Well, I know for sure that Madrid and Bayern are looking for a top striker and I'm sure there are others. Wouldn't be surprised if City buy a striker too but obviously they never would have been in for Ibrahimovic.. same for us. Outside of China or the Middle East, I'd be surprised if United weren't his only option.

I know that United fans are excited about this.. and that's understandable, but I think it has a touch of Falcao about it to be honest.

It's telling that no CL club is wiling to spend 300k a week on him despite many looking for top strikers.
Tottenham offered him a deal but he rejected them, tottenham have been the hipster team since poch went there. Also Milan director said, they wanted him but his wages were a problem.
Its simple, he wanted to come here. No touch of falcao, who was suffering from an injury prior to the move, and quickened his rehabilitation risking further problems just to play in the world cup.

There's many United fans with the same worry, but to be fair, there's very few clubs in the world who can pay the salary he is asking for.

Yeah, except for minor details like Falcao coming off his worst season, injury ridden and with a grand total of 9 goals in Ligue1 in 17 matches. While Zlatan is coming off his best season so far with 38 goals in 31 matches, plus 5 in 10 in the CL. Without any injury hampering him.

How do you know he is the future of this club? Januzaj was called that two seasons ago. He plays in a position that is tough because if he's not scoring then everybody will start to question him.

Hence why many big clubs don't have 18 or 19 year olds as their strikers. You could accept inconsistency on the wings or in CM. I feel CB and ST are the two unforgiving positions. Especially if you want to challenge for the league.

People are too fixed about youth development. Fergie certainly didn't give a toss about it in his latter years and was still winning.

He's an exceptionally talented player and he has a great attitude so I am certain he will make it at this club, but only if Jose gives him game time so he can continue to develop. As we are getting Zlatan I would like to see Rashford given a run of games as a right inside forward as I feel he may be just as good in this position. If not he will get some game time upfront as I don't think Zlatan will play every game.

Also he apparently had a few offers from the PL, as well as Italy

I have no doubt United are more attractive than Spurs.. so that's a moot point. I also wouldn't be surprised, though, if the Spurs interest is fabricated because their fans will latch onto just about any rumour and clicks = $$$.

It's worth noting that this man led a team who (arguably) are better than United's current team in every position except goalkeeper and still couldn't beat Pellegrini's Man City over two legs and he has not scored in over 75% of the games he has played against English competition.

Why would teams that have Aguero, Lewandwoski and Benzema be looking for a striker? Certainly not one that expects to play most weeks. I think what this says about United is that we see our future long term strikers already at the club but want a couple of years for them to develop fully and are getting in a world class striker with winning pedigree to bridge the gap.

Sounds naive.. but in line with the way of thinking of many on here.

You don’t see that being a possible scenario? He’s played for the biggest clubs in the biggest leagues, except for PL. With his ability, he can more or less choose his clubs.

Sure he said before June 7th his new club would be confirmed

Never mind i seen the post above from footballitalia

Leicester couldn't afford him. Spurs couldn't attract him. Us/City wouldn't want him.

So I guess, if he's set on the Premier League and the PL only.. you may well be the only team he has to consider, yes.

You must also consider that we are in quite a luxurious position with having two of the worlds arguably biggest striker talents on our books. When a WC striker with 1-2 good years left in him becomes available that sort of gives us the best of both worlds, some instant effect, while not hindering our talents chances long term, well then we have to sign him.

I guess Mourinho also only had one option... who cares we're signing Zlatan!

Why not do a Michael Owen on him and ruin him by letting him play 50+ games next season? Would be fecking stupid.

What are you on about? If you read my posts you would know that I never said we should play him in 50+ games. I said we should give him game time so he can continue to develop. Obviously not 50+ games

Poor English clubs, especially United

Aye, can’t see Arsenal needing world class strikers.

The comparisons to Falcao are silly.

The situations are nothing alike.

I meant that I could see the same thing happening as it did with Falcao. I remember when he signed it was all

'We're back.'
'Only LVG could attract this player. Moyes couldn't.'
'League is ours.'

Ultimately, I think the fallout will be similar.. but not as severe - as Zlatan does have enough quality to ensure he'll never 'flop', per sé. I guess what I'm trying to say is the output may not match the expectations of the fans/media.

Elderly foreign forward joining on big wages with no transfer fee? They're a little alike.

One playing coming off a serious injury and even before the injury showed signs of decline vs a player who just had his best ever season arguably and has no injury concerns.

The comparisons are silly.

The pull of United is still far greater than most CL clubs including most in this country.

You're right it's a gamble. But definitely worth the risk on a free.

Much rather take gamble on a player of his calibre than keep a player with less than half the ability like Giroud for instance.

We could do with another proven PL striker, yes. Vardy would be ideal for us, in my opinion.. but I still don't think it will happen. Ibrahimovic would never be on our radar.. his ego wouldn't fit in Arsenal and his wages are certainly beyond our affordability.

Redcafe has the worst record when it comes to transfers in all fairness. I think the ones hyped up the most in recent years are Di Maria, Falcao and Bastian

I guess we'll see. If Giroud could win the Ligue 1 with Montpellier, I'm pretty sure he could do it with PSG. United fans have a tendency to draw their conclusions on players before they've even kicked a ball for them, recently.

We are going to sign an aging World Class forward who has got an excellent scoring record after recent spells in France and before that Spain.

There is absolutely nothing that links that to Falcao.

I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach he's going elsewhere.

Despite all information pointing him to us...
