So glad he didn't end up at Liverpool.

The posts you quoted come across as a bit weird. His problem at Ajax was with Van Gaal (technical director) who he felt was too strict and with Van der Vaart who had Golden Boy status by being made captain at a young age and heralded as Cruyff's successor. Ronald Koeman loved Ibra though, based on my memory of I am Zlatan. Ibra still had pretty good numbers and only Milik surpassed them last season iirc. Ajax was also the first club he joined after leaving Malmo and we all know his supremely confident attitude - he didn't like Wenger asking him to do a trial - and always had problem when coaches tried to discipline or shoehorn him into specific roles. That is also why he loves Maureen I think - remember him saying Zlatan is the best player in the world when we visited San Siro for Round of 16 game in 2008-09 season. Ronaldo just won the Ballon d'Or.

Thats for one year yes?
Yep. Even for 2 years a 26 million outlay would probably be 30-50% of the transfer fee of one of the others mentioned who will look to get 150K+ per week as well. The wages sound exorbitant but its not a huge outlay and may allow us to focus on other areas of the team.

Included the first post that is already posted above for context

So we're apparently offering £400,000 a week? According to that, he was on £287,000 at PSG as well. Not sure why the 8m is less/not taxable if it's a bonus?

Yeah - the BBC say we want him and he could be our first signing this Summer.

Oh i agree to an extent mate. If he plays like he has for PSG then he would be worth it no problem. And yeah his signing would allow us to invest more in other areas.

But looking at the rumours going around it says he's looking £13m for one year with an option for a second + £8m bonus after 12 months (i assume he gets this if we don't take up the option of a second year).

I don't know if this includes any potential signing on bonus which i think is usually around 6 months wages so potentially another £6-7m? And then i imagine his agent will want a slice, whats the going rate for these agent fees in these big deals £2-5m?

I could be talking out my arse here (it's a real possibility) but we could be looking at an outlay of £21-33m for one year for one player even if it doesn't work out.

Jesus let's hope if he does sign he scores shit loads and proves worth the expense

overrated as f&&k his wages are ridiculous lets buy a younger striker and allow him martial abd rashford grow together or splash big on kane

I do agree that he may be overhpyed due to his media personality.

However, I think that signing a 36 year old striker rather than going out and signing another big name actually bodes well for the future of Rashford and Martial

I just hope that Jose moves Martial back into the middle

Will the deal make him the highest paid in the club??.. Rooney wont be happy about it..Hope he throws a tantrum and probably this time we get him out....

In Ligue 1.... Depay had amazing stats too last season!

I am not saying he's overrated , but backing up with ligue 1's stats is not a good argument...
So to understand you, we should never post stats from any of the leagues from 5th and down? And sure as feck I back up his stats from this season as 50+19 is amazing even what you try to suggest.

And that's not just Ligue 1. His stats in CL are 5+3 in 10 games including 3 goals against Chelsea and man c. He's shit against English teams..

His last season in Serie A at Milan: 32 games. 28 goals + 8 assists.

But maybe Serie A is not enough either to perform in? We should just accept players from PL and La Liga.

If those numbers are true,we better pull the feck out.If all that info correct, dont have only issue with amount of money.

I think there is no question that he would do the business here - the only concern is if he was our only summer signing, but if that's not the case why not bring him in?

Payet couldn't even dream of those numbers in Ligue 1. Infact no player has got close.
Not to mention he has been racking up numbers at every club he has gone to

Would be more for marketing than football reasons IMO. Might be great to watch for 1-2 years, but not the way to a build a team.

No player who does not play for PSG could ever get those numbers, considering they are about 3 times as good and many more times as rich as any other club. Ligue 1 is broken - there is only one big club in France now.

He is 34 and will still be 34 when the season starts.

Not footballing reasons?! He's one of the best players in the world, of course it's footballing reasons. He would be our best player easily.

Cantona retired a long time before he hit Ibrahimovic's age. Ibra is after one last big pay packet.

And people said the same about Di Maria. And many about Falcao.

i would enjoy Ibrahimovic at United. For maybe one ridiculously expensive season, where we aren't even in the CL.

So another one comparing Falcao to Ibra? Di Maria didn't want to be here and LvG had no clue how to use him.

People in this thread has probably not watched Zlatan for many years.
