This would be sensible. Poch right now is a bad move, and I am Ole Out if anything. He's going to be raw from his sacking, he needs a few months recharging away from the game - chucking him into an under-performing United setup right now would not be a wise move.

It could go tits up very quickly.

Personally, I would allow Ole a few months more and if we're still hanging around 10th in the table with no consistent uplift in what we're seeing, I would offer the job to Pochettino if he's still available.

But he's not the only option out there and shouldn't be treated as such.

Good to see someone in the Ole out camp with some sense. Swapping managers now, especially to one who just got sacked could be a disaster.

If we continues the season as poorly and Poch is available and willing to take us over, by all means give him a chance, but now is not the time

We should definitely stick with Ole for another season, make the right moves in the transfer windows, clear the deadwood and continue with this emphasis on blooding our youngsters. Another season outside Champions League won't make or break our club, however it's all about long term vision and staying true to that goal especially when we are trying to play attacking football with quick transitions.

Ole understands the culture and DNA of our club and is the right choice to continue this rebuild for some more time. Let the things stabilise a bit before the next appointment. No dearth of jobless managers in the footballing world. Even if Poch decides to join Real, he will be back in the market by 2021 summer.

On the same note, I think Tottenham's fortunes will be turned around now. They are 2 years ahead of us in the rebuild, have a well-defined core and are ready for the next leap.

I said a few months ago, either in this thread or another, that i could easily see Poch leaving Spurs and being at United by the end of the season. Don't know if he would come in the middle of a season, but i can see him here in the summer.

I would sack him and sign Pochettino. We simply cannot afford to let go of an opportunity to sign a manager like Pochettino...

The only problem with waiting for him until the summer is Real Madrid. If we wait until the summer than we bring Madrid into the game, and I don’t think he will chose us over Real.I would try to sign him up as soon as possible...

Ultimately, that's where i think he will go. Don't think United are going to sack Ole.

Imagine Poch going to Madrid and Allegri going to Arsenal after they inevitably sack Emeri. That will end in tears I'm sure about it.

Really don’t think so mate.Ole is a few Premierleague defeats away from getting the sack...Lose at Sheffield United and the pressure will be cranked up....Don’t buy into the public proclamations of support being made by “sources” at the club...Similar support was expressed for Moyes,LVG and Jose...

I'm not. I'm not basing it on anything really other than an opinion. Just think they will stick with him until the end of the season, at least. Unless things get catastrophically bad, of course.

There is added pressure on OGS to get results of the back of Pochettino leaving. Simply has to get results after all the points we’ve dropped the past few months. He can’t afford any more draws or losses to teams who’ll finish in the bottom half come the end of the season.

Even if OGS sees out the rest of the season with results, it would be sensible and reasonable to look for alternatives in the summer like Pochettino. He needs to develop a good play style going to beat most teams. He can’t just have gameraising and getting decent results playing the big boys then feck up against the rest. He needs to get Champions League. If he can’t get either of these then he goes for me. It’s more weighted towards Europe than play style.

If he wants to survive a league finish resulting in Europa League or no Europe at all, then he has to be playing some pretty incredible football that would make Klopp and Guardiola look boring.

I hope Ole comes good, but it just feels inevitable that he won't. I feel like we've been on this merry-go-round for 6 seasons now, always seeing a tiny glimpse of what this team can be. Unfortunately it never comes to fruition and we fall back below the standards, I at least have, for Manchester United. I think it would be a shame to miss out on Poch like we missed out on Klopp, but I also understand others who don't feel that way. Right now both choices just feel like a roll of the dice.

I've voted Ole out, I love him but don't think he's the right man for the job.

However, I don't think bringing potch in will be the saviour of our club. Yes he may solidify us like he did with Spurs, but surely we need a manager that will not only solidify us, but also win trophies and get us challenging City and Liverpool.

Personally I would prefer Ancellote(sp?).

Hopefully we've been sounding out Poch for a long time behind the scenes, with him now taking a deserved break and Ole keeping the seat warm until the summer. I can dream.

He did well in all previous seasons except one. You are holding flag for a manager who has done nothing.
If you want a manager who has not had a bad season, you should look at different sports, not football.
No. I am suggesting not to employ a manager for the second time sacked due to poor performance.

Ole will be here for this season at least and rightly so . As much as people want Poch it just isn't the right time for him at United . We need to be patient and see if Ole and the club do have a plan for the 1st time in 10 years

Time for the cub to show some class, back Ole 100%, and give him an improved/extended contract.

He's a big boy now, so I'm sure he doesn't need that to reassure him that we aren't about to go out and get Poch, and it's pointless anyway, just ask Poch and Jose.

Poch is obviously a better manager than Ole but I fundamentally don't see us having the appetite to sack Solskjaer, so I don't see change happening any time soon.
Woodward wanted Pochettino and so did Sir Alex whilst the Glazers would love him because of what he can do for a team on the cheap. He has had a net spend of £29m at Spurs over five years whilst consistently making the CL. During our previous poor run the lack of a suitable replacement might have been one of the factors that influenced the decision to keep him.

Now the guy long admired by the powerbrokers at OT is available the management might not be as tolerant as they were a few weeks back. The next round of fixtures are tricky and we are going into them without our first choice midfield so if lose to Sheffield and draw at Villa then Jose's homecoming will be a high stakes game and City will be waiting in the wings. The mood around the club could shift and remember the guy they have always wanted is available.

Funny how over in the multiple Jose front page threads, people are saying that he's (Jose) is one of those bad, driven managers who will fail badly but get Spurs trophies....and over here, 1/2 the forum is happy to have dodged that driven, winning mentality.

Also, am I the only one who remembers when the Cafe front page used to be about Utd's players and manager -- and not other team's players and managers? Ahhh, those were the days.

Sack him now send him back to Molde and get Poch in here. Give him time give him money and see what happens. No one else is better that is available and Poch knows the English game and he over did his stay at Spurs. I think he wanted to leave I the summer and should have. Go all in.

I think the situation is trickier than that. Ed has defended Ole more than any of his previous appointments. I don't remember him coming on to defend LvG or Mourinho like he he did with Ole. I feel he's so stubborn in proving he has discovered a hidden gem in Ole when he appointed and that the club problems were entirely on Mourinho while the team is good enough and will be proven under Ole etc. I don't think he will give up that easily. He will look like an absolute fool, that took a terrible gamble on an unproven manager and failed again, with his 2 previous appointments being sacked by him. His situation will be trickier.

So for now I think we will keep Ole. We will keep losing and drawing games while getting few wins against crap teams here and there, while raising our games against big teams and grinding results against them by our over defensive tactics. These will keep Ole in position till the end of the season. By that time when we will finally decide to get rid of him Poch would have a job secured and probably Allegri too, and we will be fecked.

Kane was starting games and scoring goals under Sherwood at the end of 13/14. It wasn't until he started playing Kane again 9 games into the 14/15 season that his fortunes changed.

He got ‘some’ games and had a terrible record under Sherwood. Check his stats. It’s simply a lie that Poch didn’t make Kane the player he is today.

You are joking right ?

Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers Went from title candidates in 2014 to 12 defeats in 14/15 - including 0-3 against United, 1-4 against Liverpool and the icing on the cake - 1-6 against Stoke.
They ended 6th with 62 Points after

And when they started the next season with 1-3 againts United, and 0-3 at home against West Ham

They weren't doing that badly at the time ???

You have picked selective games from the last season. Rodgers had them almost win a title which hadn’t been for a good 20 years. They finished second but were no where near under Rafa or Houdlier. The season after the Suarez season they were something like 8th in the league when Rodgers got sacked. Exactly the same situation Spurs have put themselves in. Check some facts before trying to look at a few results.

He started the last 6 games under Sherwood 13/14 scoring 3 goals. He didn't start any of Poch's first 10. Poch got 11 points from his first 9 games before Kane came on and scored in the 10th.

What are people's opinions on Ole moving to a DOF role and bringing Pochettino in at end of the season.

My first thought was no chance would this ever happen but then I remembered some of the ex Utd players already linked to the role like Rio & Fletcher.

If its between Ole, Rio and Fletcher then yeah I would like Ole to be our DOF. But if we are serious about that role then no, I would like someone else to be our DOF.

Yeah I would prefer someone else too like Mitchell, looking like this Campos guy could well follow Jose to Spurs. Not surprised because their board is much more open to the idea of this than Woody and the rest of the clowns on our board ever were.
