If he can make our opponents to score one OG/game, I for one, will be happy. ;)

If not for the footballing reason, Zlatan (+Mourinho) will make us more attractive for other players to come here! And for marketing reason he must be a wet dream for Woodward.

Don't really like wearing footy shirts but I'd be tempted to get one with Ibra on the back then go down the park and demand all my mates pick players to 'be' so I can be him.

thats been my prediction all summer - him linking up with anchelotti - hope I'm wrong but I imagine a CL medal would be more important than PL to most people and he would have a great chance at Bayern of achieving that

Plus he would definitely win the German league, which he hasn't done before. Go to Bayern for a guaranteed league win and a good shot at CL, or to United to hopefully get top three and no CL. Only question is if Bayern want him.

Said it before but will say again as I really hope it's how we line up next season .

Zlanthony ibrashford

I've been positive about this for a long time, but I have to admit, yesterdays game put me off a bit. He barely moved for 90 minutes. The team will have to be set up perfectly around him for this to work out for the best.

That's the main worry with Zlatan, his "walking" mode on for most of football matches. He's still very strong and he can score without a doubt but expect very little movement from him. He would be a very un-Mourinho signing tbh.

I say it again........there's zero chance that Ibrahimovic will move to Bayern Munich.

I will wear a Liverpool and Manchester City shirt every day if that would happen.

Agreed with that. They have a very flat wage structure. There is no way they bring in Zlatan and pay him over the moon (and Zlatan is not taking a big pay cut either), well beyond Muller, Lahm, Robben, Lewa, etc. And he really doesn't fit the rest of the team, given that they already have Lewandowski as CF and Muller as a second striker and that they are accustomed to a very high tempo game.

The question is, if he signs, do you go with 'Zlatan' on the back or do you go with 'Ibrahimovic'? I mean he'll probably have 'Ibrahimovic' but 'Zlatan' is just so much cooler.

Also, how long do you wait before Kung-fu kicking the friend who decides to be Henderson?

Great news. The perfect signing. Free, genuinely world class and will allow the likes of Martial and Rashers to learn from him and develop their games.

It's a no brainer of a signing really. Why sign potential/young striker when we have two of the best around already in Martial and Rashers?

Our squad is currently too nice. He will add a winning mentality - he is a winner after all.

I have a Zlatan related pony tail and beard now too.

Bloody...
Have been wishing for a pre-Euro signing, so I could write a Zlatan United shirt on my wishlist for my birthday.
Now I'll have to settle with Mother-In-Law's usual five pair of socks and underwear.

I thought this thread would have blown up more after the Sky breaking news today about the medical.

Why the lack of muppetry? Assumption that its already more or less done? Or bored of how long it's dragging on? Or both?

It may be your thing and I'm not being judgmental, but people normally wouldn't put mother-in-law's underwear on their birthday wishlist. Just saying.

It's been obvious he'd come here for a good while, so maybe that's why.

There's still much excitement, but the medical bit isn't exactly unexpected.

Can't get excited for this one. I was similar with Schweinsteige, the old timers don't naturally put me in muppet mode.

Come on man, it's different. Schweinsteiger was a crock long before he moved to us and deep inside even the most excited fans knew he wouldn't last the whole season, whereas Ibrahimovic scored 52 goals in 51 games last season and is still one of the best strikers around.

We have every reason to be excited. He'd contribute on and off the pitch and wouldn't hinder Rashford's progress. In fact, Rashford would be able to learn from him, which could be invaluable for a young striker.

I wasn't comparing them as players. Just that I feel a similar level of apathy to this transfer as I did with Schweinsteiger. I get that it should be a lot more exciting but I'm just not feeling it.

Fair enough.

This one is done.Part of the excitement is the chase. With that being said i have high hopes for this signing. The guy is a winner simple as that and you can't have enough of them in your squad

And he is free!!!

Almost guaranteed a league title with Ibra in the side.

Just need a good right sided attacker and a CM that can dictate the tempo.

If we get Zlatan... I say break the bank on two WC players. We have plenty of squad players already.

First XI...

---------------DDG--------------
TFM----Smalling---Bailey----Shaw
-------Scheiderlin----Pogba-------
Bale--------Rooney--------Martial
-----------Zlatan----------------

Second XI

-----------Johnstone-----------
Damien---Jones----Blind----CBJ
---------Carrick---BSW--------
Mata--------Herrera----Pereira
------------Rashford----------

Which still leaves us
Memphis
Young
Januzaj
Valencia
Fellaini

Get the quality...!!

It's a little hypocritical to blame his Sweden team mates if you also dismiss the impact of playing for PSG in the French League. Can't have it both ways. External factors can't be the cause when he's poor but dissappear when he's good.

Playing in a poor team doesn't help the striker obviously but I agree with @Twigginater. You could see how he might find it difficult to adapt to a higher speed of football.
