Chelsea at home and City away couldn't score and you're afraid of this lot?
If we sit back we'll get beat. I think we should go attacking. Hopefully with Pogba back we'll have a little more control in the middle and he does love a worldy pass now and then.
Celta have a high line so maybe over the top through balls can cause them a few issues.

This is our season. Right here. Nothing but 100% balls out will do, and not the shitfest we endured against Swansea.

The players aren't daft. They know the importance of this tie and the EL for our chances of getting into top 4. I hope there is a lot of intense preparation, and the players are gearing themselves up to perform strongly on the night.

Think we can get done, United often struggle vs Spanish teams, they're players are at least on par technically, they have few dangerous attackers, we have makeshift CB's, can get really ugly.
Since SAF retired we faced only Real Sociedad from La Liga, won 1-0 at home and drew 0-0 away, that was with Moyes in charge.

    I just hope Pogba's back
Yes this is vital. For all the talk of his disappointing first season, our midfield looks transformed without him in there, just devoid of creativity. Pace in behind through Rashford, Martial, Mkhitaryan won't do us any good if we have noone to pass the ball from midfield.

I reckon he'll try give them 45 minutes each if Bailly is out.

Yeah considering Smalling and Jones' lack of match practice, I wouldn't start them after two days of training, if Bailly is fit.

I still don't think he'll risk Bailly tomorrow, he'll want him 100% fit for the second leg so he'll be rested until then.

It'll be Darmian and Blind I reckon.

If Bailly is in full training already i suspect Jose will start him going on his comments about playing through the pain barrier.

According to our season, if we sit back we'll get… a draw. Wouldn't be a bad result away, as long it's with goals. But I think we can do much better. Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford can rip their high up in the pitch defense apart.

If he's not injured, which would damage his decision making on pressure, he's no doubt our best option.

Changed my team as a few have trained...

    DDG

    Tony Jones Bailly Darmian

    Herrera Carrick Pogba

    Lingard Rashford Martial

*Maybe Fellaini for Carrick I see Jose going for

With Fellaini suspended for the league matches, I can see him starting and Carrick given a rest.

At the back, Jose will just have to determine whom he feels can last a whole match between Jones, Smalling, Bailly. Will be good to give Bailly and Blind a rest for an upcoming match, they've been playing a lot of football. Blind may be needed at left back as well.

We kind of struggle with these high pressing teams, which we normally face starting a 4-3-3, but then have to change to a 4-2-3-1, like it happened with Liverpool at home (Rooney for Carrick at half-time).

Looking at MEN pics on twitter showing Pogba, Bailly, Jones and Smalling training. Cant help but thinking Pogba had only a twinge and was rested for two games and Baillys was a precaution against Swansea. It seemed a pretty innocuous injury at the time. If all fit to train then its only really Zlatan, Shaw and Rojo totally out. Feeling a bit more confident about this now.

    Edit
    United's full training squad

Bailly was photographed afterwards in flip flops limping and his ankle wrapped. No way it was innocuous. The guy must just be a physical beast and a fighter.

I see this as the first of 3 finals. Although it would be nice to win the EL and finish in the top 4, if I can only pick one then EL is what I want. Automatic qualification, and a trophy (one which we've not ever won before too).

Celta Vigo, as tough at they'll be are still a more favourable prospect than needing wins at the Emirates and WHL. I'd rest Jones and Smalling for the weekend, and play Blind and *hopefully* Bailly will be ready to partner him. Pogba would be a huge boost. I'll wait on further updates later regarding late decisions but many positive signs to suggest we'll be putting out a stronger squad than I otherwise thought.

yes i saw that but the tackle itself didnt look much. If these players are all suddenly fit its pretty clear the EL is being prioritised and top 4 is nolonger our main goal.

Nice to know that Bailly is training and that Jones-Smalling are back in training as well. Hoping Bailly is match fit so we can go with Bailly-Blind in this match and Jones-Smalling vs Arsenal.

Nobody even saw Shaw's tackle and he's lost for the season.

If we could sneak a win here, we can coast through the rest of the matches till final game. Any draw or lose means the pressure will be huge in our next 2 matches against Arsenal and semifinal second leg, as our season will hinge in uncertainty. This is the most important game of our season till now.

I'm confident for this tie in general. I have no reason to be but I just am.

    I'm expecting a 2-1 win away.
I'm expecting even better, that we'll kill the tie tomorrow.
