Should we sign Ibra on a free this summer ?

I think Martial, Rashford and say, for example, Mkhitaryan/James Rodriguez could be excellent in a counter attacking front three. Very fluid and interchangeable too. Whether Ibra signs or not, I am sure that Rashford and Martial will still play an important role for us.

Rashford could be excellent but I certainly wouldn't want to rely on him over the course of a season.

We had nothing to lose last season; that's not the case this year. He should be a squad player at best.

Besides everything else that I've commented on in terms of the Ibra signing, hopefully he will be able to impart some of the attitude on Martial and Rashford that has made him the footballer he is today, as well as mentoring some of his quality in front of goal.

There aren't a lot of strikers out there that are his level of quality at his age, which must mean he trains really hard.

Maybe he will encourage Wazza to drop a few pounds?

I was a lot more excited about this transfer before the Euros. Thought he was incredibly frustrating there. He's a lot like Berbatov in the sense that when things aren't working for him he just seems to be strolling around. With that being said, I still think he'd be a good signing -- but not a great one. If there are better options out there, I think we should look into them. Can't really think of any though.

that's true for all world class players including Ronaldo Bale and all

A bit of off topic here.

His agent is by all means a cnut. All the 3 players making noises to involve with United are his this summer. It seems a bit weird to me. And he does not really have a good relationship with United.

The guy always makes noises about how his clients are interested in moving to bla bla after a couple of years at a club. Didn't Zlatan talk about how he and his agent 'trolled' about potential transfer to make Barca's president at that time 'upset'? Wasn't the agent the same guy? For all we know, he could be taking the piss with us.

Anyway, I am not sure if United really want to deal with someone like him even we have a new management now.

Also, people hanging on how Ancelotti had nice words for zlatan, well have we ever seen Carlos talked shit about anyone? That guy is the nicest you will ever seen in football world I think.

I wonder what his wages will be considering that when players hit their 30s we usually reduce their wages to around 80-90K per week with 1 year extensions. What more a 35yr old who is new to the PL??

If nothing happens this week I'm going to start being concerned

Wages are probably decided more in relation to a player's contribution or worth to a team, I don't think it's a strict rule about age. Age is a bigger factor in determining the length of the contract - supposedly we offered Ibra one year with a 2nd year option whereas he wants a straight 2 year deal.

Guardian says he wants £220k and wages are more to do with your value to the team not age

He's not just some player in his 30s. He's Zlatan.

Which will be better for Ibra? PSG's or Uniteds setup?

P$G: (I know PSG don't play 4231)
Ibrahimovic
Cavani - Matuidi - Di Maria
United (potentially):
Ibrahimovic
Martial - James - Mkhitaryan
Whose front 4 is better? And better suited to Zlatan?

PSGs comfortably from those. We hopefully won't sign James.

The first option looks more balanced, but the second has more quality.

I like United better there. James is a much better no. 10 than Matuidi although Matuidi obviously provides great work rate and defensive ability. If we're going by the Mkhitaryan we saw in Bundesliga last season, then I'll give him the edge over Di Maria as he is more of a goal threat and his assists numbers were just as good in a stronger league (if not better). Cavani is a better player than Martial right now but he's not very comfortable on the wing and I like Martial a lot better there.

I'll be very concerned if reports are true that we are giving him £220k. He is already 34, turning 35 this year. We used to take the piss out of Chelsea during the early Roman era but what I respect about Chelsea now is that after they have laid out a foundation, they have a strict wage structure and they don't give out silly salaries like this.

Debatable (and it has less to do with me overrating Martial than with my evaluation of Cavani's level). Peak Cavani (for Napoli) was better, of course, but now I'm not so sure

Second this. Cavani may post better stat, then we must take into account of quality of PSG vs the majority of Ligue 1. Then notice that hardly anyone can catch a good game from Cavani!

Not saying Martial is already a top player ( I think he has a very long way). Here just want to say that the level of Cavani is not easily better as it may sound. Cavani is very strange player.

It's only going to be for a year. It's nothing compared to what we've wasted/are continuing to waste on that fat lump Rooney.

What would your thoughts be if we were signing him for £7.5m and giving him a 2 year deal on ~£145k per week?

You have to weigh everything up. Chelsea had to pay that to get the players in the first place. We are rebuilding and Zlatan (from the outside looking in), appears to be the best option. Forget his age - in some respects, that works in our favor with the kids we have coming through, but at the same time I'd rather a 34/35 Ibrahimovic then a 30 year old RVP because his movement is better and if we play the way we can, then he would have to be wearing clown boots to fail. His advice and experiences in the dressing room - and personality and confidence, will be a big boost.

So Zlatan might come on a big wage - but who else is? Are we offering that to everyone? No. We would only do it because we can handle it.

Why? He's a top player and very marketable. It's not like everyone else will ask for Zlatan level money.

Still how do they you rate that "value to the team" especially when you consider legends like Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Vida, Rio, Evra etc never got even half of that

Well that's a strange argument. You may not have realised but the money in football has increased quite a bit since Keane was playing. And I'm pretty sure Rio was on a £100k+

Did you miss the news about the PL's new TV deal?

Well maybe Keane is a bit far back but this has nothing to do with TV money otherwise Carrick who is arguably our best midfielder for that last few seasons is not getting half of that

I'm pretty certain Carrick is on over 110k /week, or at least was before he just signed this extension.

And anyway, you can't compare the marketability of the two.

Not universally highly rated by the mass = less marketable value. Not demanded by other big teams, and not a signing that can significantly add chances of winning trophy. A senior figure at United, but not true leader material...

And Carrick was 100k+ before this new contract.

Ibrahimovic is far better than Carrick and the club will be signing him expecting him to be one of our best players next season.

He's also one of the most marketable players in world football. Seriously how can you not see why Ibra will get £220k and why Carrick, a player who was poor for much of last season and not even a starter, doesn't

If you want the best players than you have to deal with cnut agents. If Fergie had been a bit more tactful and cooperative when it concerns dealing with cnut agents, Pogba would still be here instead of at Juve and we wouldn't need to be pay 120m for a player that came out of our own academy. Hazard would have been a United player aswell if he would have been a bit more modern about dealing with player agents and their enormous fees.

If you want to be successful as a club and you want to sign the best players than you deal with these agents and you pay them what you must to facilitate the moves that you require, even if the agents are gigantic cnuts.

For Sweden, Teams doubled up and tripled up on zlatan as they knew without him they would struggle to score (and they were right). And other players like berg and guidetti were poor to take advantage of the space

At United, if people doubled up on him, then it frees up some other player like martial or Rooney or mkhitariyan(if he signs). Last year similar happened to us with martial as we had no one to create stuff apart from him. So it will be more effective for zlatan and United.

Barca do not have any Mendes' clients, and no Raiola's at the moment I think. Renato Sanchez is the 1st player under Mendes that BM signed, I think no Raiola's at the moment as well.
