No, you're just being a twat about it.

How so? There's cnuts getting all misty eyed about this waster and I cannot understand that! He has been with us 6 and a half years and hasn't improved one bit. He's always out of shape, can't manage 90 mins and is earning a wage we can only dream of. So forgive me if I don't appear gutted that this cnut has been binned off (I just hope he does something over there that make them buy him becasue I'll be gutted if he came back to us)

He is fat for a footballer. We are so used to seeing fat people in society that he might look 'normal' to some people. Look at his completely undefined arms and torso. He is carrying too much excess weight for an athlete.

Not at all. I tell it how it is.
You tell it in an extremely childish manner though.

He's not been good enough for us and injuries have played their part. If you think he should have gone long time back vent your anger at the managers who have kept him at old Trafford for so long.

Plus he's not actually garbage. Without injuries, he's a decent player. Everyone who isn't good enough for Manchester United isn't garbage. Otherwise more than 95% of footballers are rubbish, which obviously is nowhere near the truth.

When he departs, you'd hope we have someone coming in. We're not exactly plush with midfielders so losing one means surely we have a replacement lined up.

In theory. In reality we are losing one who never played. When necessary Rooney and Kagawa were prefered deeper in midfield over Anderson. He was behind Carrick, Fletcher, Jones, Cleverley, Fellaini, Rooney and Kagawa there.

I hope we strengthen midfield too, but Anderson leaving hardly changes the situation from what it was before.

My guess is that he is a good influence in training and dressing room. Unlike Bosnich, who pissed Fergie off with his eating habits.

Hardly. Im a porker myself. I guess Im trying to provide some kind of counterpoint. This feels like a case of groupthink to me, or a joke that has taken on a life of its own. Hardly a post gets made concerning Anderson that doesnt make reference to him being fat, usually to explain why he hasnt made it as a footballer. That strikes me as strange given in actual fact he doesnt strike me as being fat, he strikes me as being short and ripped with muscle. You say he could drop a few pounds, OK maybe he could but, that being the case, is the perception fans have of him proportionate? I made a comment suggesting he isnt actually that fat and I got half a dozen responses to that within a few minutes, the first of which assumed I was a WUM. If you read that and hadnt seen him youd think he was actually seriously fat. I just dont think he is.

But again, it may be I am entirely wrong on that, it is just an impression. As I said before, if someone posts a photo of him where he actually looks fat (and he absolutely doesnt in the photo above, his gut is smaller than his chest, that is not fat by my definition, ive never seen someone who puts weight on their moobs and not on their stomach - except that guy in Fight Club but that surely doesnt count.)

Anyway I dont want to spend ages defending this POV, Ive made my observation, Id be interested to see photo evidence if anyone has it, otherwise if people think he's fat then fair dos, its hardly the most interesting debate to get bogged down in, especially since he is off now, he isnt our problem anymore - not for the rest of this season anyway.

The point is that he isn't as fit as he could be for a professional footballer. The same applies to Grant Holt.

This isn't some sort of witch hunt against overweight people. Anderson needs to drop some weight, and has needed to for years. He obviously isn't a blob, but for christ's sake all you have to do is look at that picture to see he is carrying a bit (for a professional footballer). Comparing him to yourself means nothing, you're not paid to be fit !

Wasn't it pretty much unanimously decided by the players that Anderson was the worst/laziest trainer in the squad?

What I meant is that he probably made the group happier, or merrier, or something along that line. But that doesnt make him a good trainer, if he indeed is one. Just a thought really.

It's odd seeing him gone. He's been with us for 6/7 years. It's crazy.

Everytime he looked as if he was looking as if he improving, he would get injured. He didn't have much luck, apart from being fortunate for Fergie not giving up on him.

I adore the character that is Anderson. Genuinely seemed to enjoy playing football and being at Old Trafford.

Good luck Ando!

Okay so Anderson came in and had to adapt to England. He played in a slightly different position in central midfield, he had some problems with fitness and injury, he failed. Look over to Rafael as someone who faces all the same things but has succeeded. He came to England, had to learn to play right back instead of a wingback, he's had some fitness and injury concerns but he's here and he's still our best right back. You can make all the excuses you want but its the level of application to his work that means Rafael is a success here and Anderson is not.

I'm going to miss him, I understand he hasn't been great for is but...I can't help but love him a little.

Yup. Bang on the money. Also I'd argue Anderson's had the road paved out for him in terms of available positions in the starting XI. But he's never done enough to play regularly. The fat, thieving twat.

I don't get the love-in that some seem to have for him, it's odd.

He never lived up to what was, quite brilliant, early potential. At Porto, his productivity wasn't all that great, but like Januzaj, he was young and could easily beat a man, was a good dribbler and a good passer. The photo of him when he signed and the photos of him now are quite a contrast. He hasn't looked after himself and for his height / a footballer, is clearly carrying extra pounds.

Anderson cost a-lot of money and obviously his wages trebled at the very least when he joined us. Maybe it was a case of him thinking he had made it before he had. He had a very promising first season and I was genuinely excited by his Brazilian flair and his style of play. People blame a combination of things on him not succeeding here but the ones that blame Fergie for not playing him in his 'proper position' are way off. Yes he was a number 10 when he joined but he had every chance to adapt to a new position. I honestly don't feel he wanted it enough and he was lazy.

I won't miss him one bit and fully expect him back in the summer. The people that think he will be an instant hit in Serie A are deluded. Fiorentina already have better midfielders than him and it is a tough league. He has massive consistency and fitness issues and they won't go away overnight. Im genuinely shocked at the blind-faith shown on here towards Ando by certain posters, it's just baffling. It was clear a long long time ago that he wasn't going to make it here.

He is still a United player so I wish him all the best. But I will also be saying good riddance......until
the summer anyway.

Wow, heaven forbid anybody actually likes one of our players.

There's plenty of players to like - i, along with many others, just can't see what it is with Anderson. Yeah, he's a character but he's not very good at his job. But hey, he scored a penalty in Moscow and pulls faces at keepers when we have a free kick. Legend

Did he shag your missus or something?

I guess it's the fact that he always looks like he's enjoying the game, and in 6.5 years we've only heard positive reports of him form other players. There's enough players out there who don't seem to even apprecaite the amazing luck they have in playing football, and sulk around the place, and there are plenty more who are just down-right nasty pieces of work. He didn't spend his time on the pitch feigning injury, or trying to get players booked etc and so on.

Anderson has always seemed to see the lighter side of life, which is an appealing quality to many.

No, he wasn't great at his job, but I'm not sure I've ever used that as a criteria for whether I like somebody or not in my life.

Will he get much game time at Fiorentina? They have quite a technical central midfield with the likes of Valero, Pizarro and Aquilani. No idea how any of them have been playing of late, mind.

Wow he scored a penalty in Moscow

Lets do a trinity statue with him in the center, Bebe on the right and Quinton Fortune on the left.

I think youve nailed it. And I think the lord so many people think like you do or I doubt Id have any friends.

Love Anderson, I really hope this move will do him good. Shame he couldn't make it at United.
Best of luck...

I've seen a couple of things today saying we paid £25-27m for Ando. That's not correct is it, pretty sure it was more like £17-20m?
I think someone mentioned that the difference is explained by the difference between exchange rates at the time and now.

Yeah what Brophs said. We paid £17m thanks to the exchange rate. Even that seems a bloody rip off mind you.

So we paid for him pretty much straight away (wisely with hindsight)?

In what sane world does it make sense for the fee to be reported in today's exchange rates? Just shit stirring by the media, presumably.

wow devilish is a cnut and an idiot. Let's finally ban him.

I'll never forget Helen McQueen on the day we announced Nani Anderson and Hargreaves. "Manchester united have completed a triple transfer swoop". Such a good day regardless of how it didn't benefit us in the long term in any way.

We all did our internet searches and decided Nani was ronaldo, Anderson was ronaldinho and we know Hargreaves was a man who ran around and got very sweaty.

That's why it's hard not to like him.

Tevez, great player, lef the club in a cnutish way, Ando thanked everyone, you can tell he genuinely loves the club and wishes his mates well.
