "the clubs must reach an agreement".
City's board on the other hand was very clear on that topic the last days. And since they are Laporta's pals from their barca time some 15 years ago, Laporta knows exactly what is possible and what not with Silva.

I wouldn't defer and I wouldn't have deferred them in the first place. That was his first mistake. There's no way Barca truly needed players to take wage cuts to continue operating.

They wanted players to take wage cuts so they could continue their irresponsible spending. Anyone that ends up with less in wages is a mug after seeing what's happened this Summer.

I feel if he was contractually owed the wages then he would be able move clubs and still claim what he was owed in court.

I reckon the De Jong deal has been agreed in secret in the past 48 hours. We’re getting Depay, De Jong and they’re in England to complete the move. As soon as that was sewn up Barca ran over to Pep waving the money for Bernardo.

How do you rate your chances of getting silva?

This is the kind of muppetry I crave when visiting transfer threads. Inject straight into my vein, por favor.

Depends on who you believe. I personally believe the statements made by Soriano and Txiki, that it's way too late in the window to sell Silva, so I don't see any chance. Romero reports otherwise, but he needs to hold his twitch viewers and subs as long as he can. So for me he is not a reliable source in that case, because the name Silva brings him thousands of viewers.

Such a shame that this thread literally stalled after hitting 1700 pages. Could have easily crossed 2000 if Casemiro hadn't happened for 2 more days.

If Bernardo DID join, surely the end of De Jong at the club?

There’s no way B.Silva joins unless Frenkie is gone if it’s true laporta had to use his own cash to finish registering their own players.

yes, 100%. Xavi loves Bernardo and he would be a starter alongside Pedri. Gavi would be the first interior sub.
How good do you believe Gavi will be?

Pedri will go right to the very top. But Gavi?

And would it be worth De Jong waiting a season to see if Busquets retires?
