He's contributed far less to the team then Young and Valencia, and people are going out of their way to praise him. Look at Fellaini. He's been he half a season and barely had a chance, but does he get the benefit of the doubt? Anderson had 6 years to prove himself and did feck all with it.
He's contributed a lot more than Ashley fecking Young has. Anderson has had good games in his time here. You can count Young's on both hands; that's how incredibly terrible the bloke has been here. His season so far has been a monstrosity.

Will the kebab shops around Manchester go on loan to Fiorentina as well?

More blind hatred for Young. Why is it wrong to criticise a perpetually overweight waste of space, but practically encouraged to criticise Young? You're no better than anyone who's had a go at Anderson.Get your head out of your arse.

It's not wrong to criticise Anderson but saying that Young contributed more than him is just ridiculous. I'm sure you know that and you're just trying to wind people up as you cannot possibly be serious there.

Young has without doubt contributed more than Anderson.Ando was always someone who might one day do something whereas Young is someone who often does.I am not a fan of either being at our club, and I am actually furious with Anderson for not even nearly reaching his potential.I think he is naturally a bit on the weighty side but his lack of desire pisses me off!

Hang on, Anderson has been here for 6 years, and barely played a few games in a row without injury, and barely ever finished a game!

Young had a pretty good first season, and has at least been fit most of the time.
I don't think it's a mad statement to say Young has contributed as much if not slightly more.

To me, Anderson's crowning glories were a few top games against Fabregas and Gerrard ages back, then penalty in the champs league final, and the combo with Cleverley when we had that mad goal scoring free playing run about 3 years ago!

Believe whatever you want. People don't like Young because he dives, but he's scored important goals for United. Anderson had a few good games in his first season and had done nothing since. He's never been match fit, probably has the worst shot in the league, and he can barely pass the ball. He always smiles though, so there's that.

It's hardly a ridiculous point, it's perfectly valid IMO. Young has actually been a decent squad player at times, where as Anderson hasn't even been that.

That's blatant revisionism. Young has had fewer injuries but that's about it while Anderson just never justified the hopes we had for him but he played in important games and he was very much a part of the squad and played the amount of games you'd expect from a squad player. Even last season he played more than Young!

Come on people, Anderson has been hugely disappointing overall and a waste of talent but to claim he contributed less than Ashley fecking Young is bizarre.

No, people don't like Young because he's a poor player who's done feck all for United apart from scoring a couple of screamers against Arsenal and Spurs. He's been just an extra body in the squad.

Another one of the fickle. There is a faction of people that have allowed two nice strikes of the football to blind what has gone on before. Ashley Young hasn't had 10 games at the club with which you could consider his general game that of United standard. He has been woeful for 18 months and put in performances so bad, so negative, that Anderson has seldom matched. Anderson has had good games for the club. He has, at times, done clever things with a football that we associate with United footballers. Young has done that every now and then, muddied by a barrage of atrocity.

Young has been "a decent squad player." On what fecking planet is that? He's been injured half the time to start with. Infact, I'd actually hazard a guess that he's spent more time out than Anderson, relative to their time at the club. A decent squad player has good games. They're usually money well spent. Usually, they didn't cost that much.

I swear people just reel of clichés without actually recalling back to games. Young's nationality and mediocre talent seems to have created this image of "good squad player" even though all visual evidence points to the contrary. Somebody has just said "he scores important goals." What, one against Blackburn? The second most important one of that game? Anderson has been a big disappointment, however, between the injuries, and particularly over the past couple of seasons, he's put in some good games in midfield. I said it last week that there will be gross and negative revisionism when he does leave and this discussion only ratifies my thinking. Even last season, a bad game against Southampton aside, he was good in most others. Young has never managed two good consecutive games since his first month at the club. This is the reality.

Young didn't have a pretty good first season. He scored nice goals against Arsenal and Spurs. That's about it. He was, by and large, mediocre.

Yeah, you're right about Anderson's crowning glories. Young hasn't reached even those heights. Anderson has set the bar pretty low but Young managed to perform even worse. It's somewhat impressive, in a weird way.

And Anderson played more games - and played better - in both his first and second season than Young did in his best season here, 2011/12. Whichever way you look at it, Young has been an absolutely disastrous signing and he managed to contribute even less than Anderson.

Never understood why United fans here treat Young as the worst thing since Hitler. Young had a decent first season for both club and country. I don't think Anderson ever had a full season with such effectiveness. Anderson was the only one with potential to be class but potential means little.

07/08, 08/09 - Anderson was much better in both seasons than Young in 11/12. It's odd with Young: since his last 18 months were so horrible, many fans suddenly look back on his 11/12 form and say he was good back then. He wasn't. He started well but faded pretty quickly. It just looks good compared to the abysmal form he's produced in the last year and a half.

I liked Anderson as a driving force in our team but I can't understand on what grounds you consider him as ever being effective to our team. Anderson and Young have always had similar roles of driving the team forward but shackled with some defensive responsibility, only one of them actually ever made creative/attacking contributions and that's Young. Unfortunately Anderson flattered to deceive and did the simple stuff well whilst never making real contributions, Young (his bad period of form aside) does the opposite most of the time which is what makes him so frustrating.

Young didn't fade badly the fan base just lost hope of him ever being more than an average player who pops up with contributions. We always had hope for Anderson.

Anderson wasn't ever particularly effective, I'm just saying that he was far better during his first two seasons here than Young ever was. Like I said, the bar was set pretty low but Young managed to squeeze himself under it. And Anderson had some very good games for us which are forgotten amid all the justified disappointment. Far more good games than Young.

Comparing their roles is difficult as most of the time Anderson was part of a midfield two while Young is a winger which means he's supposed to be one of our most important creative influences, given the way we play. Yet he's never been creative in any way for us. He's an average player who stopped popping up with actual contributions a long time ago.

Anderson is shit. You're all mental.
My dear, the discussion is about whether Young is even shitter.

And he is. While we do have a good squad overall, we have some seriously shite players. Ashley Young is clearly one of them. Anderson, too, unfortunately.

I mentioned Ashley Young to point out the hypocrisy on this site. He's scored 10 and created 20 in 54 games, Anderson has scored 9 and created 22 in 104 appearances. That's a difference of one goal. Young has been here half the time Anderson has, and he's had the same impact. So I stand corrected, he hasn't contributed more than Anderson, but the shite he gets from the fans is completely unwarranted when compared to the baffling love for Anderson.

Anderson probably gets love because he seems like the most fun guy, ever. It seems like he has a great relationship with everyone. Part player. Part cheerleader.

Are they incorrect like?

Edit: Yeah the number of appearances are wrong, but it doesn't change my overall point.
They play in completely different positions so judging their contribution based on goals scored/assisted is quite pointless. It's like saying Carrick contributed less to our success than Nani.

Christ some of the reactions on here, it's like Anderson shat in your pillows or something. He's always been a likeable lad, and his downfall was always injuries. It's a shame how he didn't fulfill his potential but you can't say he didn't try or was completely shit when he was here. He went through a few good runs of form and always loved the club, he was just unlucky with his two leg breaks and because of those, the subsequent injuries.

I would've preferred to see him get a lot more games then he did this season to be honest, it's not like anyone else was impressing. Wish him well though.

Liking Anderson has nothing to do with his quality on the pitch. Macheda was shite as well but we all love him as well (I hope anyway).

Good luck to him and I hope he can fulfill his potential in Italy. The bitter bastards can feck off

Why's it bitter to be relived someone who clearly wasn't good enough for United is gone? There's some revisionist history in this thread, it's as if Anderson never had a bad game. People seem to use it again as a stick to beat the club with, you can't keep people on a contract at a football club because they seem a laugh, Anderson has been mediocre to poor for years now and clearly isn't good enough. I don't particularly dislike him but I'm glad he's gone, the WBA game this season he put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen.

All this stuff about how he scored a penalty as well is strange, United fans in general take the piss of Liverpool for bragging about their history but by using a penalty he scored in a final 6 years ago we're doing the exact same thing.

I don't think he's completely committed and always gives 100% either, I was on a works do a few years ago on a Tuesday night and United had a CL Game on the Wednesday, went town and seen Anderson out on the piss with a few others....he was on the bench for the game the next day, hardly a "top pro always giving 100%." I'm sure he's a nice guy but that doesn't really bother me in the slightest, I'm sure Roy Keane's a bit of a cnut but I know which 1 I'd rather have playing in their prime for United.

Some of you are very strange.

Over the course of of the 6 years he's been largely well below par and I definitely think it's the right time for him to leave. That said I liked him and hope he can get his career back on track.

Wanting him to fail at Fiorentia and hating him comes across as bitter.

I don't hate him, I don't think anyone hates him, but why would I want a player who's wasted a massive opportunity to go and succeed somewhere else?
Well for a start we could get some good money for him if he does well. That's as good a reason as any

I don't want him to fail, but I can't pretend I'm desperate for him to do well, in all honesty I'm not to bothered now. I don't think it's bitter at all, at the end of the day he's been pretty poor in his time at United so people will be annoyed with him. I find it stranger how people are pissed off he's gone (which I've seen in this thread, not from you) just because he seemed "a laugh" or "a nice guy" that's now how you should judge footballers really. I don't buy this stuff where "he always gave 100%" there was plenty of times where he didn't. He pretty much always looked unfit when he played and rarely did 90 minutes, that's shocking for a professional footballer.

I've seen plenty of comments saying that it's not his fault that Fergie paid a shit load of money for him and it's not. I don't judge him on how much money he cost but judge him on how he played and he never really seemed good enough, that's not Fergie's fault or Moyes or anyones but Andersons.

Well that would depend on whether you actively want him to fail. If you don't care either way then that is understandable. However, actively wanting a player who just happened to not be good enough for the club to fail in his future career is the mark of a cnut. I don't know where you stand so I cannot judge.
