I admit that this is an unpopular view but I would rather sign Koulibaly from Napoli than De Ligt. And this is coming from someone who rates the latter very highly and see him as a genuine contender for best defender in Europe in a few seasons.

I feel that we need to have a balanced team before we go for players of his ilk. Koulibaly would be perfect for us.
The problem is that Koulibaly is not worth anywhere near what’s being quoted

I don’t really get your logic. I think DeLigt would be a much better fit for united and he’d have a better resale value if it doesn’t work out.

For me he is a player in the Rio, Rooney, Keane category. A young player that is already very, very good, that we truly need and, that can grow to be one of the best in the world. If SAF was willing to break the back for such players so should Ole. When players like this are on the market you go all in.

From what i've read i think he's coming to United; otherwise barca wouldn't have made such a fuss through the media with bs like "barca or money/ he trully want's barca but the agent..."

Don't really understand people who are against to signing De Ligt but I bet there were people also complaining about signing Rooney or Rio when they happened also. Personally I think he's the only sure thing of value in the current market.

Agree with that. He’s a “generational” defender, and will get better and better.
Koubilay you’d probably get 2-3 years out of him before he starts declining. He’s simply not worth the money

I guess people prefer Koulibaly balance wise because he's an experienced LCB. But De Ligt is too good to miss out on. Have him become an LCB or get one next window if none of Lindelöf, De Ligt, Tuanzebe or Bailly can do the job there.

If he goes to Barcelona we'll not get another chance to sign him so it is what it is. You could make the same arguments for neymar when he was playing in the Brazilian league.
Yeah, maybe that's what happens. I understand the desperation to get someone so talented. I would badly want us to sign him too. But I also worry about our overall approach and how that will continue to undermine a healthy dressing room and logical wage structure.

If we don't get De Ligt can we play him anyway? Might be better than Jones.

Rooney's very handsome but yes, the nose and mouth area very much so.
You think Rooney has a

If we have the same conversation about João Felix I'd be tempted to agree with you. I think this one is proven enough though. There's always a risk with any transfer, irrespective of age or experience. On paper Sanchez and Di Maria should have been successful.

Our best CB buys have been world records, Stam followed by Rio. Buying generational players are well worth it, Madrid did it during the galactico years.
