Man, Sky and BBC are running this story. Sky have suspended betting on him joining as well. I'll be very, very happy if we announce this on Monday morning!

A wide player who will spend much of the year on the bench, as there's no way our formation won't include one of our best players.
Just because Rooney is a better player than Januzaj, doesn't mean he will play better on the wing. If this was Rooney from a couple of years ago that could still beat players Rooney would hands down play over Januzaj on the wing. He doesn't beat players that often anymore and he hasn't played on the wing in a long time.

Some folks really underestimate our squad i see.

Having spent 125 million pounds and potentially more there would be really no excuse for LVG now not to get top 4 at least.
I wouldn't go that far myself, yes he's spent, but if you do a squad comparison with the other teams knocking on that door ours is still unbalanced.

What do you think of khedira ???
Never really rated him.. Well actually I did but 2 or 3 seasons ago when he partnered Xabi in a midfield 2. But that seems like ages ago. Maybe he needs a change of scenery because I know he can be a great player, hasn't really shown it lately (his injury didn't help) altough I liked him at the WC.

Again talking about money, why do you care so much? Isn't having a player of Di Maria's quality playing for us enough?

Then he should have spent it to balance it more.

And our squad matches up pretty well to most tbh. I take the average of last 2/3 years as base point. Not just last season like some.

Shaw from ESPN said he might one of three signings this week. So we will have to wait and find out.
Really? that's good news. I've little to no confidence in some of our options in CM and at the back. Strengthening those positions is key, rather LVG is a miracle worker or not. The first game says otherwise.

Does anybody expect us to sign any more players if this one goes through? because as smashing as Di Maria is, it's only one problem solved, which is our shite wingplay aside from a 19 year old. We'll still need another defender and central midfielder to even think about getting back into the CL.
Wrong if Di Maria settles we are dead cert for the CL, signing Benatia + De Jong brings us right back into the title race. With an explosive player like Di Maria our forward line will be too hot to handle, suddenly there is someone scaring defenders with pace and trickery meaning that there is more space for Mata to operate in and we have goals, plenty of them in RvP and Rooney. That front four alone is more than enough to get us into the top four.

Yeah, he said it so calmly and matter of fact as if its pretty much already a done deal.
The other thing is that what he's saying actually makes sense. There's a lot of politics at Madrid and Balague was articulating just why this is happening. That's the clincher for me.

I think Madrid looked at him as a different type of player then he actually is, and he wasn't Madrid quality anyways. Madrid saw him as a defensive mid when he's a box to box player who's best qualities are his energy and strength and pressing. Defensively he's not got great positioning and isn't a holding midfielder, or an anchor man or whatever, but plenty of people seem to think he is for whatever reason.

It does not matter how much we pay for him. We have shit loads of cash. We are bringing in quality which is always nice.

He mentioned in his follow up article that Blind was the second, and the third was "a midfielder" whoever that might be.
I read this and don't really understand why we're signing Blind if we're looking at another CM too. Surely Blind would be signed to play CM, considering we have Shaw and now Rojo who can play LB...the only reason I can think of is because he can play in a few positions and would be a handy back up for us but would we really pay 20 million for a back up player?

Not sure why Januzaj keeps appearing these lineups. He'll spend much of the year on the bench.
Maybe not. Januzaj has proven that even when the shit hits the fan, he'll soldier on. That's emotional maturity that Louis Van Gaal craves. He may yet play more often than not.

£50m for him would be about right. 60m and it's getting silly, but we're not in a position to bargain. Glad we're paying it either way.

I rate him very highly and hope he plays a lot more this year, but I doubt it would be at Rooney's expense.
