People being frustrated seems like a natural thing when such news hits home. They need a place to vent said frustration, redcafe for alot of people is that place. If you shut off the dedicated transfer thread and forbid people from venting frustration in the transfer tweet section, where do they have to go ?
It wasn't people venting frustration, it was a bunch of people moaning as if the sky had fallen down. This isn't the twitter thread, but it's still a transfer forum thread which means the debate should be relevant to news of some kind. That the transfer isn't as likely as it was, is news, but 5+ pages of people crying about it, is not news. It's a moaning echo chamber.

It's one thing to be disappointed, it's another to be disproportionately hysterical and dramatic.

When there is some good news you get 50+ pages about crazy muppets celebrating, posting songs, posting gifs, posting formations, posting smileys... That is also not relevant to the news but I never hear this amount of moaning about it.

It is a transfer thread, news, rumours, emotions all are a part of it. You will have seasons that people are very grim over our transfers and other seasons you will have people celebrating like a crazy muppet.

He posted this on instagram the other day.
Cheers for that mate. I was skimming through this thread and thought I saw someone say Pogba tweeted today about something, but it doesn't seem so.

Strange. Why should people moan about being happy??? Are you alright?

Jesus Mike, if somebody really and I mean really needs a fecking thread open on Redcafe so he can 'vent his frustration' because a player X is not coming to us then they need to reevaluate some shit in their lifes rather than explanations from you or Damo. Let's stop pretending that shit like this can be rationally explained.

Yeah it was I who posted about Pogba's instagram post. The picture is obviously posed for and it seems the both of them are in on something together. Like mentioned, saga aint over till August sings.

What I took from that Pogba post and his quote saying "always have my guy" was like him saying I will always back him whatever he chooses, so as if he still backs him even though he has chosen to stay.

AS are saying Griezmann will sign a new contract, and has promised he won't leave now next season either.

Think we really should forget this 1 guys. Seems he will prefer being a big fish in a small pond.

At the office... :\
I'm still confident we will get him. If anything this is all posturing to allow the Atletico board save face after losing their best player whilst being unable to replace them.

If it does fall through? Fair fecks - we'll buy someone else and move on. If anything, going after two 80m+ players in consecutive years should give assurances that we'll be in for superstars at any opportunity. Patience.

Maybe he felt United were too big for him - some players prefer being a big fish in a small pond - look at Le Tissier and Gerrard - both regarded as legends by their own fans.
Or perhaps he simply felt he owned it to them to stay for one more year given their ban, with an agreed reduced sell-on fee next year.

Whatever the reason, I think his sail his shipped with regards to people paying £85m for him given he'll be 27odd by next season.

People are mad because we were close to a 100 Euro signing and it's fallen through. But let's face it we need a no. 9 more than a no. 10. Griezmann can come next year. Not fussed.

This. We are not in the Moyes or LVG signings anymore. I am still quite sure the Griezmann deal is on, but if not, we will just spend the cash on 2 other great players. For Griezmann, it is now or never for him - we won't go back for him once this window closes.

Doubt we will go back. He will sign a new deal and stay at Atletico.

Wasn't it likely from the very beginning that Atletico were going to lose the appeal?

Good point.

Anyway with regard to Griezmann. The way I see it is like this, the ban meant this became very unlikely, but not impossible. What it did do is make it far more complicated. We could possibly go back for him in September (unless he renews his contract), but we're going to go for targets who aren't so difficult. If we didn't, we'd be repeating the same mistakes of the Ronaldo/Bale/Thiago/Kroos era.

Certainly feels this way. He must have known the ban would happen, probably told us all along he would join if we got CL, then once we actually got it he shit himself and came up with another excuse.

So people being frustrated and wanting to vent that somewhere on the internet can not be rationally explained ?

Iam sorry but go and have a look on twitter or youtube or maybay any other forum on the internet. There are literally millions of people complaining about stuff on there. It is human nature and nothing more than that.

The whole these people need to re-evaluate their life crap is absolutley not needed in all of this.

Good post and well summed up. Sounds like what's happening behind the scenes too.

If he stays in atletico and if we are really interested then i don't understand griezmann.
Why stay in club with which you can't and you won't win any trophies ? And you can go in one of biggest clubs in the world, win trophies and earn more money. Especially in his case. It is not his childhood club or something like that.

A fiddle is hard to play, this was like playing the tambourine for him.

This used to be the case, we moved on won things and the player would regret it, these days we will probably be pestering him every year.

We just finished 6th.......you sound like we are one of the top 3 clubs on the planet right now. We are way off and a Europa League win doesn't mean every world class player would be nuts not to sign for us.
