Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

His reaction for Costa's question was awesome. Confirmed Costa is past and won't play for him.

Thats as fake a laughter as I've ever seen...

Costa is fecked now. Released a statement today indicating that he is losing his patience with athletics.

I think it's the case of you wanting to see something that isn't there. Fake laughter? I saw him laugh before, there's nothing fake about it.

Think it's a pretty calculated response, probably spent all week planning it. You can tell how annoyed he is by the whole situation, it's a large part of the reason why the beginning of their season has been rocky. He's a strange bloke, comes across as somewhat unhinged to me.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I watched every press conference he's done since arriving at CFC and unless every laugh he's had was calculated and rehearsed, that's what he's really like. He does sound a bit nuts at times, but I don't think it's pretense. That's just the way he is.

So Costa doesn't want to return to Chelsea because he wants to go to a club that cannot even buy him for the next 4 months? I'm baffled.

I know a lot of players are motivated by money, but why would any player in their right mind want to join that mob of a club.

How they treat their managers, their players, the board interference, they really are poisonous from top to bottom.

Vile, vile club.

What a horrible person and a horrible manager. ( not that Costa is any kind of angel )
Hope Conte gets what he deserves this season. Tell the guy he's fired via text message and then keep him bound in his contract so he can't move on. Hopefully Costa has his lawyers look into this as a way out / release from contract.

The other part of the interview was ridiculous. Claiming Chelsea don't have a good player base like Spurs because they no longer have players like Terry, Mikel, Ivanovic or Drogba. He was personally responsible for shoving at least 2 of those 4 out the door from what I know.

Like many on here it would be great to see Chelsea fine Costa for the next two years if he doesn't come back to train & play, & couldn't happen to bigger brat, but if Costa thought it through, surely he could cause a lot of trouble to football in general. Basically this is a restraint of someone's employment, which is not only part of UK law but EU law as well. You cannot expect someone on the one hand to not being paid, then in the next refusing him to let him make a living in a trade he does. I can see another Bosman one day, when a player calls footballs bluff, going to court, & the whole footballing transfer system come crashing down.

They can buy him, right? They just can't register and play him. Costa seems happy to be paid for doing nothing for a few months while Atletico Madrid are understandably less than thrilled at shelling out big bucks for someone who will only contribute for half the season.

I think Chelsea and Conte especially have gone about this the completely wrong way. The manager telling a player firstly by text he's not going to play again, then in a press conference 'he's in the past' won't make them stand out well when battling with other teams for transfers in the future.

I'm not saying Costa is in the right here either, he's wanted a move back to Atheltico Madrid since the summer after he moved to Chelsea and angled for it since.

It's a great situation for everyone to laugh about, bad situation if you're a Chelsea fan.

Conte also applauded Pochettino in his press conference about his handling of youth and he'd like to do the same but he's just lost Solanke to Liverpool and loaned out Loftus-Cheek, Zouma and Abraham, so he's doing the complete opposite.

This is total nonsense. Mourinho was building a team around Oscar and Fabregas as the key ingredients and the first thing Conte did was cleanse the starting 11 of that ideology and those players. Mourinho could never in a million years make David Luiz play like he did last season. Then there is Moses who if put on the field under Mourinho would give him nosebleeds.

As for being arrogant, it is a good thing. In football management you are either Arrogant or unsuccessful so its not a big issue for most fans.

Well some of the players very much did throw Mourinho under the bus, so what he was building was burnt with some of those catastrophic performances that were putting chelsea in a relegation dog fight. Even by anyone's standards, the complete giving up of the season was some fall even by Mourinho's standards, don't think he expected that kind of fall. Hopefully their loss is united's gain

His eyes betray him, he's fuming with Costa. Like when your mates all get you with a quality prank but you can't bite so you force out a laugh whilst immediately plotting your revenge

What a cluster feck the Costa situation is.

The thing is though its actually not from our perspectuive.

In terms of transfers I don't think Conte really has much of a say unfortunately. He gives a list of targets but that's about it really.

Also the Costa situation has been handled fine by Conte, costa knew for 5 months straight that was his last season at Chelsea as conte has said multiple times he told him in january. Conte then confirmed (what he already knew) by text and costa made out like it was the first time he's heard of it after agitating for a move constantly?

He then proceeded to lie about being close to a contract extension when its since been confirmed he requested a move 3 times during the season including the first time he ever spoke to conte.

Costa is in the wrong here and I would rather see the club lose out financially than them cave in to his ridiculous demands.

I agree I don't think he has much say with transfers, same when Jose was there and that's what led to the poor second season as Abramovich didn't get the targets he wanted, no manager can work like that.

Like I say I don't think Costa is in the right but by text message and in a laughing about it in a press conference isn't very professional.

He's a goalscorer, in today's market you should get a very high fee for him but he's toxic at the same time. Chelsea are well known to get high figures for unwanted players but I can't see them dropping their valuation with Costa.

How is it a bad situation for Chelsea fans. The club have secured a decent replacement and not its hilarious to watch Costa implode. There is no situation in which Costa comes out a winner (he will for sure lose his spot in Spain WC squad and probably the last two seasons of his career given he is almost 29) in this and Chelsea will at best lose out on what? £40m on his transfer fees.

I hope this gets drawn out over the next year or so. I have the popcorns ready.

Yeah Mourinho was trying to create a family like happy atmosphere and the players fecked him over. After his Read debacle he wanted a job with some harmony, to bad it was the right intention but at the wrong club. United are at this moment the right club for that sort of project. That said, Mourinho's ideas are a bit dated now and the new managers coming along are more often than not going to get better of him.

What was so funny about that question?
The sarcasm by the reporter saying "Are you in touch with him?"

What's fake about it? That's just the way he laughs:

Also, can I just say that it's mind boggling to me that people are siding with Costa here.

"I want to leave"
"No"
"I want to leave"
"No"
"I want to leave"
"Ok fine"
"HELP I'M BEING OPPRESSED WHERE'S MY LAWYER"

He was an essential part of your title win and he got a fecking text saying he wasn't needed. Didn't even have the balls to say it to his face. It was cowardly and ridiculous. He now wants to leave and is willing to not get paid for it (which tells you how badly he wants to get the feck out of there) yet the club is calling him back after they texted him he wasn't needed. All because his replacement didn't hit the ground running and they need depth.

I usually can't fecking stand Costa, can't wait to see him feck off but Chelsea look like a bunch of cocks here too.

Just a few things..
- The club had told Costa prior to the text (ie face to face) and he's been pushing for a move for a while now so it's hardly a surprise to him. It didn't come out of the blue in a text.
- They're not calling him back to play, just to honour his contract with re: training (and they're rightly fining him for his absence). It seems as though he won't be considered to play at this point.
- His replacement (Morata) scored a goal and assisted in half a game, if that's not hitting the ground running what is?!

He had requested to leave yet again in January, nearly derailing the title challenge. At that point, Conte had begun to plan for life without him. Costa came back into the team because he was assured that he would be allowed to leave in the summer. Basically Atletico's transfer ban has thrown a giant wrench into all the plans.

Also, the text conversation wasn't out of the blue, Costa has spun it to paint himself as the victim here. Conte sent a text to all the players telling them to enjoy their holiday but to stay fit (understandable given what happened in 15-16). Costa replied with some sort of joke along the lines of "feck off I'll do whatever I like". Conte then said thanks for the season, good luck, not in my plans, etc. This couldn't have been news to Costa though, as this had already been confirmed in January! His claiming to have been blindsided is utter nonsense.

Costa was a bit of an ass for disrupting their flow in January tbh.

I don't get the new managers coming in will get the better of Mourinho now comments?

Conte and his tactics were destroyed by JM at Old Trafford last season?

Unless you're referring to something else.

I can guarantee that if he runs down his contract, and doesn't train, not only will he not get paid, but the club will seek legal action against him to recoup his value. He is undercutting the board drastically and harming their ability to negotiate a fair deal.

Atletico won't even offer the 40m he is clearly worth. So Costa goes off the rails in a bid to lower his value to the selling club and push for a transfer.
