Hopefully this happens soon. I think we are just waiting for arsenal to finalize their replacements.
If we can think this is Perisic money then we will have atleast 150 million in the summer (Rumoured budget). 1 fullback, 1 central midfielder and maybe one winger. With ibra leaving, we should get Ozil too on a free and then invest in some youngsters too. This transfer makes alot of sense, alot of it. Now i am worried city will make an 11th hour bid :(.
Don’t stress. This just feels absolutely nailed on now.

I'm not liking this narrative that the media are spinning out, that Sanchez would only join Utd for the money, and that he really should go to city for footballing reasons and medals. Since when were United the mercanary option?

Correct me if i'm wrong because i'm not sure but have we not won the same amount, or more trophies since fergie retired than city have in the same time period?

We are most likely going to go and get Ozil on a free. Sanchez and Ozil will be our marquee signings but we will invest heavily in a CM and defense.
I hope we get Özil for free. It would be disappointing to lose him out just like City with Alexis. But, according to what happens with Mikhitaryan until the end of the season, we may have to go after a right winger. Other than that, I agree. We need to invest in full backs and especially a third midfielder that can complete Pogba and Matic.

It's a salty bullshit narrative spun by people in the media who just don't like united plain and simple. Honestly if someone told me city was the romantic option over United, who could only offer money, I'd tell them they shouldn't be paid to work in football.

It's just bitterness

Surprised Liverpool didn't bid for him as there were interested a while back ?
We can't offer the same wages as you and City. He would be absolutely phenomenal for Klopp though:drool:

I fecking hate the thought of you getting him, btw. He's easily among the best players in the league and would give your attack a much needed boost.

Yeah. Few moments ago i read a tweet from i don't know who; " city or united: glory and fame or money.". Disgraceful. In few months city became synonym from glory and fame. City! That spent 500 mil only in last 2 years.

Gary is really ripping into ballbag. Great to see. I agree with his reasoning as well. But City don't really need to stack up in that position unless they are going to sell Aguero.

Can't see it being announced the same day we play.

All we'll get today is a few more articles saying we're close but no actual confirmation.

It'll no doubt be after the match, be it later on tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Doesn't have to be the case. Wasn't Di Maria unofficially confirmed just before we played. Woodward will focus on his job and Jose on his.

Not saying it's impossible. Just that with it being Arsenal and us wanting to get the most hype out of it as possible - I imagine we'll want to make a day of it tomorrow.

Maybe, but considering the whole footballing world is already talking about it, there's no real need for even more hype. I think it'll be confirmed by today by semi reliable sources, and we'll make it official by tomorrow or the day after.

The obvious deterrent is City poking their nose in and making it complicated.

MK Dons I think..
Yes, I think you are right.

It's maddening. I know this place is a black hole of negativity at the best of times, but seeing the narrative picked up by so many high profile commentators is infuriating. If they'd actually won a treble, or 3 back to back titles, or had any such genuine tangible success, then fair cop, but having to endure this incessant hagiography over half a seasons worth of good football is tiresome as feck.

This is a baffling statement. Even since their takeover (which is all of 9 years ago) we've beaten them in virtually every big transfer battle, from Berba to RVP. We're Man Utd. One of the biggest and most fashionable names in the biggest and most fashionable sport. We've been mentioned in The Simpsons FFS...and even Buffy The fecking Vampire Slayer! The majority of the footballing world didn't even know there was another team in Manchester 10 years ago. And even since City's emergence, in our apparently disastrous post-Fergie crisis period, we've still technically won more trophies than them. So in what bonkers Bizarro universe should beating them to a transfer be considered an achievement? I get why City are a much more attractive proposition than they used to be, but I must have missed the part where we went from an elite global powerhouse to an Aston Villa/Notts Forrest-esque has been. When did that happen? Because judging by a lot of fan attitudes it must have done.
I think you ignore the impact of momentum. Since Pep City have outspent us and ensured there is no weak positions in their team. Forget the performances that injection of cash alone is a threat. It shows a team with serious intent and that excites potential player acquisitions. Add their performances and all the momentum was with City.

If you don’t ride the momentum or set up to get ahead of it you can be left behind. Look at Liverpool and Arsenal.

Timing in football in terms of investment is vital. Barcelona are doing it at the moment. They have realised the risk of losing their top dogs status and are throwing in huge money.

Yes some of what you are saying is also true that they haven’t won yet with Peps team, but that’s a naive view and ignores that this is a City team already full of various winners, many at City. They have a great blend of youth and experience.

The Premiership looks certain to head their way this year.

So yes United getting one of he few elite game changing players and nipping in ahead of City is huge.

Add this to the fact financial fair play is looking dead and it’s a big statement. It shows that there is some control to City’s spend and they won’t provide a constant blank cheque.

And on the flip side it shows United are not happy with second best and will make sure of that, just as we did with Lukaku.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone or trapped in a genjutsu. Is Pep handing out candy to the press or something?

all of a sudden the evil red side of manchester aka money manchester has nothing to offer but more commas on a paycheck, and City are the bastion of hope and all that is right with football, and its just not one or two journalists going with that. some downright disrespectful stuff being written about one of the biggest clubs in the world
I am gonna guess the Sheikhs have a pretty mean PR machine. But we have to concede they have been playing since amazing stuff and that is contributing to negativity about United. The most important bit is still that negative stories about United sell with fans and ABUs alike.

Most people are different to what they are like in real life or on the internet.
Of course. I meant different as in on Sky, he tries so hard to present himself as completely unbiased towards United, almost leaning too far to the other side, whereas on his twitter, it's pretty easy to tell he's a United fan.

Di Maria on the same day we got battered by MK Dons was fun.

Those still thinking City are going to roar back in and take Sanchez need to read the Sam Lee article.

Sanchez's agent basically played them. He kept City interested for months and then approached city to say mufc have a better offer. Pep has taken this as a sign that Sanchez is not committed to play for him and the whole motivation for Sanchez IS LEAVIBG ARSENAL. He is desperate to leave, he doesn't care if it's city or mufc.

City could easily have him. They won't play ball, and we will.

Sanchez being desperate for city/pep is a MYTH.... ABSOLUTE MYTH.

No, not Lisbon..Lisburn!
So, speculative question if we do get him.....all this talk about Sanchez dividing the Arsenal dressing room, would getting him maybe sway Ozil to come here in the Summer too? Do they both get on well together? Sorry, that's two questions.

Plus he’d easily make his money back in shirt sales.
It is a myth mate. Through all merchandise we earn 40-50 mil per year. Long story short, shirt sale is basically payed to us through adidas sponsor deal.
From direct sale we have maybe 5 % of every shirt sold( this part i am just guessing).
