I trust Irwin, he was one of the most reliable player I've ever watched.

Pele was one of the best players I'm sure most of us have ever seen, doesn't mean he speaks the most sense out of all the greats

Irwin doesn't strike me as a bullshitter, though. If he called the RVP transfer as well, then we have reason to at least get our hopes up.

I guess the important thing to remember here is that Irwin didn't say that we will sign Fabregas. That suggests that we have already made an offer and that he's seriously considering it. Iriwin merely said that Fabregas is our first priority and that said player is likely to leave Barcelona. In other words: it's all up to Fabregas now. Will he give Barca a second chance, or will he leave? And if he leaves, where will he go? In United he'd become an instant star for one of the best clubs in the world and greatest clubs in history. He wont be heavily overshadowed, nor will his time be short. He's looking at many wonderful years.

If he isn't satisfied with playing for Barcelona, then I really don't see who else are gonna sign him, except for Bayern maybe. Arsenal will just be an awkward return and a massive step down. He doesn't strike me as a cnut who's only after money either, so that leaves a lot of clubs out. And, despite maybe being unsatisfied in Barcelona, I doubt he'll go to Real, seeing as he's a Barcelona man.

If Fabregas is leaving, then I think we're the most likely destination.

Thiago over Cesc for me. I believe he will surpass his level and move more to an Iniesta level of player in the very near future.

If he's not a cnut, he won't sign for us. I think he has too much respect for Arsenal.

HELLO
I've talked to a few people who seem to think he'll go back to Arsenal before anyone else. Loyalty means little to nothing in football nowadays, if he does leave Barca anytime soon - which I sincerely doubt he will, then it won't be to the Emirates.

Like Cole, Clichy, Nasri and RVP?

I think it's worth noting that we are not really rivals of Arsenal anymore. It's been 8(!) years since Arsenal finished in a top 2 position. It's been many years since they managed to finish 3rd as well. It's actually much worse if he goes to Chelsea or City, seeing as they are the main reason for Arsenal being reduced from 'title challenger' to 'bothersome London fixture'. Sure, Arsenal fans aren't going to be happy about it, but it's far from being a backstabbing cnut-move in my opinion. We're a clearly better side, and not even rivals, other than the fact that we are based in the same league.

Couldn't care less.
Fabregas is proven PL quality and is basically everything we need to bolster our midfield. I don't get how anyone can prefer Thiago.

"...so the deal should be done easily enough."

Yeah that was the stand out line! On what planet would it be done easily enough when Fabregas threw away hero status at Arsenal to move to the club he's from!

And Evra to Monaco? After losing Fergie, Scholes and some of the backroom boys, losing another big influential player would surely be a risk too much.

Ah, my mind somehow made it seem like Chelsea got the 3rd place last year, seeing as they won the Champions League and all... Then I remembered how random that cup actually is:lol:

Still, Arsenal is hardly a powerhouse anymore. There are at least 10 better clubs as of this moment.

If I recall correctly I think Fabregas's current missus cheated on her ex hubby to be with Cesc - so i don't think he's completely whiter than white. What relevance this has to him possibly signing for United I don't really know but I'm clinging to the hope that loyalty isn't all too high on his list of priorities and plus its a good excuse to perve on his bird.

Giggs has cheated on his wife with his brother's wife. A lack of integrity in your private doesn't always translate into a lack of integrity in your professional life. That said, United isn't Chelsea and the days of the Keane/Vieira rivalry are over. I don't think a move to United would mean he's a illoyal cnut.

That's it then. It definitely means he is going to cheat on Arsenal and sign for United.

Get in!

Manchester United are increasingly confident they can bring Cesc Fabregas and Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford this summer after being given private encouragement from both players.
New United manager David Moyes would ideally like to bring both the Barcelona midfielder and Borussia Dortmund’s Polish international striker to the club before his squad departs on a tour of Asia and Australia in the middle of next month.
It is understood that both players have expressed an interest in joining the Barclays Premier League champions and that United feel they can do the deals.

At this point Lewandowski is more of a want than a need. He is a luxury. An absolutely brilliant player but we should work on midfield first, which means better wingers and better central midfielders.

Does the mail even care about its reputation anymore?
What you on about? It exceeds its reputation for being absolute shite every single day.

And if you think the football section is ridiculous click on the home page. It's beyond belief.

True, but maybe that's why it sells. It's so shit that people just have to see what they have come up with next.

For me, if we were to make one more signing this close season, it'd be Fabregas. Just ticks all the boxes. Premier League proven, age on his side, genuine quality talent. Be an amazing coup.

This is a huge plus point for any signings we make, we need players who can slot straight into the side and handle the pace/pressure of the PL. That's why I'd prefer him over other CMs we've been linked with.
