More blind hatred for Young. Why is it wrong to criticise a perpetually overweight waste of space, but practically encouraged to criticise Young? You're no better than anyone who's had a go at Anderson.Get your head out of your arse.
Another one of the fickle. There is a faction of people that have allowed two nice strikes of the football to blind what has gone on before. Ashley Young hasn't had 10 games at the club with which you could consider his general game that of United standard. He has been woeful for 18 months and put in performances so bad, so negative, that Anderson has seldom matched. Anderson has had good games for the club. He has, at times, done clever things with a football that we associate with United footballers. Young has done that every now and then, muddied by a barrage of atrocity.
Young has been "a decent squad player." On what fecking planet is that? He's been injured half the time to start with. Infact, I'd actually hazard a guess that he's spent more time out than Anderson, relative to their time at the club. A decent squad player has good games. They're usually money well spent. Usually, they didn't cost that much.
I swear people just reel of clichés without actually recalling back to games. Young's nationality and mediocre talent seems to have created this image of "good squad player" even though all visual evidence points to the contrary. Somebody has just said "he scores important goals." What, one against Blackburn? The second most important one of that game? Anderson has been a big disappointment, however, between the injuries, and particularly over the past couple of seasons, he's put in some good games in midfield. I said it last week that there will be gross and negative revisionism when he does leave and this discussion only ratifies my thinking. Even last season, a bad game against Southampton aside, he was good in most others. Young has never managed two good consecutive games since his first month at the club. This is the reality.
